Chapter 483: Patience is not a virtue.
Chapter 483: Patience is not a virtue.
Esong was on the phone with his son for an hour, indulging him in whatever he wanted to talk about about. Once Justin dosed off, he hung up and returned to business.
This entire time while he was comforting his son, the body of a bleeding, bruised and broken Atlas was laying at his feet on his spaceship.
All the men who participated in the hunt were there, drinking and discussing what they had enjoyed the most.
"Is he alive?" Markay poked Atlas with his foot.
Captain Jacks came over and looked at Atlas’s face up close. He opened a beer bottle and took a swig then said casually, "He is alive, we barely touched him."
Elroy and Beord shared a look, both thinking to themselves that barely was stretching the word thin. Atlas’s face was swollen and bloody, half of his bones were broken.
He was traumatized, whimpering softly on the ground and terrified. Whatever the goal was, it had been accomplished.
"What do we do with him now?" Markay asked.
"I say we put in a med bed and restore him to perfect health then let him go. He has learned lesson, he won’t be returning to the Blue star anytime soon." Cedric suggested.
Ian shook his head.
"No, bastards like these do not learn. He will recover, strategize and probably return. I say we slice his cock off."
Elroy chortled like a fool.
"What?" Adler asked him.
"He said cock." Elroy answered and chortled again.
He was the youngest of everyone here, still in his twenties and the rest of the grown men saw him as a child. Giggling over a word like ’cock’ was right up his alley.
"He is such a child." Folsom said.
"Children don’t come in his size." Ian said. "Hey guys, let’s come back to the business of the day. Yay or nay on cutting his co,....I swear that I will punch you if you laugh young Su. Are we castrating him or not?" Ian glared at Elroy before asking the question.
He dangled a a small knife around in his hands then swung it around slowly.
Markay squatted down and flipped Atlas over. His eyes trailed from Atlas’s face to his crotch.
"I have never seen a man being castrated. Do you think it’s the same as the beheadings?"
Atlas’s eyes widened and he shook his head. He was an incubi, without his penis, he might as well be a dead demon. His power and longevity was attained through sex.
If he had known the consequences, he would have stopped when he had a chance. Why, he asked himself. Why had he chosen to go after Scarlet?
He was not willing to be castrated.
"I won’t return." he said in a rough broken voice.
Most of the men heard what he said and they looked at Esong. Only his opinion mattered in situation.
"See, he says he will not return. We can ban him from ever setting foot on the Blue star. If the RGB asks, we tell them that he abused his authority to access the castle. Also as the governor of the Blue star you have the right to ban anyone from your planet."
Beord pointed out.
"You Su’s are soft." Captain Jacks. "Atlas here is a serial predator. It may not be Scarlet but he will ruin some other woman’s life. I say we sterilize him and then ban him. If he can’t get it up, he can’t use it."
"A dead enemy is better than one who lives to plot vengeance. I say we finish him off." Markay suggested.
"Maybe we should vote on this." Adler suggested.
Back in the small world, unaware that a problem was being taken care of her, Scarlet was coming to the discovery that for her, patience was not a virtue.
She had finally reached the doors leading to that thing which she had been seeking only to find three reapers and two angels of life sitting there already.
Most unbelievable in the group was Ramslin’s familiar face.
"So much for partnership." Scarlet thought.
Those that she found were just as unpleased to see her as she was to see them.
She did not interact with them since everyone was a rival in the small world.
She touched the massive ocean blue iron doors that had these maze-like patterns etched into them. Some were serpentine like leading to circular knots in the center.
She tried to push the doors open and nothing barged.
"I will do it." Severus said.
She and Flan backed away and Severus launched himself at the doors.
He bounced against it and ended up being thrown back.
"Three reapers and two angels and you think that nobody has tried to pry the doors open. Are all reapers this dumb?"
One of the angels, the female one said this.
Scarlet and Flan turned their gazes onto the snickering angel and Flan growled.
"I haven’t eaten something with feathers in a while. Would you care to take a trip in my stomach?" she said.
The angel stopped snickering and her eyes fired up. They glowed just as her hair did.
"Come here doggie, I will give you something to chew on."
Flan growled and so did Severus, itching for a fight with the angels.
Ramslin finally stepped in and put himself between Scarlet, the hounds and the angels.
"Maybe everyone should calm down. We suggested that there be no fighting until the doors open."
"Stay out of this boy." Severus told him.
"Yeah, butt out." Flan added.
Ramslin was already aware of how much the hound did not like him so he turned to the one who owned the hound.
In a slimy voice, he said, "Scarlet, my friend."
Severus snorted and Ramslin stopped talking. He clenched his hands and titled his head to the left to look at the hound.
"Look, hound, I am just trying to make sure that we all keep the peace so that all of us get a chance at the prize. Think about the reason why we are all here in the first place."
"How did you get here?" Scarlet asked him.
"We found a cave on one of the islands leading here." he answered.
Scarlet nodded and raised her eyebrows.
"Okay, cool." she answered. "I will wait from over here with my hounds."
"I can wait with you." Ramslin offered.
"No thank you." Severus answered on Scarlet’s behalf.
He would rather wait with the hostile angels than the shady grim reaper who could neither keep his word nor reveal his true intentions.
The trio found a spot away from the three reapers and two angels and sat down.
"So how long do you suppose it will take for the doors to open?" Flan asked her.
Scarlet shook her head. She was clueless when it came to this.
"What do you suppose the markings on the door mean?" She asked Severus.
"It looks like a map of sorts to me." He answered. "A very confusing one."
Scarlet looked at the doors with her reaper vision and decided to study the weird map on the door. Perhaps it would come in handy when those doors opened.
For now, it was she had to do and she would do it patiently even though patience was not her biggest virtue.
