Chapter 355: Don’t kill any human

In her mind, she could control Scarlet with the information she had and the Blue star would belong to her Marley family, running it from behind the scenes.

In the midst of her delusion, Scarlet let out a loud pitched smile, raising her head high and she covered her mouth. Then, she looked at Reya with sweet mockery in her eyes.

"Hey, idiot you seem to have forgotten the ranking system of power in the empire so let me remind you now that my husband is royal and so am I. There is a slight possibility that I will make it out of whatever this is alive but you won’t. Also, just in case you don’t know what the laws are regarding accomplices I will educate you. Hypothetically, if I did anything dirty and you contributed in any shape or form then that makes you my accomplice. So, let’s consider the situation for a minute, my husband is a member of the royal family and we both know that the punishment for harming a member of the royal family in any way is death. If found guilty we will be beheaded alongside the pirates. Even if we are spared by the mercy of the gods then we face a lifetime of mining for energy stones on the Red star for the rest of our lives. Then there are our families, what are the odds that what we do will not affect them? We could be the next Rogan’s, where are they now? The stock of origin nutrients has gone down and the vultures are circling, pecking away at what’s left one piece at a time." She moved her index finger around in a poking manner. "But I am sure that your family will thank you when they are living no better than commoners. Oh wait, noble families especially the high ranked ones kill their own in order to protect their positions." She said sarcastically. "So, be wise, shut your mouth and continue on like we have never met.I have already paid the price for my sins, you haven’t. If you keep pushing, nemesis will come knocking on your door."

She rolled her eyes, scoffed and walked away successfully this time round, leaving behind a surprised and scared Reya. As quickly as she could, she made her way to the suite and threw herself down on the bed. She had already made amends and this mess was not going to rise up from the grave in which she had buried it deep underground and bite her in the ass. She would not allow it to and if Reya attempted to resurrect it, she would seal her mouth if she had to.

"Please keep in mind that you are a grim reaper before you begin sealing mouths." a voice said from next to her.

Slowly, she tilted her head to the side and saw the old deity laying next to her, facing the ceiling of the suite just as she was. He had come in his image as a younger man and both of them were staring at the wormhole recreations that looked like portals to distant galaxies connecting to realms beyond. The Seven suns hotel had really embraced this theme, even the chandeliers were shaped like stars, dangling down on a milky way.

"Why are you here?" she asked the old deity.

"To see you of course." he answered. "I always make time to check in on my favorite reaper. Should we celebrate my visit with a hug?"

The memory of the last time he hugged her brought a bitter taste in her mouth. Hugging him was no different from hugging an electric eel or a starving tiger.

"No thank you." she replied. "Seriously, why are you here?"

"Because someone had some unsavory thoughts about burying a human underground to keep her dirty little secrets. It’s standard for me to pop in when a reaper has a dark thought." he answered her lazily, drawling as he explained.

The thought he referred to was one which she did not hold on to for so long because she was already aware of the rules.

"I have no bad intentions, you can relax if that’s what worries you." she told him.

"Oh, I am not worried." the old deity chuckled and said, "You are a smart cookie, one of the smartest grim reapers actually, and also the luckiest. You love this second chance at life too much to give it up for a silly little cat fight like this. Whatever you do, don’t kill or maim her because the deity of life will come calling like a bad wind. He is a very possessive bastard about every little human you know."

She scoffed and replied, "No more than possessive than you I am sure."

"What can I say, we are one and the same with minor differences." he answered lightly.

He sent a spiral of power to the ceiling and the fake wormhole turned into a real one. A gust of hot wind came out of it, and he waved his hand over it and closed it. He giggled and waved his hand again, revealing an image of another world, a desert world as evidenced by the myriads of hills of sand.

She watched with wide eyes as she marveled at his power and wondered how powerful he was. Maybe she should have transmigrated into the body of a deity. The ridiculous thought made her giggle as she pictured herself as a goddess, all draped in gold and standing tall like the tallest of mountains towering over humanity. She raised her arm and looked at her hands as she imagined it, and then she closed her fist tightly as if she had just crushed an entire civilization.

"Being a deity is much harder than it looks." he told her. "We have more conflicts than unity and we get bored quite easily. Also, managing humans and supernatural creatures is very irritating. And you add to that the constant formation of new worlds and needing faith, worship, incense and offerings from those we create is also a headache."

She put this sneer on her face as she thought, "You have never suffered a headache before, what do you know about it?"

The old deity poked her in the shoulder and said, "Speaking of offerings and incense, you have not given me any in a long time. Am I your deity or not?"

She raised her arm slightly, to keep a distance between herself and him. "Why do grim reapers make offerings or light incense anyway?"

"Because, your faith is the purest, it’s like an adrenaline rush for us." he answered.

"So all the deities want offerings from the creatures they create, mortal and immortal but especially immortal?" she asked.

"Yes." he assured her.

In her mind she thought, so you guys are like junkies getting high off of our offerings.

"I wouldn’t go that far, and that thought should stay in your mind, share it with no one." he told her. "Anyway, eat your hell fruits, that is a message from Lythia and give us some offerings, include that sweet honey and those lotus flowers in your pond. And please, don’t kill any human, not even the unworthy ones." he disappeared after adding that reminder.

The images of the desert world disappeared with him, and the hologram on the ceiling returned as it had been. She got up and decided to find out if she could use the balcony to cook a meal.
