Chapter 248: Sentenced Girl-I

Chapter 248: Sentenced Girl-I

In less than a second guards appeared all over the hall and swiftly they put Karnala to the ground, placing the sharp end of their sword to her neck, causing for Arabella’s heart to drop. She snapped toward the gathering crowds, "Stop it! Stop- What are you doing?!"

Then she frowned and turned toward Iliza who had hid behind Minister Rueben. She looked scared, shaking and trembling out of fear but Arabella could see the smile on the corner of her lips when their eyes met, showing how she wasn’t truly fearful of her, rather happy to see her plight.

"What are we doing?" Lucien took a step forward and smiled wider, "We are putting the monster back to where they belong. Then we have to put you as a lesson to all those humans of what the consequences they would receive if they dare to cross against us."

"Monster?" She then turned to look everyone who had surrounded her, all of them looked scared, almost too fearful to be true as they stood there, whispering about how she should be punished, how death was almost too graceful for the person who had caused their beloved princess’s death.

It was almost laughable how everyone had at once trusted Lucien and Queen Morgana just by one simple statement said by Iliza.

Gripping her fingers into a fists, she glared at Lucien, "What about me is a monster?" She then paused and turned to Karnala, "If I am a monster then there isn’t a need for you to put the maid down."

Queen Morgana chuckled as she snapped her wrist, opening her folded fan and waved it toward her face, "That maid is far too loyal to you and so we cannot allow her to put halt into our work. As for what part of you is a monster, perhaps the part of you who had sneaked into Marissa’s chamber and placed this potion in her room?"

Arabella looked up to see the green glowing potion inside a tear drop shaped flask. The queen shook the potion inside it, causing for the liquid to dance and just a glance Arabella could tell of how dangerous the content of that flask, perhaps due to her bloodline as a witch.

She pursed her lips, "And who had seen me walk into Princess Marissa’s bedroom to hide that potion?"

"This girl," Queen Morgana pointed her finger that was painted blood red toward Iliza. "She saw you and caught you red handed apparently," the queen smirked, "Then when she interrogated you, you threatened to kill her."

"So you believe her words," Arabella’s eyes fell on Iliza who had pretended to be pale and shaking.

Feeling eyes on her, Iliza yelled, "I saw her- I saw her using some kind of magic and then suddenly I was shut inside the room! By the time I was outside, I asked for the guards to help me find her, to stop her before she would put the Princess’s life in danger!"

Arabella squeezed her face, wondering what kind of novel Iliza was trying to write, and what kind of accusation was so easily believed by Queen Morgana.

Then it struck to her.

What if Queen Morgana didn’t just believe Iliza blindly?

No. What if Queen Morgana, Lucien, and Minister Rueben had planned this ahead?

Then... Marissa’s death.

The shock struck her like never before, causing for Arabella’s lips to go wide from shock. She tried to find the faces in the room, finding Aunt Eve who was beyond stunned as she stared back at her.

It was clear to her that Aunt Genevieve didn’t know anything about this, unlike her own son. She was far too grief stricken to understand whether Queen Morgana had lied but the anger that crossed her face once she heard Iliza’s accusation burned her like a searing pan.

Arabella gritted her teeth, understanding that no one- not a single soul- in this castle would be on her side.

"What evidence do you have that points to me as a monster?" Arabella calmed herself down as she asked the Queen. "Were there witness who saw me brought that potion other than Iliza herself?"

"The witness? Countless," Queen Morgana said with a chuckle, "That maid," she pointed, "The one over there, the servants on the other side of that pillar, everyone, even several guests saw you running around the castle once this slave caught you redhanded. You knew that there was no where to return once Iliza realized what you were about to do to the princess so you rushed ahead to kill Marissa, putting this potion into her which caused her to turn into remnant."

Only now did it dawn to Arabella how much of this had been planned by Queen Morgana. The King wasn’t here, like always, but her authority was enough to sentence her into a sin that she didn’t do and make everyone here to believe so.

They were all in a state of anger and disbelief, finding humans as the cause for their beloved kins’ death and they would do anything to kill the humans, even believing into the lies that Queen Morgana said despite knowing that something she had said was out of place.

This was their chance to show humans that they wouldn’t hesitate to kill their entire kind if they dare to attack them again- so the minister, the guards, and the guests, none said a word against the Queen.

"I didn’t do it," Arabella firmly state, she looked at the Queen, "It wasn’t me who had done it but the one behind this must still be in the castle."

"Oh and we are supposed to believe the words of a killer?" Lucien burst into a loud laughter, "What do you say Malvo? As a human you must have an easier time to differentiate between a liar and not."

Malvo who turned out to be there though his presence was hidden between the large group of guests who had been watching the scene stepped out. He didn’t say anything, his expression neutral.

He only pointed, "But I am curious of the evidence," he then turned to Iliza and smiled, "Because believing into only one person’s words is far too... foolish, don’t you agree?"
