Chapter 107: Still the same
Chapter 107: Still the same
"Your father awaits your presence." The guard bowed low to the ground, "if you don’t mind, my prince, I can escort you there."
Though the guard tried to put up a brave front, I can tell how scared he was. He looked as if he wanted to be at any place but here at this moment.
Not only does Storm’s reputation precede him, but the blood on his face and his wrapper are enough to send a mere man running for cover.
I thought he will refuse, so he could return and clean the blood from his face, and body. But he surprised me by asking the man to lead the way, in a not-so-friendly tone.
With shaky knees, the man rose from the ground, turned and headed towards the right, away from the stairs Storm intended to take.
I thought we were entering the rooms, but he surprised me by going forward down a hall you wouldn’t have seen had he not been the one leading.
The hall is behind a pillar, completely hidden, making it seem like there is nothing in the pillar.
He turned a corner and continued walking forward, with Storm trailing after him like an old man. I kept up his pace and tried not to walk past him, else he might also take that as an offence.
The guards behind us kept a respectable distance.
We continued to walk down the empty halls, prompting me to wonder if they have maids or servants in this area.
It seems odd for a palace to be this empty. The ones I see in dramas have maids hurrying towards their tasks, chatting and trying to keep up with the latest royal gossip.
But out here, not only are we the only ones here, but the sounds of our slippers are the only things you will hear.
We continued to walk until we came to another hall. Unlike the others we passed which are adorned with pictures of the last kings and wars they won, out here, there were nothing like pictures.
Gold ornaments, sculptures, and vases lined the hall. The flowers on the vases created a sweet scent in the air, making it seem like we were outside and not in a strange palace with no maids.
The man stopped in front of a door that was sculpted with an image of a wolf. Beneath him are all kinds of creatures, which looked like they were defeated by the wolf that’s howling up at the moon.
I scoffed at it.
Why do these damn animals always want to make it seem like they are the only dominant creatures in the world?
The guard with us rapped twice on the door before he stepped back. "My prince, your father awaits your presence." He leaned forward and slightly pushed the door open.
Storm turned to the guards, "stay out here. I will call for you when I need you." He said to the guards, who bowed to show him that not only did they understand him, but they will do as he asked.
"So, I will also stay here with them." I took a step back, but the glare he shot at me made me freeze. With a nervous chuckle, I stood next to him.
"Let’s go." He turned towards the door, and the shocked guard opened it for him, but not before shooting a curious look my way. I can tell he’s trying to know who I am, and why his prince wanted me to go in with him.
Storm strode into the throne room, and I hurried after him, not ready to be let out here with those I’m still unfamiliar with.
The throne room is lined with chairs on either side of the room, which is currently unoccupied. My eyes went from the plush carpet and straight to the golden chairs before they moved to the throne.
Just like the other chairs around, the throne is made of pure gold, which glitters when the light coming in through the window, touches it.
There are two people on the thrones, but from a distance, I can’t clearly make them out.
I had to hurry over to keep up with Storm, while I discreetly admired the beautiful throne room.
The closer we came, the clearer the people on the throne became.
A gasp left my throat at the sight of the familiar faces. They are still the same as Storm’s parents back in Dark Moon.
Goddess, help me.
Why are they still together, while Ray became friends with Storm? What of Theo? Is he still in this palace? If yes, has he met Ray?
According to his tales, Ray doesn’t have a person he likes. He believes he’s meant to be forever single, serving his prince to the best of his abilities.
"Father, mother," Storm bowed to his father before he did the same to his mother.
Like all the men in Thalma, the father is putting on a wrapper, albeit a golden one — don’t ask me. It seems the man is obsessed with gold.
On his chest are tattoos that looked almost the same as the one Storm has. His hair is completely shaven, giving him a funny look with the large golden crown on his head.
His wife, just like the women of Thalma is putting on two wrappers. Unlike her husband’s, her golden wrapper has red rose designs on them. On her waist are more than five beads, which seems a bit too big for her slim waist.
She has only two beads around her neck, two on both of her ankles and three on her wrists. The black dot in the middle of her eyebrows looked to be adorned with pearls, making it glitter even from the distance.
Compared to how she was back in Dark Moon, the queen is beautiful. Her now golden hair is packed up in a bun. A crown, that looked exactly like the one Storm wore on the day I was almost beheaded, rested on her hair.
Storm coughed as glared back at me, making me know that I had somehow committed a crime when I did nothing but stare at the beautiful people in front of me.
