Chapter 475: A small water world.

Scarlet prepared a mango cake and an almond cake before ending the live broadcast. As usual, the camera crew packed up half of whatever was left while the maids and robot butlers gathered to prepare the foods for those who had picked in the lotto.

She personally prepared Esong’s package and sent it off before handing Justin to Cecily to take care of for a few days.

With all arrangements made, she escaped with Severus into her training room.

They both appeared in the underworld, in Lythia’s palace and Flan joined them.

The entire place was abuzz with excitement of the small world games.

Everyone was amped even though most would not be personally participating. The spirit of camaraderie was strong among all reapers, for it was not warriors vs guardians but grim reapers vs others.

More than a few reapers looked Scarlet’s way with envy as the names of those who had qualified to enter the small world had been revealed and hers was among them.

It was a marvel to most that a reaper who had been here for less than a year had qualified. But she had won the duo leaderboard games so it didn’t surprise them much anyway.

"Good luck hound." Someone shouted.

"Yeah, bring it home for the reapers." Another shouted.

"You are the great guardian reaper with two hounds, nothing can stop you."

"Wait, she has two hounds now!!"

"Suck the energy from those goody two shoes angels." Another screamed.

A round of laughter filled the registration hall, Scarlet’s among those ones. Clearly the beef between life and death did not stop at the deities, even their creations participated in it, fuelled it and propelled it from one generation to the next.

More well wishes found Scarlet as she made her way to the receiving point. She would be entering the world on her own with two of her hounds from the same place souls disappeared to after grim reapers delivered them to soul registers.

The soul registers, she found were recording bets, not just collecting souls of the dead.

The three deities who ruled the underworld were there as well, sitting on their thrones and waiting.

She approached them with a nervous smile on her face. She could relate this moment to the minutes leading up to the start of a game. Nerves were eating her from the inside, and she was slightly pale.

She was not the normal arrogant hound but a scared one because this was a bigger deal than she thought.

"Get on your knees and receive the blessings of the deities." A voice said to her.

She went down, the right knee touching the ground before the left one did. Her eyes faced forward and she looked at the three deities.

"Are you ready?" Lythia asked her.

Scarlet nodded. "I don’t think so." She thought. She had been ready until the deities got all up in her mind and filled her up with insecurities.

"Remember what we talked about." Carnelia reminded her.

"You will be looked out for." The old deity told her.

Scarlet had no idea what he meant, but she smiled and thanked him.

One after the other, each deity laid a hand on her head and then she and her hounds went through the gateway. Scarlet had always been curious about what lay behind this white misty gateway. It was her assumption that she would finally be able to see something.

Her assumption was dead wrong because in the blink of an eye, she was somewhere else, not in the underworld. This, she could easily guess because the underworld did not have as much water as this place did.

She found herself at the entrance of a cave whose entrance had a few dangling green vines. Drops of water were falling down slowly from the vines, landing on her head.

From where she was standing, she could see a sandy white beach and an endless ocean, blueish green in color and the water was sparkling as if it was filled with gems.

Above the vast endless ocean were hanging islands, many of them simply floating slowly. Water poured from the edge of the islands, falling into the ocean like waterfalls.

"This place is a dump." Severus said.

He meant that it was damp, cold and wet because of the dripping drops of water.

She looked down and saw both hounds besides her. For once, they were not fighting.

"This place is too quiet." she said.

It was beautiful, just like an island should be but it was too quiet. Where were the other participants?

"Probably hiding and waiting to ambush others." Flan suggested.

Severus took a few steps out of the cave and looked around. He did not agree with Flan, if someone was hiding nearby he would have sensed it already.

"I think they could be on one of those floating islands. Everyone must be in a hurry to gather as many good things as they can get their hands one. We should do the same, our time here is limited after all."

Scarlet looked at the ocean with contemplation and an idea crossed her mind.

"Say, if you are the water deity, would you put the best things on land where everywhere can access them with ease or in the the water which is your domain?"

"Water." Flan said instantly. "But it’s also the place where the most dangerous monsters will probably be. The gods love heroes and heroines so they always set the most difficult paths with the biggest rewards to reward the brave."

Severus looked up at the floating island and then at Scarlet. "So we are all on board, floating land it is."

It was only logical that they don’t take unnecessary risks as agreed.

The one he was speaking to was already changing her outfit into one that would aid her movements and breathing under water. Scarlet figured that since she would have to be disqualified early then she might as well reap some of the biggest benefits.

"What are you doing?" Severus asked her.

"The sensible thing." Flan answered on behalf of Scarlet.

Severus was really slow to understand and it was amazing because he often bragged about how smart he was.

Scarlet handed them both a round blue pill.

"With this, you two will be as fast as fish underwater and I will be no different from a mermaid. Come on, let’s dive."

She rushed out of the cave quickly, focused completely on the ocean before her with a goal in mind.

What happened in the small world was available for viewing in all realms of the gods. As usual, in the underworld it was viewed on the forum by reapers and deities alike.

As soon as Scarlet headed for the water the old deity looked at Lythia with blame in his eyes.

"You said she would be careful." he said unhappily.

Where was the carefulness? She had simply decided to go for jugular of the small world right at the beginning. At least others eased into it first.

With Scarlet, it was like there was no middle ground. It was all or nothing.

"I never said she wasn’t crazy." Lythia replied.
