There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 218: Breath of Life (3)
Chapter 218: Breath of Life (3)
While Luis is busy fixing the blessing he was about to put on the weapons, everyone around him is watching the whole ordeal with question marks on their eyes.
"The Moon Elf Lord... Why was he doing those weird finger movements earlier?" Ilian asked Sibal while he acted like he was typing something in the air.
Sibal was as clueless as Ilian and anyone else in the field. So what answer could he give? The one who knows the Moon Elf Lord best, Xagrien, was standing far away from them, so even if they wanted to ask their soon-to-be father friend, they couldn’t because their movement would undoubtedly disrupt the Moon Elf Lord’s concentration. He doesn’t have the heart and guts to do that thing, seeing that someone who has such a majestic status would personally make a gift for them.
"Ilian, brother, let’s not focus on trivial things like that. If you are curious, why not ask our Moon Elf Lord later?"
If Ilian were a furry animal, then all of his fur would be sticking up when he heard the suggestion of his friend. "I can’t! You know I easily get nervous whenever I am in the great presence of our Moon Elf Lord."
Sibal gave him a helpless look. He is aware that aside from Xagrien, Ilian also looks up to the Moon Elf Lord with great fanaticism.
"Fine, suit yourself then," Sibal answered, leaving Ilian be. He looked down at the fluffy little boy who was holding his hand. Nine was just silently admiring the dancing lights that surrounded them. The moonlight, the fireflies, and the Moon Elf Lord’s power captivated the boisterous children that they threw away their naughty side.
The wooden weapons crafted by the Moon Elf Lord are mildly spinning in the air while giving off a faint silver light. It’s like the twinkling stars on the black night sky descended upon them. No wonder that the children are mummed. Even to Sibal, who is already a grown-up, he is fascinated enough to be mute.
Besides, it is already plentiful that the children are silent.
However, this silence was suddenly broken right after Sibal thought of that. Loud, excited exclamations of the children reverberated throughout the field.
"Woah! What is happening? The twinkling beautiful weapons are heading towards us!"
"Yes! Yes! I am here, shiny wooden bow. Come to me!"
Sibal almost had a heart attack when he heard those milky yells of the seven children. He wanted to shush them, but he himself was at a loss when a wooden lance appeared before him. The lance’s body was carved with what appears to be a roaring wolf. It looked alive as it was bathed in silver light. This weapon was undoubtedly durable, just looking at the slick and shiny surface of the wood.
"Wow! Big brother, that big weapon came to you!" Nine excitedly clapped his hands.
"What is this? Is this mine?" Sibal uttered, his eyes trembling and his heart pounding hard. He will wield such a magnificent weapon?!
Back when it was announced that the Logistics Group was the one who would receive their Lord’s prize, they were asked to list the specification of the weapon of their choice. Sibal picked a heavy-weight lance. One that he could use in humanoid and semi-beast form. Now, looking at the lance in front of him, Sibal is full of excitement because it should not be an accident or a coincidence that this lance hovered before him!
The handsome male orc stretched his hand to touch the lance, and the moment his fingertip touched the solid body of the weapon. He felt the soothing and chilly energy coursing in his body.
Instantly, he felt that something took root in his entire being. "What is this feeling?" Sibal asked in his mind. It was an inexplicable connection that he cannot describe in words. It is a part of him, yet it felt so foreign.
However, before he could make that question audible to everyone, the lance unexpectedly moved. It tilted its pointy tip toward him as if threatening to pierce him.
"Big Brother, that weapon looks like it was about to stab you! Move out!" Nine cried in panic. If the little boy is only a few inches taller, he will probably throw himself on the lance’s way. But that is futile, too, for Luis made it so that the weapon would only react to it’s owner.
Sibal was caught off guard when the lance pierced his heart. The first thought that came to him was he would die— just like other members of the Logistics Group. The cool feeling started to spread from his heart to every fiber of his being. Is this what it’s like to die? It was comforting, as if the clouds were hugging him. Shouldn’t it be painful? Shouldn’t he feel numb or weak?
A minute passed, and Sibal noticed that his senses were still active, and in fact, even with his eyes closed, he could still feel the presence of everyone around. It’s as if it was sketched in the back of his mind.
"Woah! Big Brother! The big, big weapon entered your body!" Sibal heard the shrill voice of his little brother. It pierced his ears because of the overflowing excitement contained in that sentence.
That was Sibal cue to open his eyes, and he saw that the silver light that was originally coating the weapon was now radiating in his entire body. It comes with inexplicable power that he only felt from the Moon Elf Lord.
"Why do you all look like you are surprised that you are alive? You are not thinking that I will kill you, aren’t you?" The voice of the Moon Elf Lord sounded throughout the open field. This instantly caught the attention of everyone.
"Why do they have such an expression? Did I do something that greatly shocked them?" Luis asked himself.
Ting!
[That is because of your ridiculous way of distributing the weapons. If other mortals who do not have a shed of trust in you experienced what you did, they would have a heart attack the moment a spear was pointed at them. It was difficult to parry a Heavenly-tier artifact if it came from a point-blank range.]
Heavenly-tier?! This time, it was Luis’ turn to widen his eyes in shock. His intention was only to create a weapon for his subordinates, not an artifact of that high caliber! As far as he knows, artifacts that are made by mortal’s hands could only reach the Gold-tier— just like the Quantum Storage Flask. If it is Heavenly-tier, just like the God of Life’s Oopsie Doll, then that means it was touched and made by a deity.
"How come..." Luis internally trailed off, and the only explanation for such an unbelievable feat struck him like lightning. "Now, I can finally understand why the lords are doing their best to look for Sigil."
Having the ability to create a Heavenly-Tier artifact out of nowhere is overpowering.
Luis emptied the air in his lungs. This is not what he should be worrying about now. Hundreds of his subordinates are waiting eagerly for an explanation.
"The weapons I promised to give you as a reward were now blessed with the Breath of Life. It means that it is a living weapon that resides within your soul. It grows and strengthens the same way as you get stronger. You must feel by now that there is a foreign presence within you. That is the weapon’s psyche. You don’t have to worry about it because the weapon’s spirit would never betray you and your will. In fact, they are there to ensure your safety and save you no matter what if ever something bad happens to you." Luis said the last sentence with an overly serious expression. No one noticed the shift in his gaze except one man.
The moon elves and orcs present are looking at Luis without blinking. Is it such a normal thing to create a spirit and imbue it to an inanimate object? Can the Moon Elf Lord say that casually?
And how should they react to this? Is it appropriate to just say their thanks?
Spirits found in nature are too rare to find, and on top of that, the birth of one spirit will take years until it finally forms a solid and mature consciousness. The most valuable example of this was the Spirit of the Heart of the Forest that lived even during the time of the previous Moon Ef Lord. The only tree spirit in the Amber Forest.
The Moon Elf Lord did something unbelievable once again!
Silence dawned upon the crowd as they were busy soothing their goosebumps.
"My Lord," A loud male voice suddenly disturbed the silence. Some even flinched due to surprise.
"You said that it will save the weapon owner’s life. Can you explain more about it?" Xagrien asked. His tone was business-like, totally different from his usual sweet mouth.
"Oh, he caught on it quickly. That is impressive. As expected of the dick I chose," the Moon Elf Lord hid his mischief by blinking his eyes.
Luis knew that Xagrien was helping him to catch the attention of his awe-struck constituents, so he cooperated with the man. "The Blessing of Breath of Life that I put on your weapons grants you one chance to revive yourself if the worst thing happens."
"Woah! Revival? It means we will not die?!" This kind of exclamation sounded throughout the crowd. Even Legland and Nicol were petrified in their places.
Everyone’s chests were boiling with excitement, but the Moon Elf Lord did not let their thoughts reach the sky, and he immediately doused the fire in their chests with his next words.
" Do not be too happy. You can only revive from death once. One chance only. That is it. And on top of that, once that chance is used, your weapons will be destroyed together with the spirit that comes with it." Luis said with a tyrannical expression.
"You must be careful about spending that one chance."
Because I do not want you to learn how painful it was to realize the worth of that chance when you have already lost it.
