There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 140: Dragon Vein (1)
Chapter 140: Dragon Vein (1)
"You should have told me that they are in the same direction. You know I stressed myself so much just to think what to prioritize," Luis said with a blank expression. His hands that were touching Baku’s wooden scales were emitting white light.
They are on their way to the Inner Circle just like what they initially planned. Baku was speeding past through the gaps and shrubbery of the Middle Circle.
Of course, Luis is pumping up massive amounts of nature’s energy to supply the energy of this cute yet humongous serpentine dragon. Baku is not a typical beast that gets tired. As long as he got a stable supply of nature’s energy, he could move in tip-top shape.
"I did tell you but you weren’t listening. You are so immersed in your musings," Xagrien, who was sitting behind Luis, pointed out.
He did mention that he could trace the lingering mana of those ice lizard-like creatures that are a product of a powerful illusion spell.
However, Luis suddenly jumped onto his lap, making him unable to complete his sentence that the source of that spell is coming from the Inner Circle.
"That is why you should always keep your eyes and ears on me," the brute added.
"Oh, really?" Luis looked at the man suspiciously. What a greedy man.
Xagrien just answered him with a smirk. A smirk that went straight to his core.
Luis cleared his throat, "What are you doing? Acting special? Go and help the others in defending against the mystic beasts that run after us,"
"I’m doing it."
The male brashly shot a bolt of lightning at an oversized bat that’s been pestering them. It didn’t die but just paralyzed so it dropped to the ground. Alive due to their strong bodies.
Luis was speechless for a good ten seconds, "Great then make sure we are going to the right path. I’ll be relying on you," and then he rolled his eyes.
The mystic beasts around this area are harder to kill since the majority of them are beasts with considerable strength and manifested a beast core.
Thankfully, the attacks became significantly lesser because the mystic beasts here are more intelligent compared to the ones at the entrance.
They must be intimidated by the enormous body of Baku.
But to be completely honest, they appeared to be more vicious and powerful. Luis can only imagine the efforts that they would need to do to clear them if they decided to stand in their way.
"My lord! They appeared once again," Luis heard Olyn say.
He knew what this meant, those ice illusions appeared once again. But contrary to their behavior earlier, they treated their group passively.
They just stood on their ground and let them pass. Their posture seems like they are leering at them or rather at someone.
"This is getting eerie," Luis uttered. If Luis were to compare it to anything then they are acting as a guard or even a stalker.
"Are you worried?" Xagrien’s concern for him was practically bare.
Luis tilted his head, pondering. Worried? Not quite. He is restless to be exact.
This quest was classified as a gold tier, meaning, its success has a significant impact on their survivability. Just like the unification of the entire race and the presence of Nero to them, with that fellow, they have someone to rely on for things that concern magic.
And based on his experience so far, all these gold-tier quests were rather difficult ones. So this non-aggressive behavior from this unknown someone and the seemingly simple quest that only entails finding the remnants of the dead whatever is puzzling and disturbing.
"Why would I when I could rely on you?" Luis answered back. Good thing he is facing the other way or else, his blush would give him away.
On the other hand, the moon elf lord’s subordinates busied themselves looking around the dark environment of the Middle Circle. They have reached the part that none of the existing moon elves had reached and everything is a novelty for them.
Ilian rubbed his goose bumps down as he felt the odd feeling that was lingering in the air.
"The nature’s energy is concentrated here!" Rion said with excitement in his eyes.
"Not just that, the mana is so abundant that I could even detect it. Now I am sure that we are on the right track." Rion’s mother’s statement subtly expresses his awe of the moon elf lord.
He is confident that they could even find their way in this dark forest.
"I wonder if it’s already morning?" Rean whispered. The foliage was so thick that light was not possible to pass through
"Probably yes," the moon elf lord answered from the front. At this point, his Cosmic Sense and all his senses are on high alert so he is aware of almost everything that is happening around him.
"My lord! Your extraordinary hearing deeply amazes me!" Rean exclaimed, he was slightly startled by the sudden response from the beautiful bearer but that doesn’t stop him from admiring the capabilities of their moon elf lord.
"As expected of my lord! He is always smart, mighty and super pretty!" Olyn chimed in since he wouldn’t be the number one fan if he let this opportunity pass to compliment his boss.
The bearers blew rainbow farts at Luis, making him giggle with the dark green irises rolled to the back of his head.
"You guys ahihihi." Luis’ ego became full.
Hearing the moon elf lord’s voice, Ali’s ears almost twitched and he couldn’t help but grit his teeth. Why does he have to be seated at the very end?
The journey was fast as if they were in a bullet train. Every creaking of Baku’s body was muffled by the wheezing sound of the wind and as they’ve gone deeper and deeper, the air becomes even more chilly.
Xagrien rubbed Luis’ waist and whispered, "We are near."
Luis’ brows twitched when he felt Xagrien’s warm breath brush against his ears.
Can’t this man word it in a way that will not distract him from understanding its intended meaning?
"My lord! There’s light!" Olyn exclaimed upon seeing the blinding bright end of the woodland. Luis couldn’t see past that.
"I didn’t expect that we would manage to reach the Inner Circle this quickly," Nicol uttered, his stable voice laced with disbelief and amazement. The stories of the previous moon elves who braved through this dangerous woodland were said to take several moon cycles before they reached the Inner Circle.
As they stepped out of the darkness, the warm sunlight immediately touched their skin.
"Where in the world are we?" Legland couldn’t stop himself from blurting out. Ever since the birth of the moon elf lord, he had seen various unbelievable things and this place is probably one of the most memorable for him.
This reaction is not solely just for him. In fact, everyone is stuck in their seats, eyes wide and full of wonder."
"We found the Dragon Vein," Luis declared as he scanned the surroundings.
There was no plant life seen.
Everything around him was covered by the translucent sky-blue stone that shone so bright with its superior purity compared to the one that Xagrien ate.
The deposit of mana stones was so rich that it majestically stood there in numerous pillars.
"This is an extremely high-quality mana stone." The moon elf lord’s eyes trembled as he looked at the treasure that they found. Nero once said that mana stones are expensive commodities that raise their price as the purity gets higher.
Oh my goodness. They will be so rich.
"Let’s enter the Dragon Vein deeper and explore this place," Luis said and instructed Baku to slither to a foreign place.
Being careful remained his top priority since according to Xagrien, that certain someone who is behind those ice creatures is found somewhere in this place.
Who knows if some traps are laying in wait for them?
"Xagrien, what do you think? Do you find the trace of this..." Luis trailed off as he looked back to Xagrien. "Hey, what is wrong?" He asked worriedly.
Alarming bells suddenly sounded in his head when he saw Xagrien’s eyes turn snake-like once again.
Holy shit. An idea hit him like a rushing truck.
If a mid-grade mana stone turned Xagrien into a starved wolf, then all these mana stones are equivalent to a feast of high-quality beef barbeque!
"I’m starving. I want to eat it."
Luis broke into goosebumps when he heard this from his lover.
This is bad news!
His voice was hoarse and there was a faint smacking sound from the male’s lips.
Xagrien didn’t hesitate and this time he jumped out of Baku’s back.
"This crazy guy!" Luis felt like he aged 20 years more.
"Where is he going, my lord?" Ilian immediately asked. He saw that something was off with his friend so he instantly got worried.
"I’m going to follow him," Luis instantly replied.
He jumped down in pursuit of Xagrien. However, his toes haven’t touched the ground yet when a sudden situation unfolds.
Several ice lizard-like creatures suddenly materialized from one of the pillars of mana stones.
They stood like human beings yet they attacked Xagrien like feral beasts.
"Xagrien!"
"Young man!"
Legland and the others exclaimed. They felt like their hearts slipped out of their ribcage due to the turn of events. Why did they attack now?
"There are some magic circles carved around this place! Do not carelessly set foot on the ground!" Luis just said this and then when his feet touched the ground, a magic circle suddenly lightened up from the ground.
Fuck! What a blunder, Luis!
Before he could even react, the light that signals the activation of the magic circle bathed him and his subordinates.
’I will never forgive myself if my people were hurt because of this!’ That is Luis’s last thought once everything that he sees was pure white.
