Chapter 184: Chapter 179: The Tragic Liang Yi, Shinichi Who Tricks the Honest Person
The darkness had fallen outside.
The room was in utter darkness, not a single light switched on, so one could not see even their own hands before them.
With the tears on his face not yet dried, Fujimoto Ryosuke had calmed down from his initial grief and was now analyzing the events of the day with clear thoughts. He could confirm that the person who came to kill him was likely associated with the same group that had killed his parents.
Thus, he could eliminate the possibility that the assassin was sent by Asai Youki, for if Asai Youki wanted him silenced, he would only need to kill him, not his parents.
The opponent’s actions seemed more like an act of revenge.
That’s why Fujimoto Ryosuke suspected Iihara He, the father of Iihara Aiko. Maybe he had found out that he was the murderer of his daughter and had arranged for people to wipe out his family.
He who kills must be prepared to be killed.
He could understand and was even prepared to face the other party’s retaliation but never had he imagined they would be so ruthless as to attack his family members—that, he could not tolerate!
Even if he had to give up being a police officer, even if he ended up fleeing for the rest of his life, or was sentenced to death tomorrow.
He must exact retribution—blood for blood!
Fujimoto Ryosuke stood up and switched on the light, and the room was suddenly as bright as day. He squinted to adjust to the brightness, only then noticing a piece of paper on the coffee table.
He walked over and picked up the note, which read, "You might escape for a moment, but you cannot escape for a lifetime! You killed my child, I’ll kill your entire family!"
He stood rooted on the spot.
It wasn’t Iihara He.
It was the father of Iihara Aiko’s unborn child!
Fujimoto Ryosuke clenched the note tightly, his chest heaving violently and eyes nearly splitting with fury, and he turned to leave.
He needed to retrieve his gun from his place.
Then he would find Asai Youki and force out of him who the father of the child was, before killing him to take his revenge.
Fujimoto Ryosuke had not contacted Aoyama Xiu Xin, because this vengeance had to be carried out by his own hands, and he didn’t want to involve him, knowing that the identity of the enemy must not be simple.
The assassin probably hadn’t expected him to dare return to his place, so there was no ambush. Fujimoto Ryosuke opened his bedroom safe. In addition to money, there was a handgun, three full magazines, and a pile of bullets.
He decided to take all the bullets with him and then drove straight to the Asakai family home and rang the doorbell.
"Ding-dong! Ding-dong!"
"Mosi Mosi? May I ask who you are looking for?"
"Police Chief, it’s Fujimoto Ryosuke here to visit."
A moment later, the gate opened, and after Fujimoto Ryosuke entered, he saw Asai Ayumi opening the door. He bowed slightly and said, "Police Chief, I’ve come to see the Senior Police Director."
"Please follow me," said Asai Ayumi, with a look of surprise, as she had thought he might have had something to discuss with her.
Fujimoto Ryosuke followed Asai Ayumi into the living room, where she sat down with a thud and said to Asai Youki on the couch, "Dad, he’s here to see you."
Asai Youki turned his head to look at Fujimoto Ryosuke.
Fujimoto Ryosuke bowed to him.
"Come with me," said Asai Youki after staring at him for a moment, then got up and went upstairs.
Fujimoto Ryosuke followed him into the study, closed the door behind him, and said, "Please, Senior Police Director, tell me who the father of Iihara Aiko’s child is."
He didn’t beat around the bush because he couldn’t wait.
"What are you asking me that for? This matter doesn’t concern you anymore!" Asai Youki’s face changed immediately, and he frowned, asking, "How did you know her name was Iihara Aiko? Did you look through her identification? Didn’t I tell you to leave after doing the job?"
"This afternoon, I was attacked. My parents have been killed, the murderer left a note claiming it was revenge for the child. Senior Police Director, do you still think this matter doesn’t concern me?" asked Fujimoto Ryosuke.
Asai Youki’s expression stiffened and after a moment of silence, he let out a sigh and said, "Ryosuke, I’ll get you a sum of money. You should leave, the farther the better."
At this moment, he meant every word of it.
"Da!" the next second, the gun was held against Asai Youki’s forehead, and Fujimoto Ryosuke snarled ferociously, "I don’t want to leave! I want vengeance! My parents are dead, they were killed because of me!"
"That bastard, since he could find me, couldn’t he also find out it was you who ordered me? But why did he only dare to attack me—is it because I am the soft target? Even if I die, I want to make him bleed!"
He knew that such people could not be sanctioned by the law, and only blood revenge was the only choice.
"Ryosuke, calm down, you won’t be able to take revenge, and you’ll only get yourself into deeper trouble, let’s just end this," Asai Youki said earnestly.
"I want to end his life!" Fujimoto Ryosuke’s eyes were bloodshot, his breaths short, temples bulging, "Senior Police Chief Asai, don’t test my patience, tell me who it is, or else I’ll really shoot. Not just at you, but also at your family. I don’t care about anything now."
His gaze was deadly serious, his hand already resting on the trigger, scared he might accidentally fire.
"Stop! Calm down, Ryosuke, please, don’t be impulsive!" Asai Youki’s face changed color as he quickly tried to calm him with a few words, his expression fluctuating, then hesitantly said after a moment, "Kitano Kenji, the son of the Minister of Labor, Kitanohara, the child is his."
"What exactly is going on?" Fujimoto Ryosuke also wanted to understand why Iihara Aiko had to be killed.
Asai Youki took a breath, "Kitano Kenji had an affair with Iihara Aiko and got her pregnant. Iihara Aiko refused to listen to Iihara He’s wish for an abortion, insisting on keeping the child for love."
"But Kitano Kenji kept this a secret from his family, his wife comes from an influential background, so it was impossible for him to divorce her and marry Iihara Aiko. This meant Iihara Aiko could only be his mistress and bear his illegitimate child. Iihara He couldn’t bear the disgrace to his family, so he decided to kill his own daughter. It’s as simple as that."
The Iihara family had deep ties with the Asakai family.
Otherwise, Iihara He would not have chosen him for this task, nor would he have trusted it to him.
"Madman!" Fujimoto Ryosuke couldn’t believe it, no wonder the death of Iihara Aiko, as the daughter of the Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Finance Iihara He, hadn’t caused any uproar.
So, the true culprit was none other than Iihara He himself, all for the sake of maintaining family honor, he had someone kill his own daughter and unborn grandchild, monstrous.
Asai Youki said, "You don’t understand. For these influential and well-established families, family honor is always above all else. Moreover, what they’re never short of is children. A daughter who is disobedient and unwilling to uphold the family’s facade is an enemy to the family."
If Iihara He’s daughter bore a child out of wedlock to Kitano Kenji, wouldn’t that be a disgrace if the news got out? Would Iihara He and the Iihara family still have any face left?
"Why would he rather kill his own daughter than take revenge on Kitano Kenji?" Fujimoto Ryosuke asked.
Asai Youki didn’t answer the question.
But Fujimoto Ryosuke thought he had guessed the truth and said with a mocking tone, "Is it because the Kitano family is stronger than the Iihara family? Now, that’s really quite laughable."
Asai Youki still did not offer any evaluation.
"Thank you, Police Chief Asai," Fujimoto Ryosuke said slowly as he stepped back to the door and bowed.
Asai Youki looked at him with a complex expression and finally advised, "You should stop, Ryosuke."
Fujimoto Ryosuke shook his head and turned to leave.
Asai Youki walked to the window, looking down from a high vantage point as Fujimoto Ryosuke left his house, and he sighed to himself, "Ryosuke, aren’t you just a tool for Iihara He to take his revenge on Kitano Kenji?"
From the beginning, Fujimoto Ryosuke was destined for tragedy. Kitano Kenji found out about him because Iihara He deliberately let the information slip.
Iihara He guessed that Kitano Kenji would certainly act against Fujimoto Ryosuke to avenge the unborn child.
Knowing full well that the flame of revenge in someone like Fujimoto Ryosuke from the lower class would be fiercer and more direct, so by informing him about Kitano Kenji through Asai Youki’s words, he could naturally accomplish the act of killing with a borrowed knife.
After the deed was done, this ’knife’ was left to its own devices, which is why, after Aoyama Xiu Xin and Asai Ayumi got together, Asai Youki chose someone else to take care of the matter, not wanting to involve his own son-in-law.
Was he harming others?
Without a doubt, yes.
After all, sitting in high positions, the surface of high society may seem bright and shiny, but the underhanded struggles are even more brutal than those at the bottom. Who among them hasn’t been stained with blood? Who hasn’t done a few things beneficial to themselves but harmful to others?
But is Fujimoto Ryosuke innocent?
Not innocent either, because this is a choice he has made for the sake of his future, not one forced upon him.
It’s more tragic than anything, a person without any background, desperate to break certain chains, has to take risks and hope for a favor from some person of status.
With some luck, they could shoot to the top, or with bad luck, end up like Fujimoto Ryosuke, being manipulated without even knowing it.
............
Police Chief Hattori has only one son, named Hattori Aoshika, who is 20 years old, studying fine arts at Tokyo Art University, and thanks to the strict family discipline, he has always been a very honest person, even a bit timid.
If he didn’t tell anyone, hardly anybody would guess that he was the son of a high-ranking official.
His appearance was average, his personality was average, his academic performance was average, he had no special talents; he was the kind of person that one could only commend for being honest when wanting to praise him.
Such an honest person naturally had never been in love.
So now he was a bit nervous because a cute classmate with a hot figure and dressed in a black mini-skirt and stockings was standing behind him, staring as he painted a picture.
Finally, he managed to finish the painting under pressure.
"Wow! This is amazing, classmate! You are really talented; it’s so well done," the girl behind him said with a crisp voice and a face full of admiration. She then muttered to herself, "No wonder you were painting alone in the studio so late. It must have taken a lot of hard work to get this good."
Hattori Aoshika felt his heart rate quicken and his face turn red uncontrollably. Standing up, he said rather awkwardly, "No... it’s not that great."
This was the first time a girl had complimented him.
"Eh, you’re not very confident, huh? It’s really pretty good," the girl said as she poked her lips with her slender finger, blinked her eyes, and extended her hand, "Let’s get to know each other. My name is Cang Jindie."
"Hi! My name is Hattori Aoshika," Hattori Aoshika said nervously, extending his hand but not daring to grasp hers.
"Pfft~" Cang Jindie laughed and took the initiative to hold his hand, "Mr. Hattori, could you teach me how to paint sometime? I’m from the dance department, but I really like fine art too, please don’t say no."
"Hi! Of course, that’s no problem at all!" Feeling the cool softness in the palm of his hand, Hattori Aoshika felt like he was floating, agreeing with whatever she said.
Cang Jindie withdrew her hand, "Then it’s a deal.
""Hi!" Hattori Aoshika replied, a bit reluctantly.
"Heehee, see you tomorrow then." Cang Jindie waved goodbye, turned to leave, then suddenly looked back and smiled, "You can call me Chou-chan in the future."
Good thing she didn’t say: You can call me Butterfly in the future.
"Hi! Chou-chan!" Police Chief Hattori bowed.
He stood up after watching her skirt disappear from view, raised the hand that had touched Cang Jindie’s, pinched the fingertips, and lingered on the feeling.
He felt like he might be falling in love.
Is this what the seniors talk about when fate comes knocking?
Once Cang Jindie left the classroom, she took out a mobile phone from her bag and dialed a number.
"This guy is really stupid, just dumb enough to handle; in three to five days, he’ll be totally smitten with me, doing whatever I tell him," she said with a scoff, looking down on such men who wouldn’t be chosen even if they were the last option.
"Good, keep me informed," Nakamura Shinichi said with a slight smile and a dismissive tone on the other end of the line.
Police Chief Hattori was like a hedgehog.
So he had to choose a roundabout method of attack.
If anyone is to be blamed, it’s Police Chief Hattori for raising his son to be too honest, making him the Hattori family’s weakest link.
