Chapter 80: The Call of Nature (3)

"Xagrien!" That is all what Luis said and the both of them tacitly dodged the moment the moon elf lord retracted the Lord’s Dominion.

One went to the left then one went to the right.

The impact of the gigantic golem made the adjacent trees tremble and even some of them fell.

’Fuck! I am pretty sure that will instantly kill us!’ the moon elf lord thought as goosebumps appeared on his arms.

"Moon elf lord," Xagrien called. "What should we do to save Nereen? Do we need to kill this golem first to save him?"

"It’s..." Luis trailed off. The quest only said that they need to set him free! When Luis thought that the system could be reliable, it bites back to prove that it was otherwise!

Luis had to rack his brains to think of a way and his memory guided him to remember what he saw before Nereen was absorbed by the magic circle.

"The sphere! I saw a fist sized sphere! It is possible that is the place where Nereen’s consciousness resides," Luis excitedly blurted out. "Although most golems don’t have consciousness, unlike Nereen, they also need a core that stores energy"

The moon elf lord explained his guess.

"We need to find it and dig it out of this golem’s..." Luis looked up at the humongous stone creature and hopelessness struck him hard.

This is way too big!

The golem got out of the pit and it was about to attack them once again but Luis used his powers. Xagrien and him flew high enough to see the face of the golem.

It doesn’t have distinguishing facial features. The nose, lips and eyes are vaguely expressed by the clumps of stones. It isn’t even close to a sculpture.

The Stone Golem must have felt their presence so this time, it used its fist to hit them mid air. But Luis was on guard so he was capable of dodging it.

He felt a strong force of wind was created by this single punch from the giant.

Thankfully, despite the fact it has explosive strength, it has a relatively low speed.

Xagrien and Luis took advantage of this weakness as they dodge its killing attacks.

The moon elf lord use this opportunity to scan the Golem’s body in search of the sphere.

But it seems that Lord Isami didn’t make it easy for him.

"I cannot pinpoint the location of the sphere. The vitality that the root crawlers’ blood clouds my Cosmic Sense."

’The vitality of the trees is another form of nature’s energy. It was more tangible and heavy than the gaseous nature’s energy that moon elves absorbed. So it was very hard for me to see past this!’ Luis lamented deep inside. Looking for a fist sized sphere inside this hill-high golem is harder than looking for evidence of a cheating partner!

"We don’t have a choice then," Xagrien stated without any hint of frustration. "Let’s turn this Golem inside out."

The male god said it as if it was a walk in a park. It somehow made Luis confident too.

The two of them initiated an attack with an intent to start with the two vital places.

Luis landed on the Golem’s shoulder and proceeded to cut the neck with his twin short sword.

"Morning Wood," Luis activated the skill card until the sword was gleaming and it achieved its maximum hardness. Much harder than Legland’s dagger. He coated it with nature’s energy to enhance the blades destructibility.

One slash with both of his blades and a tremendous strength that he exerted, the Golem’s head is almost detached on it’s body.

"Fuck!" Luis cursed after seeing that few yellow strings kept the head from falling. "I can’t believe that this transmitter stone will give me another headache!"

It turns out that aside from receiving the orders and controlling the root crawlers, the stone in this fine string-like form acts like a bind that keeps the Golem together.

Boom!

An explosion happened under him and there, Luis saw Xagrien completely blasting a hole on the Golem’s chest. Fine strips of purple lightning are crawling on the stone chest of the golem.

The stones and the root crawlers’ blood splattered but the yellow-brown string remained like a frame.

"You didn’t destroy Nereen’s sphere too, right?" Luis asked. This male god!

"It shouldn’t be here." Xagrien reasoned out as if it was the most obvious thing.

’Oh, how I wanted to face-palm,’ Luis pulled his two swords and he returned to the ground with Xagrien.

The Stone Golem who received these damages, opened up its mouth- to Luis’ surprise- and let out a shrill cry.

"Kiiiieeeeekk!" It was a cry that is eerily the same as the root crawlers.

Waves of energy suddenly swept the entire forest, the animals and low-level mystic beast immediately ran away.

Luis who was observing this unfold noticed something severe. "The plants and trees are drying up!" He exclaimed.

That is indeed the case. All of the plant life in their vicinity has shed its leaves and the stems lost its vigorous look, making it look as if it was a dried wood.

"Now this explains why famine is included in the consequences of failure." The moon elf lord whispered. The loathing that he has for Isami Kolioda is spiking. ’I will definitely take my time, as I kill that asshole!’

In a matter of minutes, the entire area around them looked like a land of death. The damages that it once had regenerated almost instantly.

"If this is how it goes, Let’s make sure not to let it move to another place where it can regenerate." Luis said.

"Understood," Xagrien agreed as he bumped both of his fists together and a purple spark of lightning appeared. His entire body is covered with his elemental powers. "I will take care of its bottom and you will search for the sphere in its upper torso."

"Yes, as you should since you are the gong." Luis answered with a double meaning.

And the two of them made a preemptive attack.

Luis slashed the chest, neck and arms of the Stone Golem as he flew around. While Xagrien used his high voltage lightning to destroy or limit the movement of the stone golem.

"Is it just me or this Golem has become tougher?" Luis asked Xagrien.

Clang!

The loud noise made from the collision of his swords and the Golem’s fist sounded. Luis took a step back and landed on the ground. He stood in front of Xagrien and rested his back on the male’s firm chest and washboard abs.

"Hah... hah..." Luis was panting.

This earth creature is also not sitting idly, if Luis attacks, then it will either dodge or counter attacks like an intelligent being.

It should either because someone is controlling it or it is moving based on the stream of consciousness of Nereen.

Luis tried to communicate with him but the connection failed to reach so they didn’t have a choice but to manually search for the sphere.

"No, that is the truth." Xagrien affirmed. Now, he needed to concentrate his lightning in a single point to bore a hole in the Golem’s body.

"Are you tired?" Xagrien asked with a hint of concern in his purple eyes.

"Not anymore," Luis answered while he rested his head on Xagrien’s chest. He could hear the loud heartbeat of the male.

He looked up and saw that the male god also looked tired. Hence, he activated his Revitalize Skill for the both of them.

They backstepped the incoming foot of the golem and watched as it left a deep foot step on the ground.

A short break and they are back to attack once again. Thankfully, there are no living plants around them so it doesn’t have any chance to regenerate quickly. Probably it was the vitality in the root crawlers’ blood, the golem’s injury is still closing after sometime.

But the two pairs wouldn’t sit still either.

Luis and Xagrien cooperated tacitly for the search of the sphere.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Xagrien summoned three sprites of purple and destructive lighting to contain the Golem within the desolate area. Each of his punches on the golem’s leg carries concentrated and high-voltage electricity.

This is probably the first time that he overexerted himself since Xagrien became a four-star warrior.

The golem has no choice but to stay and stomp its feet, hoping that he can end the annoying thing in his feet.

It cannot send a punch on Xagrien since there is also someone who’s working hard to search for the sphere.

Jumping, flying and running. Luis moves flexibly as he inflicts damages with his sword. Fat drops of sweat are cascading in his back and face.

"Arghhhh!" He screamed like a warrior as he drove his blades deeper into the golem’s body.

A distinctive sound popped when his blades touched something inside.

"Kiiiieeeeekk!" The golem shrieked for the first time after it regenerated its body.

"Bingo" Luis smiled knowingly. He finally found what he was looking for. But before he could celebrate. A sharp numbing pain assaulted inside him.

"Arghhhhhh!" Luis cried. He could feel himself tearing up from the extreme pain.

Just where did this pain come from? It isn’t physical or mental pain but Luis feels that it was soul deep!

"Moon elf lord!" Xagrien panicked when he saw the bearer falling down. It was a moment of distraction but it was enough for him to be sent flying by the Golem’s kick. His body shot through multiple trees before it stopped away from the moon elf lord.

"Xagrien!" Luis grunted as he crouched in the fetal position. But the pain was too intense for him to move to Xagrien’s side.

The moon light that’s originally touching Luis’ face vanished. He looked up and he saw the wide foot of the golem. Ready to flatten him into a pancake.

’Is this the end? I just received a confession from a hottie and my cherry is still intact! I don’t want to die yet!’ Luis laments as he is wheezing due to the pain that is yet to subside.

But the reality is harsh. His teary eyes are glued to the approaching sole. Knowing that it would only be a miracle if he survived this attack, Luis just closed his eyes.

The next thing he knew, a ’Ping!’ sound came from the system and a strong breeze of wind came from both his sides.
