Chapter 115: He’s a prince
Chapter 115: He’s a prince
I slowly peered up to look at him, shocked that he spoke to me when he sounded like he was moments from killing me earlier. Could it be that he wanted to know what happened to the Beta that looked just like him?
"He left." I sighed, not ready to speak of him again. Thinking of Sky gave me a nostalgic feeling. Funny how I feel that way when someone who looks exactly like him is in front of me. I can’t deny that I miss Dark Moon and all the people in it.
"Hmm." He nodded, and once more returned to his grumpy murmuring self.
We strode through the halls in silence until I heard sounds coming from somewhere up ahead.
"The entire royal wings are devoid of maids, only shadow guards are allowed up here. That’s why you won’t see any of them here. Before you step out, be certain you know where you are heading, or you have someone with you."
His words stunned me. I had to peer up at him, to make sure he was the one speaking to me and not someone, who looked exactly like him.
Perhaps, he’s just like Ray, a part of his former self still resides in his body. But why is it not the same with Storm?
"Thank you."
He grumbled under his breath as he turned a corner, making it seem like I was the one trying to make a conversation with him.
The moment we stepped into the next corridor, I was assaulted with noises, shuffling feet of the maids hurrying towards one destination or the two, and the raised voices of some of them, who are more gossip inclined.
The moment their eyes landed on us, they froze. At once, they knelt on the ground keeping whatever they had with them, next to them on the ground as they bowed, confusing the hell out of me.
I tried to understand why they were bowing, only to notice that their heads were all inclined towards Sky.
"My prince." The maids chorused as one, still bowing to him.
Stunned, I gaped at Sky, who didn’t stop, but continued down the hall as if he didn’t notice the maids out here.
So, he’s a prince? Like he’s Storm’s brother?
I furrowed my brows, wondering how many sons the queen gave birth to. Could it be that he was the one who tried to shoot Storm?
But...
"Hurry!"
Startled by his voice, I forgot what I was thinking earlier, and ran after him, trying not to piss him off.
He turned and continued down the hall, while the maids rose from their kneeling position, staring at us with their mouths agape as their eyes went from Sky and back to me. All these I saw because I was damned hell staring back at them. It was a feat walking forward while looking backwards at the maids, who were unabashedly staring at me as if I had somehow gotten another head or two.
"Do you want to leave this place or go to the kitchen?" Sky startled me once more with his questions.
"Well, food."
I have no interest in leaving because Storm is still here.
He chuckled but covered it with a growl, making it seem like laughing or anything related to it is somehow considered a crime.
"What’s funny?" I glared at his back, glaring hard at it and boring holes in his back.
"I will take you to the kitchen." He said, not answering my questions at all.
"So, you are a prince? Like a damned prince?" I asked once more, not ready to let go until he had answered all my questions.
"I thought you knew."
"What? Are you shitting me?!" My eyes almost boggled out of their sockets. "You are a damned prince, and you didn’t tell me? How the hell was I supposed to know you are one on our first meeting?"
"... Well... you saw me in the royal wing and —"
"But I called you a damned guard!" I felt like tugging his hair, to let him know exactly what I think of liars.
Okay, he didn’t lie to me. I just thought he was a guard when I saw him in the hall.
He shrugged, "you can also consider me to be that. I can be your guard," he chuckled once more, and this time, he didn’t hide it. "You don’t seem bad at all."
I folded my arms, and stared at him, "joking now when you almost strangled me for calling you a friend? You’ve got to be kidding me if you think I will smile at you." I folded my arms, looking a bit stubborn and not budging.
He turned, glanced at me and focused once more on where he was walking towards. "You don’t seem so bad," he shrugged, murmuring under his breath.
Had it not been for the advanced hearing I got, I wouldn’t have heard him at all.
"You admitted it!" I chuckled, closing the distance between us as I tried to keep up with him, which was damned impossible.
He muttered once more but didn’t say the words so loud for me to decipher, but I can swear he was smiling.
Well, this is progress.
My eyes went to his naked back, admiring the hardness of his muscles. Just like Storm and the rest, Sky matured a lot, but he’s still the same.
Unlike the prince who visited yesterday, he has more than ten tattoos on his back, and that’s saying something.
"What do the tattoos on your back mean?" I stretched my left hand to touch one of the tattoos on his back, but he recoiled like a snake, baring his teeth at me once more in a challenge.
"Chill, I was only trying to touch one of the wolves on your back," I frowned at him.
He relaxed a bit, but still kept his distance from me, as if he were afraid I might try to touch him once more.
"I don’t like being touched." He said matter-of-factly, glaring down at me, to tell me how much he means those words.
