Chapter 84: A proposal

"Star?" I forced a smile, looking at her, but not looking at her.

"Oh, my Goddess, Brys! You need to hurry!" She took my hand in hers and started running towards the general hall.

"What is it, Star? Are you okay? Why are you dragging me back to class?" I tried to stop her, but she kept on dragging me until we got to the door. She let me go and stood next to me.

"What’s wrong, Star? Why did you bring me here? Did any of the teachers forget an announcement?" I glanced at the gates, at the first years, who were walking through it, into the school.

Unlike them, I joined the Academy late, which was why I didn’t spend years here. I only spent months here.

"Well....."

The door opened, cutting her words off.

"Star, why did you drag Brys off?" Ray caught up with us, heaving like one who ran a marathon. "You —" he froze when he noticed the students packed by the door, staring at me with indescribable expressions on their faces.

"What the hell is going on?" I glanced behind me, stared at the students, and turned to look at Star before I focused on the students once more.

As one, they parted, leaving a long trail, to fit someone.

I stared at them, wondering what the hell was going on. Why are they parting? What the hell is going on with them?

There were roses littered on the floor, leading straight down the hall. Star took my hand in hers and started walking down the path.

"What the hell is happening, Star?" I asked once more, but she didn’t reply.

As we went deeper, the students continued to path until we reached the end.

I stopped, confused by what was happening. The students in front parted ways further.

I stared at the path they made and would have turned had it not been for the familiar black hair I saw. Storm appeared, with a smile on his face, and his hands behind his back.

"Storm?"

I stared at him like a fool as he closed the distance between us. The students continued to part for him until he reached me.

"Storm?" I stared at him when he stopped in front of me with that goofy smile still on his face.

"Since the first time I saw you, Brys, I knew there was something special about you," he knelt on one of his knees and held a box in his hand. "Back then, I thought it will be fun to mess with you, make you break, see the anger in your face, and laugh it off. However, when I got to know who you are, I fell hard in love with you. I don’t know what it is about you that makes me crazy, makes me wish to embrace you and hold you tight," he smiled at me.

My heart hammered in my ribcage, beating louder than ever.

"I don’t know when I fell in love with you, but I did — harder. You showed me what love is, and what it means to love," he smiled up at me. "You are the most beautiful Omega I have ever laid my eyes on. You are strong, kind, courageous, and bold. Your courage endeared you to me, and made me love you deeper."

The students standing around us stared at us with happy faces and bated breaths.

"You are it for me, Strawberry. I’m grateful to be among those who you cherish," he smiled.

Tears pricked at the side of my eyes, I squinted, to keep them in place, to prevent tears from sliding down my face.

"I know I never asked you properly, to be my boyfriend, Strawberry. That’s why I’m doing it now, staring up at you, in the midst of the others, to show how much I love you, and what I feel for you," he opened the box, and a ring glittered. "This is a promise ring, Strawberry. My grandma made this for me before she died. It was to be given to the person I love. And now that you are here, I don’t doubt it any more. Will you be my boyfriend, and spend the rest of your life with this unworthy man?"

I stared at him and turned around to see the other students expectantly looking at me. Behind him, Theo and another stood, with a bunch of roses in their hands.

"Where were you last night?" I folded my arms, and pursed my lips, staring down at my boyfriend who left me to sleep alone only to return now to ask me to be his boyfriend.

Puh-lease

I need to know what happened.

"I was getting our home ready." He ran his left hand through his hair and flashed a smile my way. "I wanted it to be a surprise, that was why I didn’t tell you about it. So, will you be my boyfriend?"

"Say yes!" Ray nudged me when I didn’t say a word. He sounded eager for me to reply.

Everyone held their breath, staring at me as if they were expecting me to refuse, shake my head or do something else.

I stared at the ring in the box, and back at Storm before I wrinkled my nose. "Taking the thing means I get to be tied to you? Who wants that?" I folded my arms and stared at the ring as if it were some chains that will wrap around me.

"Brys?"

There were shocked gasps around when they heard my reply. They were all wishing for me to say ’yes’ to his question, but instead of that, they got a negative instead.

"Yes! Of course. Put that damned ring on my finger. You are stuck with me, Storm. Forever!"

The people around chuckled, while I smiled at Storm, who quickly slid the ring on my finger before he rose from his kneeling position and enveloped me in a hug. He stared into my eyes with so many raw emotions it made me gasp.

"You don’t know how happy your reply made me, Strawberry. You know I love you, so much!" He placed both hands on my face and kissed me.

Shouts erupted from the students. Boos and claps escorted the kiss as I held him close, not ready to let go.
