Chapter 74 Confession
Chapter 74: Chapter 74 Confession
A warm feeling spread across my chest hearing his words. The reaction of he would burn the world down for my sake made me feel like I held a special place in his heart.
Before I could say anything, his voice echoed through the room. "Is it Alpha Allison?"
My body went stiff. He was smart to catch on. If he was sure, then it was time for me to let him know.
I parted my lips, but before any words could come out, a knock on the door made Damon turn to answer it.
’It’s time for me to let him know what Alpha Allison truly is.’
My back straightened when he walked back towards me. "Master..."
"Come with me, Ember. We need to go to the dungeon," he interrupted me, his jaws twitched.
"But I have something to say..."
"We will continue our conversation later. Right now, we need to head to the dungeon." He cut me off again.
I bit my tongue before nodding my head.
As we walked through the open space toward the dungeon, the cold breeze ruffled our hair gently. The weather loomed like it was about to rain.
I looked up at Damon, whose demeanour had turned cold again. I couldn’t help but wonder what was happening.
A nostalgic feeling struck me at the familiar sight of the dungeon. ’Caroline and Lydia must have been kept in the dungeon. I’ll find a way to meet them later.’
I walked mindlessly behind Damon, bumping into his hard-toned frame. Pain shot from my nose down to my spine.
Damon glanced over his shoulder at me. "I apologize, master."
I rubbed my nose, as if it would make the pain disappear.
He returned his gaze to his front. "We are here," he walked over to a big cell.
As I walked closer, my eyes widened, my jaws almost dropped.
’That’s... that’s the prestigious Alpha Allison behind bars! The bitch is finally behind the bars... hallelujah!’
Allison stood close to the door, her fingers clenched beside her. "Alpha Damon," her voice cracked with anger and humiliation. Then, her gaze swept past him, landing on my small frame.
Her eyes darkened in bitterness.
"Alpha Allison." Damon’s voice was devoid of emotion.
"Is this how you treat your guests? I had helped you to subdue the rogues that almost rampaged your pack. Is this how you repay me back for my good deeds?" she barked.
However, Damon remained calm, totally unmoved by her words.
"Don’t forget we have been allies for decades. You can’t treat me like this... not when we are just days away from mating." Her eyes grabbed the bar, but she winced from the sizzling noise from her contact with the rod made with silver.
My heart sank in my chest. ’Did she just say they were days away from mating?’ My breath came out shakily.
I turned to Damon. I was unknowingly waiting for him to deny her claims, but he remained quiet. Does this mean that they have already agreed and finalized their relationship?
My gaze blurred from the tears that pooled in my eyes. My fists clenched so tight that they turned white. I willed myself not to shed a tear.
’Oh don’t tell me that you are going to cry because of that psychopath? He isn’t worth your tears. And besides, maybe you can strike a deal with her so you can leave the pack and roam around the world.’
But those didn’t help quell down the flames that were burning in my heart. ’Stop it, Ember. He never told you he loved you.’
But what about those moments where his actions say otherwise—when those little things he did speak volumes?
I hadn’t realized until now that I had this belief that he loves me, and even though he is a psychopath, he could be the one I have been waiting for. ’Foolish me, for having those luxurious thoughts about him.’
"You tried to poison me, Alpha Allison."
"No, I would never do that. You know it. I love you, Damon, and I would never do anything to hurt you. Why won’t you believe me?" Allison cried. She pulled her hand back, pain contorting her face.
"It’s Alpha Damon to you. If you didn’t poison me, who did? You were the one who brought the wine. Are you trying to say that someone else tampered with it?" His gaze narrowed at her.
Allison nodded her head. "That must be it. Someone must have tampered with the wine. Please conduct an investigation and clear my name."
Damon closed his eyes, as if he was suffering from a headache. "I’m sorry to break it to you, we have already conducted the investigation and everything points to you."
Allison’s face fell. "That’s not true," she muttered.
’She’s good at acting.’ My gaze moved to and fro both of them.
"I’ll have to behead you along with the rest of your pack in my castle for your act of treason. Alpha Allison, I’m very disappointed in you."
Damon’s words were like a cold slap to Allison’s face. Fear flickered through her usually brave face.
"No, Damon. Remember our ties. You can’t cut us off just like that." She gripped the bar again, ignoring the burns from the contact.
"Remember, we are one of your few allies. The other packs are gathering to overthrow you. If you kill me, you would lose a powerful backing. And think about it—the witches’ coven won’t hesitate to join in the fight. You might be a Lycan, but there is only one of you. You need allies, Damon! You need me!" Tears streamed down her face.
"If you knew how much our ties were worth, you wouldn’t have done this." Damon turned his back to her.
"You’ll face your punishment tomorrow." He moved to walk away. His calm expression fell for a moment. It was so fast that I almost missed it.
’I guess karma is real.’ But our steps halted when a voice rang through the cell.
"I confess, Alpha Damon... I confess. I poisoned your drink and... and I stole the locket." A maid from the other cell cried out, falling on her knees.
