Chapter 240: I Don’t Have Time For This Bullshit! (7)
With the immense wave of nature’s energy, it is only expected that everyone was shaken to the core.
Luis, himself, was included.
His angry expression showed a visible crack, and his firm, glaring dark eyes wavered briefly.
’Shit. Did I go overboard?’ He thought. A sense of dull pain squeezed his chest, seeing the terrible state of his other subordinates. Legland and Nicol could barely kneel while Olyn, his sweet and innocent attendant, was sitting miserably on the ground.
The hand of the Moon Elf Lord trembled.
"I- "Luis tried to come up with something to say but abruptly stopped when something flashed before him, obstructing his view of the mess he made.
"This much is enough!" Xagrien’s deep masculine voice rang like a gong. Luis flinched at the cold vibration that that voice carried, but surprisingly, it made his hands stop trembling.
"Whatever kind of relationship I have with the Moon Elf Lord has nothing to do with any of you. He’s not a kid who could easily sway worldly affairs! Did you all forget the person who led you to victory when facing an unfamiliar enemy from beyond our land?" Xagrien roared. His handsome face distorted due to the extreme passion he put in his words.
Luis, on the other hand, was shocked hearing the first part of his mate’s words. It even momentarily distracts him from the anger and sadness he is feeling.
What does he mean that worldly affairs couldn’t easily sway him? He’s like the sluttiest slut in here! If only Xagrien could read his mind every time he sees him topless, Xagrien would surely eat those words!
Luis had the urge to interrupt, but Xagrien continued with such strength.
"It was the Moon Elf Lord! He was the smartest moon elf who devised a plan for how to handle the hundreds of thousands of Root Sucker effectively and implemented it without any casualties! He saved us from getting annihilated when our enemy took advantage of our ignorance about magic!"
"Do any of you think that someone that bright and wise is easy to fool, huh?"
"Absolutely not," Legland answered as he tried his best to stand up.
"I never once doubted the decision of our Moon Elf Lord ever since the Tree of Life delivered him to us. The moment his eyes opened for the first time, I could see profundity in it," Nicol also chimed in. "If he chose Xagrien as his mate, then it only means that our Moon Elf Lord saw something special in him, and as his loyal supporter, I shall never question that."
"I agree with Head Priest Nicol," Olyn said with a small voice.
From then on, the voices of the patriarch, who has a favorable opinion of Xagrien, echoed their support. However, Luis could barely catch them all since his heart ached for those words of support from his closest subordinates.
Yes, he didn’t need anyone’s opinion about his personal affairs, but knowing that someone had his back at times like this was unbelievably comforting.
Luis didn’t know, but a few tears welled at the side of his eyes. The darkness that covers his irises subsided, revealing his tantalizing dark green eyes.
’Seriously though, don’t make it out like I’m some kind of a genius,’ He thought to spite himself.
"Whatever," Xagrien dismissed the noise with a wave of his hand. "Just like I said, our relationship has nothing to do with you. Therefore, your approval weighs nothing."
The man’s purple eyes showed blazing determination that no one could put out.
"However, I don’t want my children to hear that their father is a loser. I will face your doubts head-on! Watch me deal with the trespassers this time! This man from the wilderness will kill the Blood Dragon."
The jaws of the Moon Elf Lord’s subordinates dropped.
"I know you all think it’s crazy, right? That’s why I told you to watch. The enemy is right on our doorstep. We don’t have the luxury to refute each other with words," Xagrien clenched his jaws. "I don’t have time for that bullshit."
He then turned his back on the patriarchs, and this time, he faced his beloved mate.
"Are you alright?" His strong front instantly melted. He lovingly wiped those stray tears that hung in the side of Luis’ eyes. "Be strong. You should know that I always got your back."
"Xagrien..." Luis’s lips trembled, but he tried to keep himself together. He bit his lips and nodded hard. "I know what to do now. I’m sorry if I caused you trouble."
"If it’s you, then it’s no trouble. I consider it a challenge, and you’re my prize."
Luis’s face blushed deep red. What else could be said to answer that? He would instead bite his tongue for the time being, and later, he would treat his mate for some great BJ.
The Moon Elf Lord adjusted his expression and put on a stern expression. He straightened his back and stepped forward.
"Overstepping boundaries, spreading malicious rumors, and disturbing the order of the meeting are all serious offenses against me, the Moon Elf Lord. I will not overlook this matter, and I will enforce a thorough investigation. Head Priest Nicol," Luis calmly yet obstinately stated his decision. "It pains me to use our priests this way, but since they are the authorities who are close to the people, I want you to command them to get to the bottom of this matter. I don’t want to be an unreasonable tyrant. That’s why I want to see solid evidence before I punish the guilty."
Nicol respectfully bowed, "Understood, My Lord."
What happened here was the fault of those stupid patriarchs who dared to drag the Moon Elf Lord to their scheme. Nicol shall never let them go unscathed.
"Legland," He then turned to his Head Sentinel. "Prepare all the necessary things needed for the surveying. We will proceed as planned."
"As you will it, My Lord," Legland saluted Luis with firm eyes.
Their Moon Elf Lord is in a sensitive condition now that he bears offspring. He must do his best to lessen the worries of their leader.
"And Xagrien," Luis called his mate’s name without looking back. He sounded tough and commanding, but everyone with eyes could swear that they saw how the light in those eyes changed.
"You’re not going anywhere unless you have the weapon of your choice, so you must make haste if you want to join our sentinels."
A flash of realization struck Xagrien. It seems like he must push Master Feren a little harder this time.
"Understood, my Moon Elf Lord," Just like anyone with a bow.
Knowing that he said everything that needed to be said, Luis straightened his clothes to prepare for leaving. He looked at the sorry state of his other subordinates and whispered a small apology.
’It was unlike me to suddenly flare up, so please blame it on my pregnancy blues.’
But on second thought, this little incident could be beneficial for them. He could make this as an excuse to push these patriarchs to work extra harder than usual. Their enemies are presumed to be dragons. There’s no option to half-ass their way when dealing with this matter.
If he needs to subject them to spartan ways, then he is willing to be their commander.
Luis might be soft like marshmallows most times, but he also knows how to be harsh when the situation calls for it. He didn’t survive the apocalyptic earth for nothing.
"Once these two patriarchs regained their consciousness, kindly inform them that they should never dare to run away from my punishment. Not even death could save them from my fury if they try to test my patience," Luis pulled up his villainous face for the first time.
Everyone, even the disguised Blizzard Dragon, felt their skin crawling. So frightening!
The rampaging Moon Elf Lord is already fearsome, but hearing him spit these threats like nothing is even more horrifying!
"Remember, I have the Inheritance from the past moon elf lord. I could turn them into earthworms if I want to." Of course, this one is bullshit. No hidden arts of the previous moon elf lord are powerful enough to transform a living thing into something else.
Even the sigil on his forehead isn’t capable to that extent.
Luis just said it for fun.
"U-Understood, My Lord!" The frantic reply of the Moon Elf Lord’s subordinates almost pierced the sky. One could see that nearly all of them are as white as paper. In their heart, they are really afraid of the Moon Elf Lord now.
Luis finally turned his back, "We started this meeting sitting, so there’s no need for you to stand up for me. This meeting is adjourned. Rest yourselves well because next time, I’ll be using you like a mule. No one is allowed to have weak knees by that time."
With a graceful turn, the Moon Elf Lord walked out of the clearing, followed by his mate. The patriarchs, who are from outside the Amber Forest, almost pulled out their eyes when they saw a humongous snake slithering its way towards them.
"What is that?!"
"That’s Baku," Olyn answered the trembling patriarch’s question, his tone carrying an unmistakable pride.
"The forest guardian that the Moon Elf Lord created with his powers. We are all lucky it came late from the Inner Circle of the Shane Greenwoods, or else, we would all be dead when you angered our lord."
