Chapter 1402: Fuming
Chapter 1402: Chapter 1402: Fuming
In the evening, Luo Ziling stayed in the hotel to accompany Lin Lan.
Luo Ziling didn’t want Lin Lan to suffer any after-effects, so he exercised great restraint all evening. Fearing that Lin Lan couldn’t control herself, he hypnotized her after treating her. After Lin Lan fell asleep, Luo Ziling also forced himself to sleep.
The next day when he woke up and saw that it was already broad daylight and Lin Lan was still sleeping soundly, Luo Ziling breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he felt a bit of regret for not doing ’that’ with Lin Lan again, he felt more relief.
He was quite impressed with himself for being able to control his desires while sleeping next to a naked woman.
In the future, he could boast about it, at least he could brag in front of Lin Lan.
When Luo Ziling got up, he saw Lin Lan was still sleeping soundly, so he didn’t wake her.
After washing up, he went downstairs to buy breakfast.
After he came back with breakfast, Lin Lan woke up.
She was woken by the sound of Luo Ziling coming in.
Seeing Luo Ziling, she revealed a sweet smile.
Looking at the time, it was already eight o’clock in the morning.
Last night’s phone call from Phoenix didn’t specify what time they would pick Lin Lan up today, but it definitely wouldn’t be too late.
Lin Lan didn’t linger in bed any longer, and got up as well.
With Luo Ziling’s help, she got dressed, washed up, and then started to have breakfast.
Just as they began eating breakfast, Phoenix came in with Shanque.
"To think that Captain Phoenix herself has come to pick you up, Lin Lan must truly feel honored," Luo Ziling couldn’t help joking after seeing Phoenix’s poker face: "Comrade Phoenix, you’ve been quite free these days, haven’t you!"
Phoenix approached Luo Ziling and whispered threateningly: "I hope you don’t fall into my hands."
Luo Ziling completely ignored Phoenix’s threat, "Alright, I’ll try to avoid you then. If you want to meet Ouyang Feifei or others, there’s no need to find me; and next time you want help, please don’t come looking for me either. It seems I don’t need your help for anything, and life can be more serene without seeing you. Hope I never have to see you again, happy with that?"
"No one has ever dared to threaten or insult me before."
"Congratulations on the change in your life, finally someone has threatened you and dared to bully you. How about celebrating it properly?" Luo Ziling spoke these words without deliberately suppressing his voice, so Lin Lan and Shanque listening by the side heard everything.
Both women stared at Luo Ziling in astonishment.
They were very anxious inside, fearing that Phoenix, infuriated by embarrassment, might do something to Luo Ziling.
Phoenix was very angry inside, but she didn’t threaten Luo Ziling, nor did her gaze seem particularly menacing.
But her demeanor made Lin Lan and Shanque even more worried.
They knew all too well that Phoenix’s expression meant she was furious inside and could erupt at any moment.
When she erupts, her fury would be thunderous.
However, Luo Ziling didn’t take it to heart, chuckled, and then said to Lin Lan and Shanque: "Your captain is really a person without a sense of humor. In the future, I don’t know what kind of man would be willing to live with her for a lifetime."
"Enough," Phoenix snorted coldly, and then ordered Lin Lan and Shanque, "Pack up and leave quickly!"
As she spoke, she turned and left the room.
Luo Ziling chased after her to the door and shouted at Phoenix’s retreating figure: "Later, I’m going to complain to your superior, let him judge the situation, see if it’s right to treat someone who has helped Dragon Rise like this. And I’ll suggest that he teach you a lesson on moral character, so you all know what courtesy means. Such an unempathetic woman."
"Ziling, don’t be angry with her," Lin Lan couldn’t help herself and came over to grab Luo Ziling’s hand, pleading continuously: "Do you know that we lost a team member, just yesterday. Phoenix was very irritated after finding out, and she’s under a lot of pressure."
"Alright, I didn’t know about that, I was just trying to joke with her," he said.
"Sigh," Lin Lan sighed, "She’s the team leader; when something happens, she’s the first one responsible."
"Am I not unaware?" Luo Ziling grumbled discontentedly: "Why does she always look so stern, as if everyone owes her a fortune? By the way, how did your comrade die?"
Shanque helped Lin Lan answer this question: "Like Peacock, poisoned, but without calling for your help, and in the end... passed away in an accident."
"It must have been that the diagnosis didn’t reveal it was Aconite Grass poisoning, right? No proper treatment was given," Luo Ziling’s expression became serious, "And at the beginning, the symptoms were mild, so it was only treated as ordinary poisoning, eventually leading to an accident?"
"I’m not clear about the specifics," Shanque hesitated, then said, "But that comrade had other injuries too, which might have obscured the symptoms of the poisoning."
"Why didn’t you notify me?" Luo Ziling was somewhat angry, "Is Lin Lan the only person who can ask for my medical help?"
Neither Lin Lan nor Shanque knew how to answer that.
They weren’t clear about the specifics of the accident.
The comrade who had died was from a different department, not one that operated with them.
Dragon Rise is a huge organization, and Phoenix leads the Dragon Rise special combat team. But underneath Dragon Rise, there are several other departments. The comrade who had sacrificed was from the support troops, and even Lin Lan and Shanque didn’t know exactly who it was.
Shanque had only just heard about the incident from Phoenix on her way there but didn’t dare to ask for details.
"Alright, I shouldn’t have lost my temper with Phoenix at such a time, nor should I have joked with her," Luo Ziling admitted his mistake and then said: "Actually, many of you still don’t trust my medical skills, always thinking that the hospital’s medical level is higher than mine. Thinking of us as charlatans, swindlers, that curing people is just luck."
"Let’s not dwell on these, let’s go!" Lin Lan tugged at Luo Ziling’s arm and reminded in a low voice, "When you meet the superior later, you can ask him about the situation. He should tell you what happened."
"Actually, I really want to know the details of your operation, why there was another accident!"
Lin Lan shook her head, "We can’t say, or it would be a breach of discipline, but you can ask the superior!"
"Fine then!"
Luo Ziling didn’t say much else and helped Lin Lan with her things, together they took the elevator downstairs.
Phoenix hadn’t left but was waiting in the car for them.
Shanque drove, Lin Lan and Luo Ziling sat in the back seat, with Phoenix occupying the passenger seat first.
After the car left the hotel, Luo Ziling directly apologized to Phoenix and made his intentions clear: "If any of your team members have an accident or are injured, you can find me for help. I offer my services for free and I can guarantee that I will be as dedicated as any doctor. Moreover, I assure you that as long as the injured is still breathing, I have a very high chance of saving them."
"Alright," Phoenix glanced at Luo Ziling a bit surprised, but finally agreed: "I’ll remember your words!"
Of course, Luo Ziling could not have anticipated that because of these words just now, he would end up with a lot more trouble.
