Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches -
Vol. 1 - Ch. 315 - Strangling in the Dark
Things had escalated to a point where no one doubted that Bai YongKang might turn the gun on himself next. The entire banquet hall fell into a deathly silence.
But just as quickly, Bai YongKang swung the gun back toward Bai XingQi.
Bai XingQi drew a deep breath, fists clenched tight—she wanted nothing more than to punch this man to death.
So-called blood ties were utterly worthless. Bai YongKang had even dared to kill his own father—what else wouldn’t he dare do?
“Bai XingQi, do you see now? No one can oppose me. Right now, I am the one with the most power in this room!”
Below the stage, Xia XiaoXi was shielded in the arms of Xia Chen and Xia GaoWu.
She had witnessed the murder just now with her own eyes. Never had she imagined she’d end up in a situation like this.
That man had gone completely mad. Her only hope now was to escape safely.
But she had searched all around earlier and hadn’t seen any sign of HuMing. Perhaps… he had already escaped.
At that thought, Xia XiaoXi finally let out a breath of relief.
The banquet hall remained steeped in silence. Everyone listened intently to Bai YongKang’s deranged monologue.
Gu WeiJun knelt beside his father, trying to offer comfort, but his father showed no sign of fear or panic—he wasn’t even the slightest bit shaken.
But he, too, had noticed that HuMing was no longer in the hall. That, at least, was good news.
“Dad, HuMing’s gone,” Gu ZhaoChuan whispered beside him.
“Mhm. He probably escaped. Right now, everyone needs to protect themselves. No more accidents,” Gu WeiJun said quietly.
But just as the words left his mouth, someone burst in from the entrance, panting heavily, panic written all over his face.
“Mr. Bai! There are police all over the stairwell!”
“Oh?” Bai YongKang sneered. “No problem. We have plenty of hostages. They wouldn’t dare barge in. Go warn them—if I see even one cop step inside, I’ll kill a hostage.”
A cruel grin spread across his face as he scanned the crowd. No one dared meet his eyes, afraid they’d be singled out.
But something about the situation made him narrow his eyes. He shoved Bai XingQi aside and quietly moved toward the closed curtain of the balcony window.
Outside, the place was already swarming with helicopters and police. If anyone could escape this, they’d have to be some kind of genius.
But truth be told, he had no plans of walking out of here alive.
He opened his mouth to order his men to guard the exits—but in that very moment, the venue’s lights went out.
Panic erupted.
Bai YongKang, startled by the sudden darkness, instinctively raised his gun toward the stage—
But Bai XingQi was already gone.
His pupils shrank. He opened his mouth to warn the others, but the next second, something slammed into the back of his skull.
His mind went blank, and he collapsed unconscious.
At the same time, several beams of light cut through the darkness, locking onto the gunmen. A flurry of gunshots rang out, and one after another, the armed thugs dropped.
Some tried to raise their weapons, but before their fingers even touched the triggers, bullets ripped through their skulls with deadly precision.
Screams echoed throughout the hall. A few of the criminals tried to grab hostages as human shields—but before they could even follow through, they were already dead.
“Secure the hostages!” a commanding voice shouted from the direction of the gunfire.
Though panic lingered in everyone’s hearts, the sound of the police brought an overwhelming wave of relief.
“We… we’re okay now, right?” Xia Chen panted, scanning the surroundings with wary eyes.
Moments later, the lights flickered back on. The hall was now littered with the bodies of the attackers. The guests who’d been huddled in the center slowly raised their heads to take in the scene.
Most of them had never experienced anything remotely like this. One moment, they were attendees at a banquet, the next, they were hostages. Their minds struggled to keep up.
But once they realized they were truly safe, many collapsed from sheer exhaustion and fear.
Gu WeiJun looked around at the people beside him. Seeing that they were unharmed, he finally let himself relax.
He reached out to help his father up, but the old man slapped his hand away.
“I’m fine. Just a minor incident.”
“Dad… are you serious? You call this minor?”
“This kind of thing happened all the time back in the day. You weren’t even born yet,” Gu Zhouting said with a scoff.
He had indeed been surprised when Bai YongKang gunned down the old man—but it was nothing more than karma in his eyes. If the old man hadn’t spoiled Bai YongKang so thoroughly in the first place, none of this would’ve happened.
Gu WeiJun wanted to check on his wife and Gu ZhaoChuan, but suddenly he heard the anxious voices of Gu YunZhou and Gu YunQin.
“Where’s Dad?!”
“Don’t panic, YunQin. Let’s look for him first,” Gu YunZhou said with a furrowed brow. He was far calmer than his sister.
At that moment, Gu WeiJun snapped his gaze toward the exit. A terrible suspicion began to form in his mind.
…
Bai XingQi dumped a bucket of cold water onto Bai YongKang’s face.
The unconscious man jolted awake immediately.
The moment he saw Bai XingQi, terror flickered across his features—he looked like a man conditioned to fear her.
Her gaze was icy and detached, fixed squarely on him.
“So, things have reached this point. What kind of ending do you think you deserve?”
“Ending? My only mistake was not killing you when I had the chance!”
Bai YongKang slowly pushed himself off the floor. His eyes burned with rage—he had driven himself into a corner.
“I never understood your hatred for me, I never competed with you, never fought you. Why did you have to push me down this road?”
“You’re not even qualified to fight me! You don’t belong in the Bai family! Your mother was a whore—how could you ever compare to me?!”
But Bai XingQi’s expression didn’t change.
She had no real feelings for her parents. Her very birth was a tragedy. By now, she had nothing left to lose.
“You’re right. I’m not one of the Bai family. Which is why I don’t owe them anything.”
“You think that if I die, you’ll be safe?” Bai YongKang laughed bitterly. “Most of those thugs had the ‘Blizzard’ mark. When the authorities find out, your entire organization will go down with them!”
“What happens next has nothing to do with you.” Bai XingQi raised her gun and pointed it at him.
But suddenly, a man’s voice rang out behind them.
“Drop the gun. Hand Bai YongKang over to me.”
