Chapter 183: Chapter 178: Encounter with an Assassin, First Meeting with Dean Takazawa
Back home, he kicked the door shut and collapsed onto the couch with a sigh, rubbing his forehead wearily.
During this period, due to the reproach of his conscience and the fear of being retaliated against or silenced, he felt extremely drained.
Only when busy could he force himself not to think about these things, but once his work no longer distracted him, various thoughts would resurface.
He truly regretted killing Iihara Aiko.
But now, regret was useless.
After resting for a while, he prepared to take a bath, but the moment he stood up, his body stiffened on the spot, noticing out of the corner of his eye a faint footprint at the doorway to the master bedroom.
As Japanese enter their homes, they must change their shoes, and since he lived alone, it was impossible for there to be a footprint.
Fujimoto Ryosuke pursed his lips; he didn’t know if the person was still inside, but his service weapon had been handed in after work, yet there was still a gun at home, in the bedroom.
His first instinct was to leave, but then he wanted to know who had come for him and if it was related to Iihara Aiko. Knowing sooner would save him from constant dread and worry.
Fujimoto Ryosuke went into the kitchen, took a knife, and stealthily approached the master bedroom. Grasping the doorknob gently, he pressed down to unlock it and slowly pushed open a crack—suddenly, a sharp dagger stabbed out from the gap.
Caught off guard, Fujimoto Ryosuke quickly leaned back to dodge the knife, but his forearm was still wounded. As he dodged, he kicked out.
"Clang!"
The person behind the door was knocked back several steps by the door panel, and the door fully opened. Fujimoto Ryosuke could now clearly see the person—a man with a buzz cut, no older than thirty, with wheat-colored skin and a muscular build.
"Who are you, and why are you trying to kill me?" Fujimoto Ryosuke asked gravely.
But the assassin didn’t speak and, with a fierce look, charged at him again with the knife. Fujimoto Ryosuke met him head-on, fighting hand-to-hand. Shortly, he realized he was no match and kept retreating as they fought.
"Bang!"
Suddenly, he made a mistake and was kicked hard in the chest, knocking him straight to the ground.
The assassin aimed the knife fiercely at him.
In a panic, Fujimoto Ryosuke grabbed a stool and hurled it hard, striking the assassin on the head. The blow caused the assassin to stagger, almost falling. By the time he recovered, Fujimoto Ryosuke had already scrambled up and was frantically running toward the entryway.
Without a word, the assassin picked up the knife and chased after him.
Driven by a survival instinct, Fujimoto Ryosuke unleashed enormous potential. When they were only steps apart, he managed to bolt out the door and slammed it shut with a loud clang.
When the assassin opened the door, the hallway outside was empty, and Fujimoto Ryosuke was nowhere to be seen.
"Huff—huff—huff—"
Gasping for air, Fujimoto Ryosuke ran downstairs and ducked into a restaurant, leaning against a table, breathless, large beads of sweat constantly falling, his lips already turning pale.
It took him more than half a minute to catch his breath. He then went to a nearby public phone, picked up the receiver to call Aoyama Xiu Xin for help, but hesitated.
He wasn’t sure if the assassin was sent by Asai Youki to silence him. Although Aoyama Xiu Xin had a good relationship with him, he was also the Asakai family’s son-in-law and might not choose to help him.
"Clang!"
In the end, he didn’t make the call. Turning away, he took out a cigarette and lit it, puffing away with a confused mind, walking aimlessly down the street.
What was he supposed to do next?
Meanwhile, at the same time, Aoyama Xiu Xin had already arrived at the Tokyo District Court, where Jin Yucheng was waiting for him.
Ever since Jin Yucheng had been around, Aoyama Xiu Xin became bolder about having affairs with other men’s wives. After all, even if caught red-handed, he had a rescuer.
For him, Jin Yucheng was like Dian Wei to Prime Minister.
Walking into the courthouse, which was nearly empty, he made his way to Hashimoto Miho’s office where sparks were about to fly, but suddenly there was a knock at the door.
"Knock, knock, knock!" "Miho, are you in there?"
"It’s my husband," Hashimoto Miho whispered.
Aoyama Xiu Xin quickly let go of her.
Also quickly adjusting her dress, Hashimoto Miho sat behind her desk, took a couple of deep breaths to calm her guilt and nervousness, and tried to look as natural as possible.
Aoyama Xiu Xin opened the door and bowed to the gray-haired older man outside, "Dean Takizawa."
This was his first time seeing the real person of the Vice President of the Supreme Court, who was short and slightly plump, resembling Wu Dalang, with an inherently cuckolded aura.
"Police Chief Aoyama, what are you doing here?" Takizawa Shikou recognized Aoyama Xiu Xin, his eyes showing suspicion.
Before Aoyama Xiu Xin could speak, Hashimoto Miho walked over in her high heels, wrapped her arms around Takizawa Shikou’s arm, and leaned on his shoulder, acting like a tender and delicate wife, "Husband, the case that starts in court tomorrow is handled by Mr. Aoyama. There were a few things I didn’t understand, so I asked him to come over to discuss the details."
"Miho, there are people here. I’m old enough, don’t make others laugh at us," Takizawa Shikou tapped her hand, indicating her to let go, his tone slightly reproachful, but his face was filled with a smile.
32-year-old Hashimoto Miho, in a youthful manner, pouted and coquettishly said, "What’s wrong with hugging my own husband? Besides, you’re not old at all. This is called maturity, which is more charming than those young lads."
Watching the previously groveling Hashimoto Miho acting this way, Aoyama Xiu Xin could not help but understand why she could so bewitch Takizawa Shikou—what old man could resist such a scene?
"Oh, you, you." Takizawa Shikou shook his head helplessly.
Aoyama Xiu Xin quickly said, "Dean Takizawa is still sharp, to make a talented and beautiful woman like Judge Hashimoto remain infatuated is truly admirable."
Under the office desk, Takazawa Chiyu had regained some strength; hearing her father’s voice, she curled up tight, not even daring to breathe deeply.
"Police Chief Aoyama is too flattering. It’s all fate," Takizawa Shikou said, laughing proudly, his face full of affection as he turned to Hashimoto Miho and asked, "Are you done discussing official matters? I came to take you out for a meal, but if you’re not finished, I can wait."
"You came right on time; we’ve finished," Hashimoto Miho smiled lightly and asked, "What are we having?"
"French cuisine." After Takizawa Shikou replied, he turned to Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Police Chief Aoyama, you’re welcome to visit our home sometime. I enjoy exchanging ideas with young people, especially outstanding talents like you."
"Husband, I too really enjoy discussions with Police Chief Aoyama. He always delves deep into matters, broadening my horizons," Hashimoto Miho said seductively.
The corners of Aoyama Xiu Xin’s mouth curved up, muttering modestly, "Mrs. Takizawa, you’re too kind. Actually, I just try to keep things simple and direct."
Then, checking his watch, he said, "Well, I won’t disturb your time together any longer, I must be going."
"Take care, Chief," Takizawa Shikou nodded.
Watching Aoyama Xiu Xin leave, he turned back to Hashimoto Miho with a smile, "It seems you two had a good chat."
"Giggle, we hit it off. If it weren’t for our recent acquaintance being too presumptuous, I would have already asked to make him my sworn brother," Hashimoto Miho said tentatively.
Having this relationship would make interactions more convenient.
Takizawa Shikou neither confirmed nor denied, in his eyes, his wife was a woman without much cunning and easy to coax. If she thought highly of Aoyama Xiu Xin, that only meant that he was cunningly pleasing her.
But he didn’t mind; as long as his wife was happy, that was enough.
Especially since Aoyama Xiu Xin himself was also quite capable and well-connected; truly becoming sworn siblings would be a strong alliance.
"Alright then, if you acknowledge him, I’ll also recognize this sworn brother," Takizawa Shikou spoke softly.
"Ying, husband, you’re so good to me. I’ll go grab my bag." Hashimoto Miho’s eyes filled with love, but as she turned around, her expression turned cold. She picked up her bag and put on a smile again as she walked out the door, "Husband, let’s go."
Obviously, pretending to love someone is entirely possible.
And the person being loved still can’t discern it.
"Should we lock the door?" Takizawa Shikou asked.
With an impatient demeanor, Hashimoto Miho hurried him along, "No need to lock it, we have security cameras anyway."
You want to lock your daughter inside, right?
Hearing their footsteps fade away, Takazawa Chiyu under the desk finally breathed a sigh of relief, finding today particularly thrilling. Biting her red lips, she was still not over the excitement.
Fujimoto Ryosuke wandered the streets for a couple of hours before deciding to visit his parents, as accidents could happen anytime, and seeing them one less time mattered.
"Ding-dong! Ding-dong!"
He arrived home and pressed the doorbell.
But no one came to open the door.
He had left in such a hurry that he didn’t bring the house keys. Like his childhood times, he simply climbed over the courtyard wall. As he landed, his expression changed because he smelled a scent of blood.
Then he rushed forward, banging open the door and rushing into the house. The scene that greeted him felt like a heavy blow, causing him to drop to his knees.
He saw his parents lying in a pool of blood, one with a pierced neck, the other with a pierced heart.
Shaking all over, he opened his mouth to scream but couldn’t make a sound, tears streaming down his face as he repeatedly banged his head on the ground, punching it fiercely.
"Wuu wuu wuu... wuu wuu wuu..."
Suppressed sobs echoed through the living room.
