Chapter 78: The Courtsan House

Lucian and Zane’s horses came to a stop in front of a large building that was brightened up with lamps and torches, though the building was located inside the huge walls of the palace, it was at the very end of it. Even from outside, one could hear the loud laughter and musical instruments flowing out of the building.

Lucian dismounted his horse and handed it to Zane to go and tie them up at the horse stand before they made their way into the building. This was Lucian’s first time visiting a courtesan’s house or being anywhere near a courtesan in years. He’d only ever had one, and that was a long time ago, which he could barely remember. Though being here didn’t sit well with him, he had no choice if he wanted to stop being bothered and aroused by thoughts of Ave.

Since he’d walked away from her from the corridor of the south wing, she had been haunting his mind and thoughts. He had not only been haunted by her body but by her completely. He couldn’t concentrate on his work or think about anything else, and the more he thought about her, the more irritated he became.

Perhaps finding release in another woman would rid him of all the malicious thoughts of her he had been conjuring in his mind. He had thought of countless ways to have her sprawled on his bed and underneath him.

He had even subconsciously thought of a position that would please them both if she were to come to his room at that moment he was being aroused by her thoughts, by the way her dress had clung to her rounded breasts and the way he always felt a thrilling feeling whenever he touched her. By the time he realized the thoughts going on through his head, his trousers had tightened in such an uncomfortable way.

Irritated and angry at himself for having such thoughts about a woman that wasn’t even his wife, and one he didn’t like to the point where he would take her to his bed, Lucian had flung the documents on his desk aside and made his way toward Zane’s room after putting on his coat and grabbing a wide-brimmed conical hat that would hide his infamous eyes.

Though he could have sent Zane to summon a courtesan to his chamber, he had never welcomed strangers to his palace. He had no trust for anyone, thus he’d decided to go to them instead and release his frustration.

And now that they were here, he walked into the building, already wearing the wide-brimmed hat that concealed half of his upper face.

Even though the people in the room couldn’t see his face, his presence alone made all activities in the hall stop. The women dancing on a platform and swaying their hips for the men below all stopped to look toward the two mysterious strangers who had entered, dressed in dark clothing with hats over their heads.

Zane, who was more familiar with the courtesan’s house, walked behind a curtained area to meet the Madam of the house. Not long after, the Madam walked out with Zane to greet Lucian, whom she knew was the cursed prince, as she was familiar with his bodyguard who frequently visited the courtesan’s house.

Though the third prince and the first prince were regular customers, she had never seen the Cursed Prince, nor had he ever come to visit them. Thus, she bowed to the waist when she stood before him. "Your Highness," she greeted.

The courtesans in the hall noticed their Madam bowing to the mysterious man, not knowing he was the second prince. They all became eager to be chosen to serve him, as any man their Madam bowed to in such a respectful way could only be an important figure in their land.

Lucian barely acknowledged the woman’s greeting as he stared at her. He didn’t have to tell her why he was here because Zane had already done the job for him when he went behind the curtains to speak to her.

The woman stood straight and said, "Come with me, I will lead you to one of our elegant rooms. It’s your first time visiting us, and I shall make sure you get the best of everything." She announced as she began to lead Lucian up the stairs.

Though many were scared of the second prince and avoided him, Madam Elena didn’t care about rumors. She focused most on her job, and any kind of man was always welcome into her courtesan’s house as long as they had the money and what it took to keep her house flourishing in the walls of the Empire.

Lucian casually walked up the stairs with the woman, who led him to the second floor and opened the golden double doors of a room. When he entered, the room was filled with the strong scent of incense sticks and was dimly lit, with the bed neatly arranged.

Once inside, Lucian took off his hat and put it aside before sitting down at the edge of the bed.

"I will bring her to you now, Your Highness," Madam Elena bowed and hurried out of the room, as she had caught sight of his infamous amber eyes when he took off his hat.

To pass the time before the courtesan was brought to the room, Lucian reached out and picked up the news parchment on the nightstand to read. It was news about a certain village in the Pendragon Empire that was driven into poverty, with the people rumored to eat each other because of the lack of food and employment there.

Lucian got interested in reading the news and didn’t even notice when the door to the room opened and closed until he felt a hand massaging his lap and crawling slowly toward his inner thighs. Without even looking away from the paper, he grabbed the hand in a death grip that made the woman cry out in pain

"My Lord, I am here to serve you," said the woman beside him nervously.

Lucian released her hand and put the paper away to give his attention to the courtesan, whom he’d finally looked up to notice. She had black hair with brown eyes that now regarded him with fear when she noticed his amber eyes for the first time.

He had been reading when she entered, and now that he looked up, she felt her heart slam forcefully against her ribcage, and she automatically moved away from him and quickly bowed.

"Your Highness...!" She bowed to the waist.

Lucian could see how she was slightly trembling, but didn’t care. "You are here to serve me, aren’t you?" he asked, and when she nodded quickly, he said, "Then get on with it. I will not hurt you," he assured, and the woman was about to sigh in relief when he added, "If you don’t annoy me."

The courtesan was one of the elite in the house and was known for her skill with men. Any man she served always found his way back to request her again, only they would have to pay double the price to have access to her again, which was why she had been picked by Madam Elena to come and serve Lucian—so they would have him as their regular customer, just like the third prince, who lavished them with money and gold.

The courtesan was confident in herself, and since Lucian had said he wouldn’t hurt her if she didn’t annoy him, she loosened up and took a deep breath. No man could resist her charm, and she was certain the second prince, despite the rumors surrounding him, wouldn’t be able to resist. And serving a scary, handsome man like him would not only boost her position even more within the palace walls, but make him fall for her like every other man she’d served before.

Lucian watched the woman closely and noticed how she stopped shaking from fear and took on a pose that made him see her body clearly. She was wearing attire that barely covered her chest and body, her thighs were revealed, and instead of feeling aroused as he expected he would, he felt annoyed and slightly repulsed by how she was swaying her hips while discarding the little clothes she was wearing.

She was in the process of taking off the thin cloth around her chest when Lucian stopped her. "Wait," he said, and she froze mid-action, her eyes looking at him uncertainly.

"Do... do you want me to keep my clothes on, Your Highness?" she asked, blinking at him in a seductive way that promised more fun ahead, but the man before her didn’t even seem affected by her effort as he stood up from the bed and approached her.

"Do you have a bath pool here?" he asked with a blank expression on his face that made the courtesan frown in confusion.

"W-what do you need the bath pool for?" she asked.

"I want to drown you in it and kill you," he deadpanned, causing the woman’s eyes to widen in fear.

"I... I am sorry if..." She began to apologize before Lucian cut her off, irritation lacing his voice, "Don’t make me ask you again. You have the pool or not?"

"Y-yes, we have one in the other room, but Your Highness, you..." Before she could finish speaking or pleading for her life, Lucian had said, "Let’s go to this pool in the other room. I would like you to serve me there."

The courtesan was no longer certain what the prince intended to do to her, but she dared not refuse to follow him to find that out herself. He had said he wanted to drown her in it, and now he wanted her to serve him there. Swallowing hard, she began to lead him to the bathing pool room.

When they arrived, the pool room was empty with lamps surrounding the water and rose petals scattered around the surface of the hot water that had been prepared in advance for her to use after serving the prince.

Lucian stood at the entrance and jerked his head toward the water. "Get inside it, and since you have been eager to take off your clothes, you can do that in the water," he ordered.

The courtesan prayed silently in her mind while promising to never serve another prince if she were to get out of this alive without getting drowned like the man had threatened. She hesitated for just a moment when she saw Lucian’s eyes, his brows raised as if asking what she was waiting for.

She quickly got into the water and took off her clothes, then looked at him with uncertainty. "Your Highness?"

"Don’t look at me. Turn around and pretend I am not here while you bathe," he ordered, looking at her closely while also paying attention to his body’s reaction.

The young woman nodded and turned around, even though she had no idea what the prince was making her do. She began to wash her body while trying, unconvincingly, to pretend he wasn’t there; his presence could never go unnoticed.

"Use your hands to pour water on your body, and sing any song you know—loudly," he ordered, trying to mask the irritation he was feeling at the fact that he wasn’t feeling aroused by the sight of this woman, even though she had bigger everything than Ave.

The courtesan began to sing the song she knew in a loud, shaky voice, as no man had ever requested her to do such a thing before. She used her shaky hands to pour water on her body while praying that he wouldn’t drown her if she didn’t please him with her song.

Lucian stood there for a few more seconds before he turned on his heel and left the room, slamming the door behind him, making the woman in the water scream in fear. "Please don’t kill me! I swear I didn’t mean to annoy you, Your Highness! I was..." She stopped short as she swirled around and found the spot empty. He had left. That thought almost made her knees give way beneath her.
