There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord!
Chapter 49: Who Is stronger (2)

Chapter 49: Who Is stronger (2)

The view around the tunnel’s entrance has shown an obvious change. The tall trees and shrubs around it disappeared without any trace and it was only left with a bald patch. Which dimensions should be around 400 meters in length and 500 meters in width.

It was basically like a track field on modern Earth.

But in this world, it was instantaneously made with the powers of the moon elf lord’s subordinates.

"Should we be staying here while they are working so hard?" asked Gab, one of the orcs. He threw away fruit scraps that were left from his lunch.

It was obvious that they are well-treated by the moon elf lord and his subordinates from the temple.

But Gab cannot help but be uneasy with this treatment. He is not used to it.

They are currently sitting under the comfortable shade of the tree as they are watching the busy sentinels doing the orders of their moon elf lord. Even the head sentinel named Legland and the head priest Nicol were cutting the trees!

Luis’ reputation among his new subordinates leaped because of this.

It is afternoon and the sunlight is ruthlessly hot at this time.

"I don’t think we should be staying here." He was about to stand up when Sylis stopped him.

"It is best to rest while we can. The moon elf lord said that we will be the ones to face the hordes of root crawlers once dusk comes. So we need to preserve our strength."

"But-" Gab’s sentence stopped midway when he suddenly saw rocks materializing out of nowhere. Slowly and silently, it formed into huge and thick circular walls.

"What is happening?!" The orc snappily stood up after witnessing this unfold.

The wall covers the entire space. It isolates the entrance of the tunnel from their view. Everyone had to climb up the tree just to take a peek inside the sturdy stone wall.

"This is unbelievable! What kind of thing is this?" Inside this tall structure was a series of interconnected smaller walls that formed a path in between. A simple circular maze.

The entirety of this structure looks intimidating considering the speed and scale of how it was made.

"How many sentinels worked to set this up?" Gab cannot help himself from asking.

"Shouldn’t you know that since you’ve been watching them ever since they started working?" a moon elf answered the orc.

"I just can’t believe that only five earth power sentinels can erect these walls that fast!" Gab exclaimed. Yes, he is watching their movements because as an orc who cares greatly about strength, he is curious about how strong these moon elves are!

But the result is overwhelming! Are all moon elves like them?

The orc eyed his moon elf friend with suspicion.

"Don’t look at me like that, we are not hiding our strength. Moon elves are varying in strength just like you, orcs."

"I heard they are three-star warriors. Xagrien is four-star but he can’t pull something like this."

Hares, the moon elf, felt like his patience snapped. This muscle-head friend of his!

"Yes, Xagrien is four-star but he uses lightning. You don’t expect him to suddenly conjure stones just like an earth-power moon elf, do you? Just look at the eyes and you will know the powers that they have."

"But Kalux is three-star and yet I haven’t seen him do something like this."

The moon elf feels like his nape is aching.

Does this friend even bother to learn anything about their race?

Hares was about to leap at his friend and hit him.

Seeing the conversation gets heated, Sylis stepped in.

"Gab, the moon elves’ strength is commonly known to be divided into five levels based on the purity of their core. One-star refers to the black core. This is the moon elves’ level by birth. They can roughly manipulate their given elemental powers. At this stage, they don’t have the ability to conjure their elements unlike the levels above them. Two-star is for the reddish-black core. Three-star is for red-core. Four-star has a pale red core. Finally, the strongest and also the purest state of the core, the five-star." Sylis explained to the best of his knowledge. "The quality of the core indicates the force or strength of the elemental powers."

"For example, the destructive power of a three-star fire warrior is much stronger than the two-star warrior of the same element.

"However, there is also an important factor to determine the strength of the moon elves. That is the plate. It is inborn and most consider it as the moon goddess’ gift. Like a talent. The plate indicates the amount of elemental power that a moon elf can use. I am uncertain about the details since only the temple can test the moon elves’ plate. I am already wandering around before I even get a chance to test mine." Sylis smile concealed a tiny trace of sadness.

Manulus, who is standing in an opposite tree with his twin brother Kalux, added. "All 20-year-old moon elves will go for a pilgrimage to the Moon Goddess’ Temple to have the quality of their innate nature’s energy and toughness of their plates assessed. It will then be classified into ranks; Mortal, Earthly Spirit, Heavenly Spirit, Elemental King, Power Emperor and finally, the Lord. Then it is divided into three levels, the foundation, mid-level and peak. This test is important as it measures the stamina of the moon elves. Giving them the idea of their limits. The temple is also using this method to scout potential sentinels."

"Can you strengthen your plate?"

Manulus nodded.

"While it is something that we are born with, we can tamper and cultivate it to some extent." Although, cultivation techniques are exclusive to clans... Manulus whispered the latter statement.

"Argh! I feel nauseous just hearing that information. Do you have to measure your strength in such a complicated way?" The moon elves who heard this are not sure if they should laugh or cry.

"Well, we are beings of flesh and spirit, to begin with. If we don’t have such physique then we might as well be a simple elf." Manulus gave a helpless expression.

"Besides we don’t need to contract with elemental spirits, unlike the elves. We can manipulate elements like it’s part of our body."

"Those sentinels should at most have Heavenly Spirit physique based on their control and the fact that they can instantly conjure stones as they please." Kalux, who was originally silent, added.

"Then what about you, Kalux? What is your plate’s rank?" The stubborn orc inquired.

However, only silence answered him.

This time, the thick-skinned orc felt a chill on his spine.

Manulus cleared his throat, "Anyway, we should get ourselves familiar with this new terrain just like the moon elf lord’s orders."

"Remember that once you heard the horn. Then that means that the root crawlers will pour out of the entrance."

"Yes!"

"Understood!"

The thin moon elf with brown piercing eyes observed the maze.

It wasn’t complicated like the tunnel but with the tunnel’s entrance in its center, the moon elf lord’s purpose is kind of obvious.

"The moon elf lord plans to trap the root crawlers in this structure, huh?" Manulus murmured, contemplating.

"Speaking of, where is Ilian at this time?" Sylis asked then he realized that some of them are not there.

"The lord asked for him since he is the only wind-power moon elf available," Manulus answered.

They just went back to the ground when they saw Xagrien waiting for him.

"Manulus, the moon elf lord is asking for you." Xagrien approached with a perceptible frown. "And don’t forget to bring a sketch of the tunnels with you. You will go with the moon elf lord to do something."

"Ah, I-I’m sorry?" Manulus is not sure if it is his fault for this guy’s bad mood.

~~

"I-Is this some kind of a mistake, moon elf lord? Maybe Xagrien should be the one to accompany you?" Ilian couldn’t stop himself from stuttering. He saw Xagrien’s face before he left and he knew that he might have done something wrong!

His whole body is stiff and his sweat is dripping non-stop like a waterfall. Panic is evident in his tantalizing silver eyes.

Why can’t he, when in addition to the deadly stares that he got from his best friend, the moon elf lord is currently clinging to his arm?! Plus there is a pompous little chick standing on the moon elf lord’s shoulder.

’What’s with this judgy face? It makes him feel bad about himself!’

"Shut up, you swine," Ilian heard the innocent-looking bearer whisper to him full of malice.

His eyes widened in surprise. This fragile beauty turned out to be-!

"There’s no way that the moon elf lord will make a mistake!" Olyn then said in a normal tone.

’Hey, I heard that, Olyn. I didn’t expect you to have a sharp mouth.’ Luis is not sure if he should laugh or cry.

This change has nothing to do with him, right?

"There is no mistake, Ilian. I will send you to kill hundreds or even thousands of root crawlers in an instant. And I assure you that you will succeed without dying."Luis looked at the floating ball of animal skins and cloths where the leaves and fruits of Golden Belladonna are kept.

He sent Xagrien away to take charge in the attack since lightning power is the unparalleled when used in offense.

Besides, Xagrien’s performance is also considered as demonstration for both Legland and Nicol.

He looked at the things that thet brought with them.

Cut fresh woods and dry fire woods are hovering in the air thanks to his powers. The product of clearing the space around the entrance.

There is also dried Tinder grass which the sentinels are currently holding. These are made through the efforts of his new subordinates.

They said that it was a technique that uses the well controlled power of both water and fire moon elves to artificially dry woods and grasses. What I good find indeed.

Luis smiled. Really, it is a good decision to have these new comers join him.

Everything is complete. All that is left is the stage.

"I-It’s not that I am doubting you, moon elf lord. But, I am just a one-star warrior and I am weak in using my powers!"

Luis stared at Ilian for a while. Then he blinked twice.

"Then maybe you will sustain one or two fatal wounds in that case. But don’t worry, you won’t die that easily."

The three overworked earth sentinels, a fire sentinel who’s holding a sack of Tinder Grass with a stoic face and Manulus who’s studying the tunnel’s diagram– all of them have a crack on their expression.

’That is not how you encourage someone, my lord!’

"That is a refreshing way of motivating others, my lord!" Olyn is quick with his compliments.

They are traveling above ground. They are locating a certain part of the tunnel as per the moon elf lord’s description.

"It should be in the middle part of the tunnel, where there are intersecting tunnel paths." Luis vaguely explained. "That is the place where a lot of root crawlers are cramped and have difficulty in moving."

It is a section where he found those root crawlers with poop-colored stones in the previous tunnel. Luis plans to break through that horde of root crawlers.

They traveled under the guidance of Manulus until they stopped at a certain place in the forest.

"This should be the place that you are referring to, Moon Elf Lord." Manulus pointed at the ground.
