Chapter 235: I Don’t Have Time For This Bullshit! (2)

Later that day, Woodrill City ushered an undeniable bustle. Various contracted beasts stopped by the grassless side of the lake shore. It used to be where Feren, Legland, Nicol, and their beloved Moon Elf Lord were destroyed during their drunken sparring.

Scorched earth and full of rumble that is its original state, they fixed it thanks to the industrious moon elves. They flattened the ground, then leveled it with stone slabs during the lonely day the Moon Elf Lord visited the Redhill Territory. It would pass as a temporary place for meetings and such.

In the center of the clearing, a massive rectangular table is placed. This table is so shockingly long that anyone who sees it would think of a long stretch of a river, and around it are numerous finely crafted wooden chairs. Each is meant for the participant for this meeting for the Moon Elf Lord.

Fourteen seats for the members of Woodrill City’s Tribunal, twenty for the water clans from Cape of Wonders, thirty-five for the patriarchs from the Portgrass Plains, and other extra seats meant for special individuals that the Moon Elf Lord invited them himself; that is how overwhelming the numbers of chairs present.

Because of this, the incoming patriarchs couldn’t help but feel nervous. Even the members of the Tribunal are silently calming their racing hearts upon arriving at the venue. However, they could hardly do it since the temple priests and sentinels were standing around the venue, giving a more somber air even though they never intended it.

They are here to assist these esteemed leaders for tonight’s meeting.

"With all due respect, priest. Ahhm, can I sit beside the patriarch of the Korpin Clan?" Asked one of the newly arrived patriarchs. He wanted to be seated with a fellow folk from Portgrass Plain whom he could share his nervousness with.

Koniel smiled, "Pardon me, Patriarch Woo, but the seating arrangement was ordered by the Moon Elf Lord himself. Please take this opportunity to be acquainted with other leaders. Our Lord highly encourages that."

Thus, the patriarch could only nod his head and go to the seat allocated for him. But to his surprise, what welcomed him was another acquaintance from the Amber Forest— or now, he should refer to as a local of Woodrill City.

"Ali!" He greeted, relief evident on his face upon seeing that the moon elf in his right seat was an acquaintance. "I see that you are living well in this city that our Moon Elf Lord is building. How lucky of you."

Patriarch Woo flatteringly complimented the dashing red-headed patriarch of the Isan Clan. They are acquainted well enough for him to know that this young moon elf is a powerful warrior. Who would hate to be friends with a mighty warrior? No one.

That’s why he doesn’t mind saying a few pleasantries just to keep an amicable relationship with Ali.

Ali’s sharp silver eyes squinted as he smiled cryptically. "Lucky for us indeed. Following the Moon Elf Lord was the best decision we made."

Patriarch Woo felt a little envious. Everyone knows that. From the training technique to soul-bound weapons that they had only heard about, everyone from outside the Amber Forest— well, except from the Redhill territory is discreetly jealous of the grave that the Moon Elf Lord has given him. That’s why most patriarch like him wants to build a good connection with the Moon Elf Lord.

"Speaking of the Moon Elf Lord, you are a talented young man. Are you perhaps close to the Moon Elf Lord in some way? I would love to have an opportunity to be acquainted with the Moon Elf Lord. You and I were friends anyway."

Something flashed in Ali’s naturally stern eyes, like a thunderstorm passed by it, only that it is fleeting and impossible to capture in a single glance. Patriarch Woo thought that he might be seeing things, so he just shrugged it off and waited with anticipation.

"As much as I wanted to say that I’m close to the Moon Elf Lord, I’m not that personal enough to the Moon Elf Lord to go ahead and introduce to a man. He’s got a mate tailing him like a starved wild dog, you see."

Patriarch Woo gasped, "I— I already have a mate, you know that, right? And I’m not that young to be in a more intimate relationship with the Moon Elf Lord except for being subordinates."

Ali shrugged his shoulders and looked around, seemingly checking if no one was eavesdropping on their conversation. His eyes accidentally landed on the only orc among the moon elves. It was Sibal, the representative of the Lune Clan.

He arrogantly smirked at the big but timid man.

"That rogue was strict on keeping our Moon Elf Lord to himself."

Patriarch Woo leaned towards Ali and whispered, "Then the rumors about the truth behind our Moon Elf Lord’s pregnancy is..."

Ali only cast a side glance, and slowly, the side of his lip raised to a sharp arch, confirming whatever was not mentioned by the older patriarch.

"Oh, Moon Goddess, that isn’t right! Our Moon Elf Lord is too kind! We shouldn’t let him be led astray by that wild man! We must—"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Patriarch Woo’s concerned rant was drowned by three consecutive clangoring of gongs.

"Everyone rise! The Moon Elf Lord has arrived!" Priest Koniel said as loud as he can.

This announcement didn’t fail to make everyone tremble with nervousness, and everyone’s eyes were glued to the bearer who was walking confidently in front of the head priest, head sentinel, and a handsome young moon elf with gorgeous olive brown skin.

His long, black hair, as dark and shiny as the star-strewn night sky, moved lusciously in his every stride. Everyone couldn’t help but hold their breath as their Moon Elf Lord shone his brilliance in his snow-white coat and flawlessly fair skin under the faint moonlight.

"Did they forget the unsightly memory I gave them earlier?" Luis carefully studied his subordinates. He dressed specially for this occasion so that his desperate-to-crap face would be completely wiped off from their memory.

And he is successful, fortunately.

Luis was satisfied with this, so he started his greeting with a sunny smile, "Thank you so much for coming to my summon on such short notice, especially for those who came from afar. To my dear subjects from the beautiful land of Portgrass Plains and the shore of Cape of Wonders, I hope that you guys have a pleasant stay in this city that we are currently building from the ground up."

"Thank you so much for your grace and kindness, My Lord."

The crowd loudly said in complete unison.

Luis was momentarily caught off guard by this sudden burst of enthusiasm. He wasn’t ready to be smothered by such warm passion by these people.

Luis’ smile became even more prominent, and he joked, "Whose subordinates are you? I love that attitude!"

Everyone present felt warmth seeing their beautiful Moon Elf Lord laugh, so they, too, started to laugh— although they were more reserved. But one thing is sure: their nerves have begun to ease.

"That was a good start," Luis thought. He wanted to continue this kind of atmosphere, but unfortunately, they have a very serious topic at hand.

Luis’ smile diminished slightly but still retained a light aura around him.

"I know you guys are wondering the reason I summoned you and the odd strings of orders that I asked you to do. And I don’t have any intention to keep it from you. As you guys know, we have a brother that came to our doors, heavily injured and almost at the death’s bed."

The patriarchs all nodded their heads, but a majority of them wore severe expressions. Luis internally took note of it and was reminded about the things he heard, particularly the unsettled differences between moon elves who are part of legitimate clans and those wanderers.

That was a kind way of putting it, considering that the moon elves from clans are severely cold towards them to the point that the death of the other doesn’t faze them.

He clearly gets that feeling as he himself survived during a turbulent time. But they are not in the right situation to be divided.

So, he emphasized his next words, "It wasn’t just caused by a simple fight among us, the moon elves, or other nearby races like the dwarves, elves, fairies, and orcs. It was done by one of our oldest and most powerful rivals, the dragons."

"Dragons?!" Whether they were from Woodrill City, who experienced facing outside threats that they didn’t see coming, or the outsiders who had yet to face these threats, they all exclaimed in shock.

The news was too big for them that they found themselves murmuring their disbelief.

"What? Dragons? Shouldn’t they be a thing of the past now? I mean— they are too far away from us. They shouldn’t be here."

"Agreed. As for what I heard from the old legends, we drove them to the other side of the continent!"

Hylolas, from the Hyon Clan, answered his fellow patriarchs. "It is terribly naive to assume that no enemies will come here in our territory. Remember the root crawlers? We thought they were new beasts in our forest, but as it turns out, they are beings created and planted by a different Lord who intended to harm us."

Most disbelieving patriarchs were silenced, but there are still others who remain skeptical.

The forerunners of the latter were Nihil, Nicol’s father and Patriarch of Ris Clan.

"My lord, I didn’t mean to question your words, but we, the moon elves have never seen a dragon in our life, nor do we have enough knowledge to distinguish the work of a dragon. Who is it that informed you that dragons have arrived in our territory? Are they sure about their findings, or it’s just plain assumption?"

Everyone looked at the old man. They couldn’t believe that he would just throw his skepticism right on their lord’s face.

Some patriarchs are praying inside their heads that their Lord wouldn’t be offended by this. Pregnant bearers are incredibly moody and easy to be angered.

They looked at their Moon Elf Lord’s expression, waiting for the only bearer’s reaction.
