Chapter 352: It smells different.

Her first step was not as she imagined it would be, because the path she stepped on led directly to the wide arched glass revolving doors which led inside of the Seven suns hotel and not an interstellar machine as she imagined. The hotel which stood tall in the midst of the otherworldly magnificent city was one of the places she saw when she first arrived in the interstellar world just before the old deity yanked her out of her fancy dreams and sent her spiraling to the Blue star. It’s box towers gravitated from one end to another, changing positions and you would wake up with a different view from the one you saw before going to bed. The glass elevators on the outside and inside glided noiselessly as they took guests up and down all through the hotel.

"Now this is more like it." Carolyn said with an appreciative gaze when they stepped inside.

The appreciation was a shared one, all the siblings and their parents felt the exact same way. Even Severus sniffed the air with excitement.

"It smells different here, like wealth." he said.

Scarlet looked down at the hound and asked him, "What does wealth smell like?"

"You will know when you meet one of the three deities of wealth." he answered.

She spun around slowly as she observed the the limitless lobbies adorned with holographic videos, images and constellations on the walls. The welcoming desks spanned all the way upwards, leading to different floors and catering to different guests. She recalled that on earth the hotels she visited used to have one lobby and all guests were welcomed in that one lobby. Not here though, every floor had it’s own lobby.

"We grew up in the capital but never once did we step in this grand place." Elroy said in a wonder filled voice.

Their family had not been wealthy enough to come here or important enough to get an invitation to a place where only the wealthiest and most affluent in their society gathered, dined and discussed intimate issues. It was said that not even those with D level mental strength could not work at the Seven stars. One had to have C level mental strength to do menial tasks here, and while such tasks were looked down on by those with high levels of mental strength, the pay and possibility of meeting celebrities or nobles attracted many. The hotel turned away even those with A and B levels of mental strength when it came to employment if you did not meet their strict criteria. Once, the old Scarlet had tried and failed to get a job here and now, she was a guest.

"That’s in the past, now, we will live like lords here." Scarlet told him.

Their mother had approached the receptionists while the rest gazed around, ignoring the scornful looks of some wealthy guests who could tell at first glance that their family was new to such a glorious place.

One woman in particular gave Scarlet a look of revulsion just before she disappeared into the luminescent hallway leading to the suites. She was followed by hotel staff, bell hops clad in opalescent robes, using their mental strength to transport luggage with kinesis.

"Do you know her?" Fey leaned over and asked.

"I am not sure." she replied. But one thing was for sure, the other party recognized her quite vividly and she hated her. But given the old Scarlet’s reputation, it was of no surprise that she had haters in the capital city.

While Mega explained what she had been told by one of the receptionists, Scarlet tugged on the leashes which she put around the white and brown cats.

"I don’t like this thing." the brow cat said.

"Get it off." the white one added and tried to walk away.

When she tugged on it and the white cat failed to escape, it turned around and said, "This is cat abuse."

Their loud mewls went on and on, attracting the attention of other guests. Initially, most of them thought that these were robot pet animals, but after they recognized her, the expressions in their eyes quickly turned to shock and curiosity.

She ignored the finger pointing and the obvious taking of her photographs, but Tion and three of her guards did not. They stepped in front of her and blocked the view of those prying eyes. All she was thinking about was the cat abuse accusation made by the white cat which had roused a chuckle from her.

"Silly thing." she whispered to herself. She tugged on the leashes once more and said, "It’ either a leash or a pod, you decide."

All of the spirit animals hated pods, referring to them as unnatural and vile. Given that hard choice, the cats settled down quietly.

On her shoulders, Scarlet felt Justin’s head move and she knew that he was in the process of waking up. She gave the leashes to Carolyn whose eyes immediately started studying them.

Justin who was in a state of confusion after waking up in a strange place immediately called for her. "Mommy," he said in a soft voice.

"Mmm, yes baby." she replied. "Look, we have arrived in the capital. See where we are now baby, we are inside of the beautiful Seven suns hotel." She turned him around so that he could look around. "See your daddy." she pointed to the direction Esong was coming from.

He was stepping out of the elevator with a group of men and women who wore the robes of the hotel employees but in blue. They wore smiles on their faces and fussed around him the way important CEO’s or politicians were fussed over.

"Mommy." Justin called her again.

"Yes sweet boy." she answered and rubbed her face in his hair.

"I want to go down." he said.

She did as he wanted, placing him down but she kept her hand on him so that he would not get lost in the mixture of so many strangers.

"We are going to go ahead and find our rooms, wait for your husband and go with him." her mother told her.

When Esong arrived with the strangers, he put his right hand around her and and started making introductions immediately. He started with the woman in a yellow dress with a long black coat who was standing in the middle of all the men. "This is lady Gayle, she and her husband own the hotel."

Lady Gayle as Esong introduced her calmly and stoically stared at Scarlet, before bowing slightly. "Lady governor, welcome to the Seven suns." she said.

Scarlet nodded and replied, "Thank you, it’s a beautiful establishment you have here."

The lady nodded, but she did not smile, not even at Scarlet’s compliment. "Please excuse me I have many things to cater to but I hope that we can meet again and have a long discussion, one business woman to another."

"I shall be very pleased with that." Scarlet answered.

Before coming to the capital, she had asked Carolyn to print out a few business cards for her which she kept in the inner pocket of her cloak and she gave one of them to Lady Gayle.

Lady Gayle was confused as she looked at the tiny and flimsy paper. When she saw the words printed on it, she laughed lightly and then walked away.

Scarlet found it quite amusing that of all things to evoke a smile from the woman, it was the business card. But she did not dwell on it for much longer and she smiled at the other people Esong went on to introduce to her.
