Transmigrated As A Feisty Omega -
Chapter 150: The bug
Chapter 150: The bug
Phil wasn’t in the North wing like I thought he would be. I was just unlucky to meet Sky, who insisted on being a damned nagging human. Had it not been for our so-so relationship back in Blue Moon, I would have punched him to death. He was such an annoying man that I made a mental note not to pair him off with Ray anymore.
Ray was better off without him. His life would be so much better if he found someone who wasn’t as frustrating as Sky.
Fan mentioned nothing about them getting together, which means it wasn’t part of the major plot and wouldn’t change the ending. If it was, I would have been damned pissed if they ended up together.
It took a glare and some threatening to get Sky to tell me where Phil went. He was hellbent on infuriating me to give me any tangible information about what I wanted to know.
I left his wing and hurried to the Northern garden to look for Phil. I was moving against the clock, desperate to complete this so I could go to Storm. The only thing keeping me in the palace was the bug.
Phil was in the garden like Sky claimed he was. I figured he was playing tricks on me, even though I didn’t voice that as I left him.
"Brys?"
Phil widened his eyes when I got nearer to him. "What are you doing here? This isn’t the general garden, I hope you know?"
"Of course, I do. I’m not that foolish to miss my way now that I have gotten used to the palace."
If this were during my first week, when I still needed help to navigate the halls of the palace, it would have been true.
"I see." He smiled, joining his hands behind him. "Why are you here? Were you looking for me?"
I nodded. "Mm."
The calm smile he had on his face vanished, replaced by a worried one. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. I just wanted to spend the afternoon with you." Smiling, I strode over to the bench and sat, patting the space next to me. "We haven’t gotten that much alone time since we met in this world. Now that Storm isn’t around, I figured we can do some friends’ stuff, just like we used to, back on Earth."
"That’s great." He sat next to me. "I was even planning on doing the same after taking a walk," he said, his voice cheerful.
You see?
There was no way Phil would be the bug. This was the way he had been from the first time we met years ago, easygoing and friendly.
"How is life treating you in this place?"
"Not bad."
"Do you miss Earth?"
"Yeah, I do. Sometimes." He looked down at me. "I missed our days together. It was the best, you know? Even though I acted like you were the most annoying friend in the entire world, I secretly liked you."
"Oh."
I didn’t know how to respond to that, and could only nod. "Then you better compensate me by buying tons of manga when we return."
"Got that, mister." He grinned, reaching out to ruffle my hair. "Do you want to take a walk? I promise the beauty will blow your mind the deeper you walk. Sky’s garden is the prettiest in the entire kingdom. I tended them myself."
"Aren’t you being too boastful?" I lifted a brow, smiling as I got up from the bench and reached for him. "Let’s do it then. Let’s take a walk through your beautiful garden." I grinned.
"With all due pleasure." He accepted my hand and allowed me to help him up from the bench.
I took the lead, with him following close behind. The deeper we walked into the sweet-smelling garden filled with blooming flowers, the more I realised he wasn’t joking.
It was by far the most beautiful garden I had ever set my eyes on. There were different colours of flowers, so beautiful they took my breath away. I occasionally stopped in front of any that caught my eye, admiring the beauty as I ran my fingers over their petals and leaned down to take a whiff.
It felt like I was walking down the beautiful bridge that led to paradise. This was how I had imagined it, back when I was on Earth. I believed in a life that was so beautiful, it would make me forget all the hardship I went through on Earth.
"This is lovely," I whispered, more to myself than to anyone. "Let’s do this again. Let’s walk together again, tomorrow, okay?"
"I’m afraid we can’t," Phil whispered behind me.
I whirled around, my eyes widening when I saw the dagger in his hand. I gulped and drew a step back.
"What’s this, Phil?"
"I’m sorry," he said, with the dagger raised, poised for an attack. "I didn’t want to do this." He shook his head, tears running down his face.
It was then that I realised...
"You are the bug?"
He nodded. "My task is to eliminate you, to put an end to your mission, in exchange for my life."
I shook my head, trying to deny the truth. "No, this can’t be true. You are not the bug. You must be mistaken."
May was supposed to be the freaking damned bug, not Phil. I refuse to believe Fan had been right all along. He must have known it was Phil, hence his advice for me not to rush things without being certain of it.
"I wish I were." He glanced down, his shoulders dropping with his actions as he lowered the dagger. "I never thought the elimination object would be you. It would have been easier if it were someone else." He looked up and smiled. "When I saw you again, I was happy, excited to see the boy I had fallen for, even though I lived in denial back then. I wanted to be with you here, to stay by your side and win your heart, but I couldn’t. The more I hung with you, the more I got the urge to eliminate you from this world."
