The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system -
Chapter 498 - 498 An expedition for something
498: An expedition for something.
498: An expedition for something.
Maggie, the watcher kept an eye on Alix all through the night, waiting for her to make a move on master Rong but nothing happened.
At 2 a.m however, a little dragon flew out of the a window and took to the skies.
“She is on the move.” Maggie communicated.
On the ground and in the air, forces were mobilized and tasked to follow Alix.
She was aware that they were following her and she didn’t care anyway.
She just wanted to know where things led.
Besides, her system was making a lot of noise about the mysterious meet.
After surrendering Lai Yanfang’s system, it was anticipating the opportunity to devour another.
As always, Alix was not alone and she made the short journey with Majesty on her back.
He was her back up in case she had to fight someone or something.
When she arrived at the church, she landed on the branch of a big tree, changed to human form and then, jumped down and landed on the ground on her two feet.
Her eyes did not change, she kept them in dragon form because her vision was sharper that way.
At 3 a.m, she expected the church to be closed and empty however it was packed full and prayers were on going.
Perhaps it was because it was Christmas eve, an important day for all Christians around the world that it was full to the maximum.
It was decorated with Christmas lights outside and it looked beautiful.
Alix had never been to a church on Christmas and a small part of her wanted to pause and take a picture but this was not the time for it.
Her head returned to the mission at hand and the cat in her hands.
She figured that it would be very awkward to be seen carrying a cat around so she stuffed Majesty inside her jacket but left enough space for his shiny dark eyes to peek outside.
“Stay quiet.” she told him.
Casually, she walked into the church and took the nearest seat close to the exit in case she needed to make a quick exist.
She had no idea who she was supposed to meet so she decided to do as others were doing.
They were singing a hymn and she joined in even if she didn’t know the words.
The best she could do was move her mouth and try to appear as if she was one of them.
She even clapped her hands and moved her head along to the music but her eyes were moving around curiously.
Four other people entered the church after her.
One sat opposite her and three others distributed themselves around, making sure that they kept her in full eye view.
In the hidden city, the analysts were already at work with their facial recognition software and scanning technology.
In case they failed to get the opponent physically, they needed to at least have an identity.
While Alix was singing, or pretending to, a nun came by her row and handed her a hymn book.
She wasn’t the only person to get one, everyone that had just entered the church received one.
The nun smiled and gestured at the book before walking away so Alix opened it.
[In five minutes, make your way to the bathroom.] The note included a hand drawn map showing her how to find the bathroom since it was her first time at the church.
She folded the note and placed it in her jacket.
To the normal human eye, it looked like that was what she was doing but Maggie was sharp and he saw the note fall on the ground.
He knew that Alix had left it for them.
Alix was doing this because they were an extra layer of protection.
In this new world that she had been thrust into, it was better to have them watching her back until she got her lay of the land.
The system had started the countdown for her in the meantime.
It had also scanned the note because she instructed it to save a sample of the handwriting since all the notes were handwritten.
You never know what could come in handy on a fact finding mission.
The minutes passed quickly and the assigned time arrived.
She stood up and started walking to the bathroom following the instructions which she had memorized.
While Maggie picked up the note, one person stood up and followed Alix while maintaining a distance.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion close by and naturally he turned around.
At that very moment, Alix was snatched and pulled into a narrow hallway before she could make it to the bathroom.
A hand was placed over her mouth and she was dragged into a different room, a smaller room that was part of the church from what she could tell.
It had lit candles, a cross of Jesus on the wall and books on shelves___, all religious books like bibles, hymn books and books on faith.
There was only one person in the room, the nun that had handed her the hymn book.
She was standing in the corner in the shadows, avoiding the bright candle light but Alix could recognize her because her dragon vision didn’t miss much.
Her system too was already scanning the nun.
“Hello, Tai Alix.” she greeted from where she was.
“Hello to you too, miss nun.” she greeted casually and searched for somewhere to sit.
There was no chair in the small room so she didn’t have anywhere to sit.
For a few seconds, she considered the table but with the holy books sitting on it, she felt like her actions would be somewhat disrespectful so she decided to stand.”So, are you actually a nun?” The nun laughed.
“Does it matter?” Alix laughed as well.
“Yes it does.
It’s the deciding factor on whether i will be killing you tonight or not.” “How funny.” The woman scoffed.
“I don’t think we are close enough to share personal details yet.
Of course, i know all about you.
No, we know all about you.
Tai Alix, married to Zhang Caishen, recently dislodged a bone on your biological father’s spine, addicted to chocolate.” “Everyone that knows me is aware of ninety nine percent of those things.” Alix touched some of the books on the table lazily, giving off an appearance of being unbothered.
“You should not waste your time by coming off mysterious and monstrous.
If you know about me then you should know that i value my sleeping hours and you have already taken up thirty minutes of that precious time.” “Have you been to the hidden city?” The woman asked.
Alix’s hand stopped moving and she tilted her head to the right, staring at the woman with curious eyes.
Was this an information fishing expedition?
Whatever it was, she wouldn’t away any answers easily.
Just as this could be someone from the dark side, it could also be the bureau testing her to see if she could keep the secret about the city.
It could also be an independent organization that was unrelated to the bureau or the dark side, like Everyone, the assassin group.
“I have been to a lot of places, i don’t remember them all.” she answered nonchalantly.
“Now who is being mysterious?” the woman laughed.
