On the Sunstar, every other supernatural creature which was living there peacefully trembled. Even the trolls that had started hibernating opened their eyes.

This used to be a peaceful and carefree world but ever since Scarlet came, it was anything but that. Take this night as an example, the air was charged with tension.

Booming voices filled the air, creatures of unknown origins walked among them. And worst of all, more deities than they had ever seen were all gathered on this one single world.

For a while there, it almost seemed as if war was about to break out right here on earth. It was never a good thing when gods fought in the realms of the living.

For some, this was perhaps the time to consider packing up and moving.

Above, Carnelia had had enough. Scarlet had left, Tridon could not touch her with all the extra protection they had put in place. The others needed to go before someone sniffed out Scarlet’s secret.

"Why are you all here?" Carnelia shouted at them.

"I heard Tridon is in love, again." The goddess of love answered.

"He is not in love, okay, he is just being his usual stupid lustful self. Everyone needs to go back to their realms before we cause this world to collapse with our overwhelming presence."

"Yeah, the drama is over." Lythia added.

The other gods looked at Tridon with glimmers in their eyes. They desired for the drama to continue not end because things had been a little too quiet in the realms lately. If the water god was still here, they were going nowhere.

"You first Tridon. Apparently these blabbermouths will not leave if you are still here." Carnelia looked at the water god expectantly.

He had to go, whether it was peacefully or forcefully.

"Then him," Lythia pointed to lust.

Her nose was still crinkled from inhaling all of the pheromones he put out there.

Tridon looked down sharply, as if he was searching for something. Then he looked at both goddesses and said calmly, "This is not over."

He vanished into his water portal and two goddesses were relieved.

"Oh well, too bad." Ethes said.

He used more of his powers, spreading the influence of lust and seduction in the air.

"The humans should at least have a good night."

He vanished as well and then the others followed, one by one or together until only love was left.

The other two looked at her with questioning eyes. Their eyes seemed to say, why are you still here?

She laughed at them, her beautiful voice sounding like the tinkling of a bell.

"I am the goddess of love. Nobody has a problem with love being in the air, okay. I am sure your grim reaper will not mind me staying around for a few days. Maybe I can take this chance to strengthen the love between her and her husband so that Tridon’s tricks don’t work on her."

She fell backwards and laughed again, leaving behind the scent of flowers.

Now that the others had left, Carnelia and Lythia sent all the creatures that had come with them back to the underworld and they went back as well.

Immediately, they went in search of Scarlet and found her playing with a few baby hounds while Ruby watched over her.

The way she was smiling so carefreely, one would think that she had not just had an encounter with a god.

Dashing to her side, Lythia and Carnelia looked her over and used their power to check on her body and the babies.

Scarlet felt something move in her stomach and she winced.

"Are you okay?" Lythia asked her.

Her face was slightly distorted proclaiming the discomfort she was feeling.

Lythia shoved a cup of the red gooey stuff in her hands.

"Drink."

Scarlet almost said gladly before chugging the whole thing down at once. It was not the first time she was feeling the discomfort. Ever since she left that small world, it had been coming on and off.

As she drunk, Carnelia patted her hair gently.

"It’s not going to be easy." she said. "Pregnancies are always difficult for female reapers, especially when the children start forming human shells. For some, their sense of awareness starts forming quickly. When that happens, they will begin to test their carrier..."

"Mother." Ruby said.

"Yeah, mother." Carnelia corrected. "Some will try to control your actions, or exit the womb early. Others are lazy and they need the mother to sleep..." she said and chuckled at a memory which she did not share with the others.

"But don’t worry, we have mid wives on hand." Lythia assured her.

Her stomach was settling down and she could now take a deep easy breath. I hope I have five sleepers, she thought.

"Where is the old deity?" she asked them.

With all the danger she incurred, it was quite surprising that he was nowhere to be seen. She would have expected him to be the first one on the scene, guns blazing to rip his brother apart.

"He is still looking for wisdom." Lythia told her. "Wherever he is hiding, he has done a great job at staying unnoticed."

Scarlet looked at them and wondered if they were missing the obvious. If the deity of wisdom and Nyx were together back then, shouldn’t he fill in the missing gaps?

She herself had been to the entrance of the lonely river village twice but with no way of getting inside, she could not find or speak to Nyx.

Maddox too had refused to help her, claiming that she was too busy on a mission.

"Have you asked Nyx?"

Her tone had an unsaid "duh" at the end.

Carnelia bent her head forward and asked her, "Do you really think that we did not consider doing that?"

"What did he say?" she asked eagerly.

She moved her body so that she could see both deities clearly.

Lythia sighed. Scarlet was too curious about some things. "Nyx is not exactly in position to explain those events. Let’s just leave it at that for now. Talk to me about Tridon, did he do or say anything to you before we got there?"

Scarlet’s eyes moved around and she twisted her lips, moving them in a round manner.

"So he did say something." Carnelia said softly.

"He wanted me to use my flame on Ramslin. He told me to end him." She looked at them and added, "He is the other reaper on my world. Tridon said something about him being a danger to me in future." She kept silent for a few seconds then asked them with some worry in her eyes.

"What do you think he meant?"
