Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife -
Chapter 58: From the future
Chapter 58: From the future
"If you dare lie to me, you won’t like the aftermath."
His warning fell right on her ear, and she swallowed hard. Laughing anxiously, Ave read through the words in her mind. Fucker? If she told him the true meaning, when even the Emperor had believed the words to mean warrior, wouldn’t that bring more trouble to her head?
Ave cleared her throat and then turned her head to the side, intending to meet his eyes. However, it was impossible with the way his front was still pressed intimately to her back. "If I tell you their real meanings, you have to promise not to tell anyone else or kill me for it." She negotiated to save her neck. However, Lucian’s eyes narrowed.
"So you do admit the words’ meanings are enough to cost you your life?" he remarked drily, while trying to ignore her flowery scent that was invading his nostrils because of how close he kept her to him. "I am not going to promise you anything, and if you don’t tell me, my dagger will speak to your tender neck," he threatened.
Ave saw how he moved the dagger closer to her again and quickly decided to tell him what all the words meant.
She told him the true meaning of "fucker" and "motherfucker" first. However, when Lucian realized they were curse words, he was so surprised and displeased that she’d allowed them to spread across the entire land with a different meaning, where even a few of his men had called him that a few times, and he hadn’t punished them because he had actually believed it really meant warrior.
Before Ave knew it, Lucian had lifted his hand and gently slapped the back of his hand against her mouth, catching her off guard. "You foul-mouthed woman, weren’t you taught by your parents that females don’t curse? And how dare you use such disrespectful curse words on me and even allow the Emperor to use them?"
Ave felt the slight pain of his hit on her mouth and used her hand to touch it before she frowned at his disrespect for hitting her like that. She managed to turn around and face him, but she regretted it immediately as his face was now close to hers and their bodies were pressed together from the front with her back to the table.
Ave momentarily forgot she’d turned around to vent about being hit and got lost in his flaming eyes that bore down at her with a displeased frown. He looked so serious and handsome at the same time that she couldn’t bring herself to speak until he raised his hand and knocked her forehead, snapping her back to her senses.
Ave glared at him. "What was that for again? I told you the true meaning, and you hit me twice for it. Do you enjoy hitting and strangling me all the time?" she exclaimed, looking away from his eyes as they seemed to distract her more than she wanted them to. She didn’t like that her body was reacting in such a strange way whenever she was in his presence.
If his scent didn’t drive her crazy, his eyes would. Whatever it was, she was certain the feeling wasn’t coming from her, but the body she was possessing.
Lucian’s eyes narrowed down at her, and his lips pulled into a cruel smirk before he said, "What I just did now isn’t considered a hit. If I were to hit you, your body would be dragged out of here, Aveline." He whispered, causing Ave’s throat to run dry. Was this man trying to seduce her, or was she the one reading too much into this because of how he always called her name?
"Now be obedient and tell me what ’jerk’ means in your language if you don’t want me to hit you for real." Came his calm, low voice that seemed to hold a hint of amusement for the first time since Ave had come to know the Cursed Prince.
Ave told him the meaning, and she received another smack to the lips that made her cover her mouth with her palm and impulsively raise her other hand to slap his chest. "You jerk, why do you keep hitting—Ah!" She received another gentle smack to the lips that caused her to yelp and glare daggers at him.
But Lucian seemed to be enjoying it because his usual hardened face looked loosened up as he glanced down at her. "Use another disrespectful term to address me, and I’ll cut your lips next." He warned as he asked her what the next word meant.
"McDo?" Ave frowned. Where did he hear that one from?
Lucian seemed to read her expression and said, "You murmured it in your sleep last night."
Ave didn’t know whether she should be worried that she talked in her sleep or laugh at the fact that he wrote down words she murmured in her sleep and decided to attack her with a dagger because he believed she intended to kill him.
Clicking her tongue, she remarked, "I never knew you were this gullible. How the hell did you come to the conclusion that I want to kill you with these innocent words?" She said as she managed to push away from him, as he seemed to have let his guard down. He didn’t move to cage her again and instead asked her to tell him the meaning.
For a cursed prince, who she thought was cold and heartless, he seemed desperate to learn.
"If you said I murmured it in my sleep last night, then you mean McDonald’s and Starbucks. I had a wonderful dream of eating McDonald’s burgers." She explained to him what they were when she saw the confused frown on his face.
"Where do those kinds of food originate from?" he asked her. The more he learned about this woman, the more confused it made him because everything she was saying were things he’d never heard of before. He was well-versed in many cultures in other kingdoms, as he’d been studying them for years to know which ones he’d seek for support when the time comes, but he’d never heard of any of these cultural foods and curse words.
"They are from a world different from this," Ave said as she stared at the flickering candle lights. "A world much more beautiful than this place—my home and time." She muttered the last part under her breath.
"Which kingdom are you from?" she heard him ask. Even though she wasn’t looking at him, she could feel his eyes boring into her from the side.
"I am not from any kingdom. I am from the future, 2024." She told him as she turned her head to glance at him.
Lucian let out a humorless laugh. "If you don’t want to tell me, fine. I’m not interested, as long as you are not possessing this body because you have bad intentions." He said, not believing her words about coming from the future.
Ave hadn’t expected him to actually believe her, as him believing her wouldn’t change the fact that she was stuck here for who knows how long. If she were in his shoes, she wouldn’t have believed herself either. Things like transmigrating from the future to the past weren’t things that happened in reality.
But then she’d somehow hoped he’d believe her so that whenever she did something he found wrong, he wouldn’t come after her life for it, as the world she came from was completely different from his.
"Believe me, I am not from here. I used to live in the future." Ave said calmly.
Lucian was about to tell her to save her words because he wasn’t going to believe that she came from the future. However, his eyes finally registered the attire she was wearing, which he’d failed to notice until now. She wore a weird trouser and a small top that stopped just below her breasts while leaving her belly exposed.
His eyes traveled around her body, how the curves around her waist cinched her stomach in then broadened down to her hips where the trouser sat, one could see her curves on display. His gaze settled on her face, a displeased frown on his face.
"What is this you’re wearing? Have you no shame at all?" he asked, as no lady would wear something that showed her belly and revealed the shape of her legs. This was why they always wore dresses, but this woman here had worn something even a courtesan wouldn’t be found wearing.
Had she been walking around in this all day with men around the palace? He didn’t know why, but the thought that the men around his palace had seen her like this didn’t sit well with him.
Every woman from their era, whether a commoner or an elite or royal, would never be found being careless with their body, but this woman, who had claimed to come from the future, had worn it and even stood without shame in front of him when he wasn’t her husband.
Ave pursed her lips as he kept regarding her with an unreadable expression before she opened her mouth to defend herself. "This is not a big deal where I come from. Compared to what we usually wear, this would be considered decent in my time, so don’t look at me like I’m a prostitute."
Lucian snorted. A prostitute? Not even a prostitute would be found wearing this. "Where did you find these clothes?" he asked, as he knew Selene didn’t possess such clothes despite her being worse than a whore for sleeping with his brother behind his back and conceiving his child before killing it.
The thought alone always made him angry to the point he never wanted to see her face, and for some reason, he was grateful that this imposter always had a different facial expression and demeanor from Selene. She had a rebellious nature to her, and her stance was nothing compared to the graceful way Selene carried herself. And the eyes...
Selene had a deeper blue shade, while after last night when he discovered this woman to be an imposter, her eyes had strangely changed to a lighter shade of blue. And before Ave could speak, Lucian had said:
"Wherever you got the attire from, I want it burned. Don’t ever wear it again." He ordered.
Ave’s brows drew together as she eyed him up and down.Who was he ordering with that tone of voice? She thought with a scoff. Did he think even if she had made this attire for herself, she would burn it just because he had said so, not to mention it was something magical?
However, to avoid making him angry and ending up being threatened with his dagger, she said, "I can’t burn it."
"Why is that?" He narrowed his eyes at her.
"Because it’s something that belonged to your late mother," she informed, causing Lucian to raise a brow.
Was she trying to insult his late mother by implying that she wore such a horrendous attire? And with that thought, his eyes darkened.
"What do you mean?" he demanded.
"Look," Ave said as she closed her eyes and thought about a lovely dress from her time, which she had always dreamt of owning, and to her surprise, the attire began to transform into it.
