Chapter 38: Decisions and The Rogues from the North-East(2)
The decision that Luis is waiting for came before daybreak.
He had an interrupted sleep, stayed up late due to last night’s ordeal and then he probably slept past four in the morning because his mind cannot rest thinking of Xagrien’s group decision.
Probably more than one and a half hours passed since he finally stole some sleep and then someone really had to interrupt his rest . Once again.
Xagrien knocked on his own house with some of his comrades.
Sylis, Kalux, Manulus, Sibal and Ilian are fidgety as they stood outside, waiting for the door to open.
One knocks. No one came out.
Two knocks. Still no one.
Three knocks. "Maybe the moon elf lord is still sleeping? Let’s not disturb his rest for now?" Manulus said carefully. He had seen earlier the power of the moon elf lord and he is an idiot if he is willing to stand on the bad side of such an entity. Although they are still skeptical of the moon elf lord’s words, they don’t want the negotiation to fail because of something trivial.
The others also expressed their agreement. They are willing to adjust in order not to be inconvenience to the moon elf lord.
Ilian shivered just thinking of the possible consequences that they will face if they offend such great entity. He looks at his best friend, Xagrien. "We can still wait. There is no need to barge in... your own house."
Ilian thinks that there is something wrong with the set up but he chose not to say anything.
"No, he must be waiting for our decision since he wants to move as early as possible." Xagrien flatly declined. He was about to knock once again when his own door finally opened.
"F*ck. I really want to f*ck you up. Seriously." A throaty sound came out from the moon elf lord’s lips. Luis cannot help but curse when he felt his head throbbing from lack of sleep. He bet his well-rounded ass that his eyes must be red due to angry veins.
If he were to choose between long yet periodically interrupted sleep or no sleep for 24 hours straight, then he wouldn’t even bat an eyelid and he would choose the latter.
Interrupting his sleep is a capital crime for him. Which punishment should be rounds and rounds of sex!
"What is the matter?" He asked while swallowing a yawn. He totally forgot what he was stressing about before he slept.
Contrary to the majestic stereotype of the moon elf lord or the frightening feeling that the moon elf lord gave off earlier, this version of the lord is more grounded and approachable.
That someone who made them feel weak just hours ago is now sporting a messy bed hair and a conspicuous cow lick.
The moon elf lord that they see now is wearing an oversized animal skin top that doesn’t have sleeves so the fair and slender arms and deep armpit is in full show at them as the bearer is scratching his short black hair.
Manulus strangely thinks that this look of the moon elf lord is homey and comforting to look at.
Xagrien and his friends are in a daze for a while. Then Xagrien brashly held Luis’ both arms and he impertinently raised the moon elf lord like a piece of log.
"Yaaaaahhh! What the hell are you doing?! You jerk!" Luis was caught by surprise so all he can do is yell as he and the handsome jerk entered the house.
Sylis, Kalux, Manulus, Sibal and Ilian almost passed out seeing this unfold. They felt their backs turned cold and goosebumps appeared on their nape.
’Do you want to die?!’
They know that Xagrien is extraordinarily strong since he is a four-star warrior at a tender age but that is a moon elf lord!
They are torn between admiring Xagrien’s courage or fearing the moon elf lord will kill them for pulling that stunt.
They heard a few scuffles and thumping sounds inside, and then a silence followed.
Their hearts almost fell but fortunately, Xagrien’s voice called them and asked them to enter the earthhouse.
Upon entering the earthhouse, they saw the moon elf lord’s upper body is now covered in a blanket. He is now sitting on the bed with a tidier look.
On the other hand, Xagrien, their dear friend that possibly the cause of their demise in the future is standing just beside the moon elf lord as if nothing happened.
’Is this the leeway given for sharing a bed with the moon elf lord?’ The audience who was unknowingly fed with dog food wondered.
Luis will be lying if he says that he is not pissed with Xagrien. This anti-romantic jerk interrupted his sleep and not only that, he was roughly taken away like a damn doll when his brain was not yet finished booting up!
The dark sky is now showing signs of the sun rising and he feels like his vision is turning red. It won’t be a surprise if he jumps at this jerk and beats him up. Or rather, he can ’eat’ him up.
He will make sure Xagrien will wreathe until only his eye’s whites are visible. Hihihi.
He stared at Xagrien intently, eyes full of passionate hate. He will make this man regret today’s grievances.
Luis’ revenge will be left for the future. For now, he needs to settle some important things.
His eyes landed on the muted group in front of him. Right, he finally remembered what he needed to do. Luis subconsciously looked at the floating system interface and his gaze automatically got fixated on the running timer.

It won’t be long and a day will pass. He needs to move and prepare regardless of their decision.
The moon elf lord cleared his throat and resumed his business-like attitude.
Luis’ expression is like a sudden breakthrough of sunlight after a stormy day and it caught others off guard.
"So? What now?" Luis amicably asked.
Sylis, Kalux, Manulus, Sibal and Ilian are silent for a while. They are looking at Xagrien and the moon elf lord as if they are watching a ping pong match. Their heads are full of unspeakable intrigues that they will never dare to divulge.
It was Sylis, the eldest among the present who decided to step up to answer. "Moon elf lord, before we tell our decision, can we confirm that the conditions that Xagrien provided are true?" The moon elf asked in a very careful tone.
Luis raised an eyebrow and inadvertently looked at the silver-haired moon elf beside him. "If what Xagrien told you is that I will acknowledge you as a clan, give you a territory, and in exchange, you will have to work for me, then all of those are true."
"What kind of work is it?" Manulus asked full of curiosity.
"That depends on the individual’s skill set and knowledge. For example, someone knows something about crop raising and animal husbandry. Then I will employ him to assist me in developing that. There are a lot of aspects that the moon elf race is lacking. I can only do so much so I need someone who can help me improve those lacking areas." Luis explained to his future architect. He also didn’t forget to give a fleeting glance at Kalux and Sibal.
"I will need you to join my fight against those root crawlers. You will accompany me to save the moon elves not just living around the Shane Greenwoods but also the entire Amber Forest." Luis didn’t forget to stress each word.
They must have thought that it is ironic, they will risk their lives for the sake of those who oppressed them. He added when he saw the fluctuation in their expressions.
"I won’t demand your loyalty. What I want from all of you is commitment and the promise that you will do your best to get the job done. Besides, don’t you think that this is a good chance to settle the differences between you and the clans?"
Sylas clenched his fist after hearing the last sentence of the moon elf lord.
Luis didn’t bother to push further than that. Looking at the faces of these moon elves and orcs, it is evident that they still have their doubts about him.
’What a stark difference compared to the Hyon Clan and the moon elves in the temple,’ he sighed deep inside. He observed it the moment he introduced himself. These moon elves wouldn’t let themselves kneel even though their legs are giving away.
Hylolas or the other priests of the temple would be over the moon if he promised them even the smallest things.
On the other hand, this group of tough nuts who have trust issues wouldn’t budge even though he literally offered his soul for their safety.
’Wait, based on their expressions and words didn’t Xagrien inform them of the Soul-binding Oath?’
He looked at Xagrien pointedly but the guy resumed faking his ignorance.
Luis thought deeply about this so he didn’t bother to expose the oath. He has the opportunity to talk about this with Xagrien.
"If that is the case, then we will accept your offer, moon elf lord."
"Then would you stay or come with me?"
"We will be with you, moon elf lord."
"Then I will promise that I will protect each and every one of you to the best of my ability."
A fire has silently ignited by those simple words.
They are about to kneel as a sign of obeisance.
However, Luis is quick to stop them from doing so. "Don’t! You first need to know that my people are not allowed to kneel no matter what the case or situation. You must maintain your pride as my subordinates."
At this moment, the warm beam of light penetrates through the interior of the earthhouse, illuminating everyone with brilliance.
"Now that the sun has risen. Isn’t it about time to start preparing? We’ve got a lot of abominable critters to kill."
Luis issued a string of commands and with a nod from Xagrien, Sylis, Kalux, Manulus, Sibal and Ilian split up to start their preparation.
