Chapter 249: Sentenced Girl-II

Chapter 249: Sentenced Girl-II

As if she hadn’t expected Malvo’s presence, Iliza’s eyes turned away as though ashamed to look at Malvo’s eyes directly, like a guilty who had just been seen through like a book. She turned around and rubbed her arms, smiling oddly, "It- It’s on her person. There is the evidence!"

"And what is it?" Malvo asked, amused, "Let us see, is it a bottle of potion but now reserved for my dearest brother? Or perhaps she had mixed it into all the water that was drunk by the guests in this place? Surely you didn’t just stop in killing Marissa did you? If you managed to kill her without leaving obvious evidence, you could have killed the rest of us inside this castle."

Lucien frowned, "Are you supporting her into killing us?"

"I’m saying that if she could kill Marissa, she could have killed this witness," Malvo pointed the foolish lie that had been overlooked by everyone else. He then snapped his finger, "If it was me, I would have killed the witness first rather than just locking her into a room."

"B- But someone would find out she was the one who had done it if she killed me- it must be why..." Iliza defended and Malvo only chuckled.

"You think too highly of yourself," he stated with a sigh, "Killing you is much easier than killing Marissa. There is no reason for anyone not to kill you actually, since you are nothing but a slave from the dungeon used for vampires’s entertainment. She could have pinned your death at one of the guests and no one would bat an eyelid."

"Are you defending the suspect, dearest son of mine?" Queen Morgana inquired, her eyes narrowing.

Malvo turned to his mother and shook his head, "How dare I? I just wish that you wouldn’t be put in harm if you decided to believe this slave’s words mother. You know how brother had just lost his sister, he wouldn’t be in much good state of mind if he finds out you mess with one of his people again."

"I’m trying to protect him, am I not?" Queen Morgana then turned her face with anger crossed over. "Besides. Why should a Queen fear the Crown Prince? For all we know Cassius took care of this slave far too well. Is it perhaps because he knew what she is and wanted to use her to attack one of us in this castle?"

"You don’t have to utter baseless accusations," Arabella cut through the Queen’s words, something no one dared to do in this hall, even her son. But she had enough of the people playing lies and tricks as though they were all performing under the large light of a theater stage.

"It would backfire to you if you dare to smear a name that is sinless," she added, "That girl said that I have the evidence in my body, tell me what it is then."

Queen Morgana never liked Arabella, especially how daring her tone was. The smile on her lips finally cracked under Arabella’s demand and she snapped her fan close with an anger slap.

"Speak slave," demanded the Queen to Iliza who had bowed her head down, gritting her teeth as she does so.

"I- It is still on her body! She had done something no h- human could ever possibly do." Iliza gritted her teeth, "I was too fearful as I couldn’t stop her i- in time, so I had held one of the vase and broke it to her head. Sh- She wasn’t breathing then! I rushed to find a guard who could help me prove that she has died but then- then- she’s here... she’s still alive."

Arabella’s lips turned wide.

How could she ever predict that Iliza would instead use her own sin as an evidence?

No. Iliza knew she had died from being attacked and had instead watched there. Iliza... knew Marissa was going to be killed and had to stop her, even if it means by killing her.

And she did it without a single hesitation.

"I see," Queen Morgana burst out into a laughter, "So the evidence is that this girl will not die even after you kill her. That surely will prove you to be one of those beings who had turned vampires into remnant indeed. After all, creatures who could turn a vampire into a monster must be able to turn themselves into a creature that wouldn’t die as well."

Arabella could feel the anger of the mob against her going even stronger.

Malvo frowned as he looked around, finding that no one was on their side anymore, even those who had once questioned the Queen’s words.

"There’s no way..."

"Undead? She can’t die even after being killed?"

"But how could we believe just one slave’s words? That sounds impossible- to come back from death? She isn’t a god."

"Indeed," the Queen who heard the words nodded, "It is far too absurd to believe that a person could come back from death after dying, especially just from a single person’s words. The last time I had heard someone could come back from death was the time when Cassius went to the battlefield but that had been disapproved."

Everyone who heard this seemed to have gone still, as though they had recalled something they wished they didn’t have to.

Arabella who saw this could see the Queen stepping closer to her, grinning.

"Do you know how Cassius’s rumors were put to rest? Having a Crown Prince who is a monster and couldn’t die is far too frightening don’t you agree?" The Queen extended her hand and at once one of the guard rushed to place a thin silver sword to her hands. "To find out what you really are, and whether the words that slave uttered is just lie or pure truth, we could simply put you into the said situation, don’t you agree? If we stab your little heart, girl, and you come back to life. You will have no more words to say against us, correct?"

Arabella’s face quickly turned horrified and the Queen’s face seemed even more delighted seeing the fear on her face.

"Your master did it once. He stabbed his own heart to prove he isn’t a monster. So you, could do it too, right?"

Then without any hesitation and before Karnala could move, the Queen reached out her sword, directing the sharp end of the blade straight to Arabella’s heart!
