Chapter 238: I Don’t Have Time For This Bullshit (5)
For anyone under his wing, Luis always sees to it that he always has a light and comfortable atmosphere around him.
It’s not because he is naturally a kind person nor aspiring to be the patron saint of all gays who believe in true love.
He maintains a carefree and approachable aura in front of his subordinates simply because he hates all kinds of drama. He hates getting involved in quarrels and anything that’s emotionally draining.
Luis abhors senseless arguments that would only bring him a foul taste in his mouth.
That was why most of the time, he always handled high-pressure situations with a cool head. He never let negativity get to his head and trigger his anger.
Pretty, smart, charming, and— to top it all off— unbothered. That is Luis Lee in the flesh.
Isn’t he perfect?
However, the situation at hand tests his entire character build. He wanted to lean back and flash his usual breath-taking smile that could make even the male god Xagrien crazy. But try as he might, something inside him keeps bubbling, triggering all his nerves to explode.
His pride could take the blow of being thought of as gullible and weak for Xagrien because hell, that is somewhat accurate.
He swears with his firm and bouncy meat buns: If Xagrien asks for it, he wouldn’t hesitate to twerk, grind and be a slut just for that tanned male god!
But things changed when it was Xagrien’s face was smeared by stupid and offensive rumors. He couldn’t just treat it as joke.
Luis is livid.
’What kind of sane person smiles in front of a crowd when someone is openly insulting their lover?’ Luis’ thought echoed in his heart, fueling his anger that’s just been awakened.
"Hey, do I need to repeat myself?" Luis’s unfeeling voice just rolled out his lips without thinking.
In the meeting, subordinates instinctively shivered as a chill ran down their spines.
The subordinates closer to him, Nicol, Legland and Olyn were not exempted from the nervousness that suddenly dawned upon them.
It was quite evident to them that their lord was extremely pissed off. It was to the point that even the big and valorous Legland discreetly balled his fist to stop it from trembling.
Nicol and Olyn who usually distract their Moon Elf Lord with their talking seemed to have their mouths glued shut. They couldn’t find the courage to utter soothing words to pacify the Moon Elf Lord.
How could they do it when suddenly, their amicable lord turned into someone unfamiliar to them?
Olyn and Nicol could only lower their heads and show their subservience.
If the Moon Elf Lord’s closest aides are already in this state, what about the other moon elves?
All present patriarchs from the Portgrass Plains, Amber Forest, and Cape of Wonders felt like they were submerged in a pool full of ice.
They sat on their seats stiffly, palms sweating profusely. They held their breath as if they were afraid that the sounds of their breathing would further stir their Moon Elf Lord’s scorching pot.
Majority of the leaders are internally cursing Patriarch Wu, the current leader of the Ujin Clan, for confronting the Moon Elf Lord with unconfirmed rumors.
What on earth did that old bone think that he got the balls to speak to the Moon Elf Lord about his mate and pregnancy? True or false, he shouldn’t have talked to their entire race’s sole ruler as if they were friends who had gone through thick and thin.
They are not close!
A common moon elf is not qualified to comment on the personal affairs of the Moon Elf Lord!
Patriarch Woo realized it late.
He trembled like a leaf under the undisguised scrutiny of his fellow patriarchs, temple priests, and sentinels.
The so-called friend who provided his information only met his pleading eyes with a side glance.
’Ali! This traitor!’ Patriarch Woo tremblingly clenched his fist at the oblivious sight of the younger patriarch of the Isan Clan. ’You should be helping me out here!’
"My Lord, I-I am..." Patriarch Woo is the prime definition of a headless fly at this point. Anyone would pity the teary-eyed elderly whose skin is carved with lines of time and hardship, but not the Moon Elf Lord. The pressure coming from Luis didn’t cease or diminish.
"Do you need me to remind you that you are speaking with your Moon Elf Lord? Speak coherently."
Almost everyone in the meeting jumped in their seats when they heard the Moon Elf Lord’s chilling voice again.
"M-M Lord!" Horribly shaken, Patriarch Wu’s mind blacked out. He jumped off his seat without thinking twice and prostrated in front of the Moon Elf Lord.
It was a well-established fact among Luis’ subordinates that he wasn’t fond of excessive subservience and if Patriarch Wu were not terrified deep in his bones, he would be smart enough to know not to do it as it would potentially anger their Lord more.
"Patriarch Wu!" Hylolas from the Hyon Clan exclaimed.
This is the only time he saw someone eagerly digging their own grave!
Although their Moon Elf Lord is unbelievably kind, if someone pushes every button there is, it is not surprising if he has gone black!
"P-please forgive this lowly old man’s mistake, M-my Lord!" Patriarch Wu cried, his entire body shaking as if he was wringing out all courage he had inside to confess and quell the anger of the Moon Elf Lord. "I was old and... T-the rumors confused me, my Lord, that I failed to see the truth."
"Tell me what rumors we are talking about."
"Ehem," Out of nowhere, Ali cleared his throat, attracting everyone’s attention.
The effects of the Moon Elf Lord’s oppressive presence are clear in his pale face.
However, compared to others, it could be said that he handles himself well like Nicol and Legland. He knows how to hide his fear— as expected of a ruthless fighter.
Luis’ eyes turned into slits. ’This man again...’
"P-pardon my intrusion, My Lord, but I believe Patriarch Wu is not in good condition to interrogate. P-please let me conduct a thorough investigation into this matter. I swear u-upon my name that the Isan Clan will put every effort to clean up everyone who dared to sully your lordship— urk!"
The young patriarch couldn’t continue his words as a heavy feeling came over him. His entire face flushed and the white of his eyes turned red due to the sudden weight placed over him.
"Ehem! Ehem! Ehem!" ’What is this heavy feeling? Why can’t I feel everything?’ Ali asked himself through the choking sounds he was making.
If he faked his cough earlier, then now he has a real reason to bark his lungs out of his chest.
The air around the meeting place became dense. It was as if the air became solid, tangible to their sweat-drenched skin.
"Crazy..." Xerxes’ eyes flashed with discomfort. He is only a spirit now but he could feel this damning energy blanketing them.
Blizzard Dragon exclaimed, ’This is the uncontrolled raw energy of the Moon Elf Lord!’The one coming from the Moon Elf Lord may be nature’s energy, but the manner and the feeling it brings are comparable to the Dragon Lord’s Mana Bursts.
’This is bad! When the Dragon Lord losts his temper the sky will part, and a slew of thunderstorms will appear! If this goes on, I’m afraid something similar will happen!’ Xerxes uncomfortably shifted in his seat.
He knew he must do something but there was a part of him that wanted to see what the Moon Elf Lord could do.
In his peripheral vision, Xerxes saw Xagrien.
The young half-dragon flushes while covering his mouth. He doesn’t know what expression is hidden behind that hand but Xerxes senses something weird from Xagrien.
’Isn’t he too laid back for someone whose mate is angry? The Moon Elf Lord is pregnant too!’
"I could be patient with you when it comes to teaching you. I could be understanding to your mistakes. However, I will not take it kindly if you would treat me like a fool. I asked that question because I wanted an immediate answer not a compromise. I don’t have the patience to wait for an answer on the tip of your tongue. Do any of you believe me when I say that I’m willing to cut both of your tongues just to squeeze an answer from you?"
"Y-yes, My Lord," Patriarch Wu was no longer willing to try his luck. He answered as swift as a swallow! "Y-ye-uh, yes!" Ali barely answered.
The pressure on him was enough to make him pass out.
"I’m glad that you two have a clear understanding of your situation now. You should have used that cunning head of yours earlier," Luis’ voice sent quakes down everyone’s spines— or so they believed.
Each person present thought that it was just them trembling in front of the wrath of the Moon Elf Lord.
However, this changed immediately when they heard a loud ominous coming from all directions, followed by a strong gust of wind.
Then the table and chair started rocking up and down as if the earth was being pushed from the underground.
At first, one would think it was a storm or an earthquake. They were wrong. Their imagination isn’t ripe yet to accurately guess what is happening outside.
This is the first time they will learn to never trigger their Moon Elf Lord’s anger.
