Chapter 572: An enquiry at Angel hospital

Upon reaching the top floor, Liu Ying found Tong Chunian waiting for her. With a friendly smile, he greeted her and then led her to Xi Ting’s office.

"Miss Liu, good to see you! My boss is expecting us. Follow me."

Liu Ying smiled gently, "Thank you, Mr. Tong."

Tong Chunian guided Liu Ying through the pristine corridors of the top floor. The corridor leading to the office was adorned with minimalist artwork, creating an atmosphere of sophistication and exclusivity. The hushed ambiance suggested a serious and focused working environment.

As they approached Xi Ting’s office which occupied the entire floor, Tong Chunian knocked on the door before entering.

Tong Chunian: "Boss, Miss Liu is here for our meeting."

A cold voice sounded from inside, "Come in!"

Tong Chunian opened the door and led Liu Ying in. The office was spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the city skyline. A large, polished desk occupied the center of the room, neatly organized with documents and a sleek computer.

Xi Ting looked up and asked Liu Ying to take a seat. Liu Ying nodded calmly and took her seat in front of Xi Ting’s desk.

Amidst the distinct atmosphere of Xi Ting’s office, Liu Ying remained remarkably composed. Unlike others who might be intimidated by Xi Ting’s commanding presence, or those captivated by his charismatic looks, or even those whose greed for power and money was evident in their eyes, Liu Ying displayed an unusual calmness. She neither exhibited servility nor conveyed an overbearing demeanor.

Tong Chunian asked Liu Ying as soon as she got seated, "Miss Liu, what would you like to have?"

"A glass of warm water, please," Liu Ying replied with a smile.

Tong Chunian nodded before he asked the secretary to fetch a glass of warm water for the lady.

When Liu Ying settled down, Xi Ting said, "I wish to ask you a few questions. I hope you can answer truthfully."

Liu Ying nodded, "Sure."

"How did you find my son?"

"I had gone there for food delivery when I noticed that something was wrong. Thus, mustering up the courage, when I got the chance I rescued the little guy," Liu Ying replied.

"Did you see any other hostage?" Xi Ting inquired.

"The room in which your son was in, I did not see anyone else who was held captive."

"Did you find anything else which was wrong there and which could help in our investigation?"

Liu Ying shook her head, "In order to rescue the child, I did not focus on any other details. After all, I didn’t know that there was another hostage. So, I felt that once the child was rescued, the police would eventually find out about the culprits."

Xi Ting nodded thoughtfully. There was nothing to pinpoint about whatever Liu Ying said. However, he could not get anything from her replies. It was just that he felt that something was strange about this woman, but he could not point out what was strange.

Thus, after he was done with his questioning, he asked Tong Chunian to escort her out.

Over at the hospital.

Qin Yicheng had woken up. And as soon as he woke up, he saw his daughter Qin Muran in front of him. Qin Mufeng had gone out to buy some medicines and Qin Muran was the one who was present at the hospital.

After he woke up, the doctors gave him a full body checkup. Soon, the reports came out. Qin Yicheng was extremely fortunate, as he had recovered quite a bit and was almost as good as new, his speech and mobility unhindered.

But the doctor advised against returning to work soon. He might not need to be hospitalized, but he was still expected to stay and rest at home for a few months.

Qin Yicheng was worried about his company after being hospitalized for a long time, so he ordered all the work accumulated or settled during his stay at the hospital to be compiled and reported to him.

One had to praise Xi Yaohua’s ability, the accounts of Qin Yicheng’s company were tweaked without being suspicious. Even now, as Qin Yicheng was hearing the report, he could find nothing wrong with it.

Qin Muran glanced at her father from the corner of her eye and when she understood that Qin Yicheng found nothing suspicious, a smile blossomed on her face. Her Brother Hua was too talented.

A few days passed by but nobody was able to trace Qin Yan. However, one day while Xi Ting was engrossed in his work at the Xi Corporation, he received an unexpected call from the Angel Hospital. The hospital manager at the hospital informed him that a woman had inquired about a child born six years ago in September, and remarkably, the date of birth matched exactly with the birthday of Xi Ting’s son, Xi Xiaobao.

"Young Master Xi, there’s a woman here at the hospital inquiring about a child born six years ago in September. Strangely enough, the birthdate and the time of birth she mentioned matches with the little young master’s birthday."

Xi Ting, momentarily taken aback, felt a surge of curiosity and concern. The unexpected connection between the woman’s inquiry and his son’s birthdate raised questions in his mind. With a mix of intrigue and caution, he instructed the receptionist to gather more information about the woman before deciding how to proceed.

"Gather any available details about this woman—her name, purpose of inquiry, and if possible, ask her to wait. I’ll be there shortly."

Meanwhile, Liu Ying stood patiently in front of the hospital reception, her gaze drifting across the bustling environment of Angel Hospital. The receptionist, having gathered the information about Liu Ying’s inquiry, asked her to wait while arrangements were made.

"Please wait for a while ma’am until we gather the information. If you could please have a seat, we’ll make sure you’re attended to as soon as possible."

Liu Ying, maintaining her calm demeanor, nodded appreciatively and took a seat in the hospital waiting area. As she waited, a mix of emotions played on her face—anticipation, determination, and perhaps a hint of anxiety. The significance of her inquiry at the hospital seemed to weigh on her, and she remained composed as the minutes ticked by.

The receptionist, curious but professional, took the opportunity to inquire about the nature of Liu Ying’s visit.

"May I ask why you’re inquiring about a child born here six years ago? Is there a specific reason for your visit?"

Liu Ying hesitated for a while before she spoke, "Actually, I’m looking for information about my son. He was delivered in this hospital, and I’m hoping to gather details about his birth."

The receptionist was shocked to hear Liu Ying’s words. She immediately contacted the hospital manager and informed him about the new information.

Soon, Xi Ting arrived at the hospital. He made his way directly to his office, a space within the hospital. The hospital manager followed him, and briefed him about the details provided by Liu Ying.

"Young master Xi, the woman is inquiring about a child born six years ago. She mentioned the time and the birthdate which matches little young master’s birthday. She’s seeking information about her son’s birth, delivered here at the hospital."

Xi Ting, deep in thought, considered the implications of this unexpected connection. After a moment of reflection, he decided to meet with the said woman personally.

"Bring the woman to my office. I’ll speak with her directly."

The hospital manager acknowledged Xi Ting’s instructions and swiftly made arrangements to escort Liu Ying to Xi Ting’s cabin.

As Liu Ying entered Xi Ting’s cabin, both she and Xi Ting were taken aback by the unexpected encounter. Xi Ting, seated at his desk, looked up and was stunned to see Liu Ying standing before him. Simultaneously, Liu Ying, her eyes widening with surprise, was perplexed by the situation and wondered why the hospital manager had brought her to Xi Ting.

Xi Ting asked, "Miss Liu? What brings you here?"

Liu Ying was confused as to why Xi Ting was here, "Young Master Xi? I... I was inquiring about my son at the reception, and the hospital manager told me to come here. I didn’t expect..."

Xi Ting, still processing the situation, gestured for Liu Ying to take a seat.

"Please, have a seat. Let’s discuss what brings you here. The hospital manager mentioned you’re looking for information about a child born six years ago."

Liu Ying appeared to be hesitant in this situation, "Young Master Xi, this is my personal matter and I want aid from the hospital. Why should I share this with you?"

"Miss Liu, I am the owner of this hospital. So, telling me everything will help you inquire about the matter from the hospital. And if you don’t let me know, the hospital won’t be able to help you," Xi Ting said.

Liu Ying thought for a while before she took a seat, ready to provide more details and understand the unexpected turn of events.
