Saturday family breakfast came early, and this time round, Scarlet ensured that she, Esong and Justin were the first at the table. There was bound to be some drama, and she wanted to miss nothing.

Beord was bringing Lanta, Adler was bringing Arya, Markay of course would be here unless duty deterred him. And in a surprising twist, Fey was bringing Lloyd.

There was surely going to be some tension and drama and Scarlet was glad that for once, she was not at the center of it.

Esong noticed how happy she looked, it was almost as if she had come to attend the screening of a movie. Justin did not notice any changes in his mother’s attitude. As far as he knew, mommy was always happy.

"Okay you have got to tone down the smile." Esong told her.

He couldn’t take it anymore, she was smiling even brighter than the sun. Not only was it a distraction to him, but it was also freaky.

"Why should I stop smiling when I am happy? Isn’t it a lovely day?" she responded.

Esong reached out with his hands and turned her head to face him.

"Promise me that you will not drop any unexpected surprises on anyone. Whatever happens, sit here looking pretty and smile."

"I can’t promise you that." she told him. "But I promise, no dropping of surprises. Not on my end anyway."

He let go of her head, at least she had relented on one thing.

"Unless someone disrespects my parents, myself, our son or you. Then, its time to search my archives for ammunition." she made finger guns with both hands and shot him.

It was not hard for him to discern her actions. Esong slapped his forehead and shook his head. His spy wife surely had dirt on everyone that was coming.

"Good morning." Mega and Dorian Su swooped in, calling out greetings as they found their regular seats.

"I heard somebody was sick." Dorian looked at Justin.

"It was me grandpa but mommy kicked the sickness away." he shared.

"Does this mean you can sleep with us tonight?" Mega asked.

"Yes, with aunt Halley and uncle Greggy." Justin replied.

Mega looked at Scarlet and she smiled.

"I will send him over after lunch." she promised.

While she was responding, Elroy arrived, alone thankfully because their mother would have thrown a fit if he showed up with one of his bimbos as Mega had taken to calling them.

Beord and Lanta arrived, hand in hand. Lanta was all smiles but her body language conveyed stiffness. It was as if she had come expectant of a battle.

When Mega hugged her, she relaxed. Scarlet however maintained a neutral look as she was still undecided on Lanta.

After them, Carolyn and Markay glided in, wearing a couples outfit and Carolyn even had a shiny cerulean blue ring on her middle finger.

"Wow!" Scarlet exclaimed.

With a cheeky smile on her face, Carolyn danced her way closer to Scarlet and hugged her.

On Carolyn’s face was this unfading smile which was filled with warmth and excitement in her eyes. She obviously had good news.

"He proposed." she blurted.

"Aaaaaah." Both sisters squealed and hugged again.

Mega, quick to join her daughters separated them and grabbed Carolyn’s hand.

"Show me the ring." she said happily.

"So it’s a family heirloom picked out personally by the empress." Carolyn told them.

"It’s beautiful." Scarlet squealed and hugged her sister again.

"And expensive, better be careful with it. Don’t wear it on your finger when crafting." Mega reminded her.

Carolyn nodded, looked at Scarlet and they squealed again.

The three of them gushed over the ring while Markay received calmer ’congratulations’ handshakes and nods from the men.

"How did he propose?" Scarlet asked Carolyn.

Carolyn smiled shyly and covered her face which was turning red.

"Ooh, are you shy right now?" Scarlet teased her sister.

Before she could tease her even more as she wanted, Adler and Arya arrived. They too walked in hand in hand, Adler with a broad smile on his face while Arya looked mortified.

And just like that, the first frown on Mega’s face announced itself.

The age difference between Carolyn and Markay might have been ignorable but that between Adler and Arya was a bit concerning.

"Miss Storm, good morning to you." Mega addressed Arya.

"Good morning lady Su." Arya replied, in a squeaky voice.

"What lady Su, just call her mother." Adler told Arya.

All of the eyes at the table turned to look at Adler. Wasn’t it a little too soon for his girlfriend to be calling Mega mother? They were not even engaged.

Markay for one was wondering why Arya would call mother when even he was still referring to her as Lady Su on most occasions. If anyone here was to call her mother, shouldn’t he be the first?

Arya tugged on Adler’s shirt, a blush on her face. She was not a woman who liked drawing too much attention to herself. All these prying eyes made her uncomfortable.

"Father, mother, I am dating Arya with serious intentions. When her mother returns home I plan to make our relationship permanent." Adler faced their parents and declared.

Arya gasped.

Scarlet was stunned while Mega was so taken aback that she looked pale, as if the wind had been sucked out of her body.

Adler had a fierce expression on his face. He looked like he was ready to confront anyone that had an opposing opinion to his intentions.

Scarlet had been expecting drama but not this much drama. If anybody deserved drama it was Lanta, the harpy not Arya, the human.

"Perhaps this is not the place or time to have this conversation." Dorian suggested.

Mega quickly regained herself as well and she smiled.

"Mmm, we can discuss this after breakfast. Your father is right, this is not the time or place for such a serious conversation. "

Right then, Fey came rushing into the room holding someone’s hand. Behind her was Lloyd who she seemed to be dragging in forcefully.

"Good morning everyone, I hope we are not late." She announced chipper and bright.

"Oh boy," Scarlet whispered beneath her breath.
