Chapter 138: A stubborn system
BRYS
I can’t even tell what the ruckus about Kim was all about. I still stand by my words that Kim is a changed man. There is no way a boy as cute as the one I saw in the room could be a killer. There must be some misunderstanding, and I will eventually get to the root of the matter.
After visiting Kim in the room he was placed in, I returned to the room, only to get summoned by the Queen. I was only able to lie on the bed for just a minute or so before I got a knock on the door.
And right now, I’m heading towards the garden to meet the queen, whom I have only met twice since I saved her those days ago.
I have gotten rather familiar with the halls so that I don’t get lost any more. Humming to myself, I strode down the hall, past the statue-like guards, who didn’t so much as bat an eye when they saw me.
They have all gotten used to seeing me all the damned time since I’m not one to sit in a place without doing anything. And let’s not forget the guards I taught a lesson. My fame must have reached this part of the Palace.
"Hello!"
Fan materialized in front of me with a smile, "how have you been, dear host? Did you miss me?" He winked at me.
With a roll of my eyes, I continued down the hall, without paying attention to him.
"Hey! Are you just ignoring me?!" He appeared in front of me and folded his arms. "Why? Do you think I’m no longer important? Let me tell you, you will miss me when you upgrade because you won’t see me!"
"Huh? Where are you going? Travelling?" I raised a brow at him.
"Finally, he spoke to me!"
"What do you want?" I exhaled, not in the mood for any bad news because I knew what he would tell me. It’s either the percentage has decreased or he’s withholding me from seeing my cute babies until I pass this level.
"Ah," he pouted, looking hurt. "Can’t I visit you whenever I wish?"
"No, you can’t," I continued down the hall, almost to the door that led out to the garden.
"You seem busy," he chuckled. "Going to see your mother-in-law, are we?"
"She’s not my mother-in-law!" I snapped at him, glaring darkly. "She’s Storm’s mother."
"And you are not sleeping with her son? No?" He wriggled his brows at me. "She’s your mother-in-law!"
I sighed, "don’t call her my mother-in-law," I glared at him, blushing a bit at the thoughts, but trying to act like I didn’t like the sound of it.
"And he’s blushing," he winked at me.
"What do you want?" I tried to glare at him, but it didn’t come out as hard as I wanted it to.
"I came to visit you," he said in a serious tone.
"Why?"
"I have missed following you around all day. I will do it today since I don’t have anything to do. Those damned fellow systems have gotten rather boring," he folded his arms.
"Suit yourself, then," I continued, not ready to ask him about Storm’s percentage because I don’t wish to moan about it.
"And I will do that," he followed me, humming all the way as he tried to get me to pay attention to him.
I opened the door, and stepped into the garden, immediately spotting the Queen where she was at the farthest side of the garden.
With a smile on my face, I closed the distance between us, prompting her to turn to face me. Her face brightened when she saw me.
"Beautiful child, come," she gestured towards me, smiling from ear to ear.
"You asked for me, my queen," I made to bow to her, but she stopped me.
"No, don’t do that, my child," she shook her head. "You don’t need to call me by that formal title. It’s okay to call me mother."
"I said it!" Fan screeched.
"Mother?" I asked, ignoring my damned system as he made faces at me. It was impossible for me not to blush at the faces he made.
"Of course! You can call me by that... Well, that’s if you don’t mind," she blushed, joining her index fingers in such a cute way.
"I don’t mind," I smiled at her, pleased that she was willing to allow me to call her mother when her son hadn’t acknowledged me as his lover.
"Perfect!" She took my hand in hers and led me to the bench. "Can you call me mother, now?" She looked expectantly at me, beaming, unable to keep her happiness to herself.
"Mother?"
"I love it!" She clapped once more, blushing deeply. "You will call me mother from now on!"
"Yes, I will."
"Aww, is he blushing?" Fan chuckled. "Your cheeks look redder than a ripe tomato. What could have been the reason for that?" He asked, wrinkling his nose.
I tried to ignore him, but it was difficult to do when he kept on appearing in front of me.
"Are you okay?" Storm’s mother placed her right palm on my forehead in concern.
"Mm," I forced a smile, giving Fan a side eye to show him just how much I wish to kick his arse.
".... So, I was wondering what colour you like. There’s red and golden, blue and peach, pink and —"
"Wait a damned minute, why are you suddenly talking about colours?" I cut her words short, just to know why she was suddenly asking me about my favourite colours.
She blushed, looking away for a bit, "...you see, I was.... It’s just that...." She trailed off, not looking at me.
"She’s keeping something from you! Do you wish for me to find out?" Fan offered, looking like he’s more curious than I am to know what she’s hiding from me.
I shook my head before I focused on the queen, who hadn’t said a word yet.
"Are you okay?"
