Chapter 489 - 489 What was the end game
489: What was the end game?
489: What was the end game?
Having been informed that in game death was felt physically in the real world, Caishen ripped the laptop out of Alix’s hands the moment he saw the notification on the screen that she was dead.
The laptop fell down to the ground and one of it’s corners hit the table.
He didn’t care about that as his attention was fully on his wife who whose body was shivering and glowing light blue.
It was not an enchanting kind of light blue as she was twitching and crying in pain.
“Alix,” he called her name worriedly.
He had no idea what to do to help her and his fear doubled the moment he saw blood coming out of her nose.
He put his hands beneath her back and carried her.
He winced because she was hot, as hot as a furnace but his worry for her exceeded the burning sensation on his own hands.
“We are going to a hospital right now.” “No.” She croaked out weakly.
“I am okay, it’s just for a minute.” If they went to a hospital how would he explain her body that was glowing blue?
How would he explain her abnormal temperature?
Moreover, with the bureau watching them, she would be whisked away to the hidden city immediately for testing and questioning.
Caishen cursed silently and he didn’t use fruit for any of the words he said.
When he made a move to place her back on the bed, he noticed a black mark where she had been.
A part of the bedsheets was burnt up completely, exposing the mattress which was burnt too.
There was an Alix shaped black impression left behind.
Heat was emanating from that place too and the cats had run away to save themselves.
They were peeking from the bedside table and meowing.
“What kind of insane game is this?” Caishen asked himself.
He had never seen anything like this.
“An all or nothing kind of game.” An answer came through his phone.
It was the voice of the blue elf that run Alix’s system.
He had heard it coming from the lap top before but back then, he thought it was a part of the game until Alix informed him otherwise.
In the air above the bed, a tunnel opened up and a few things dropped onto the bed.
“Medicine from her fans, open her mouth and pour it inside.” Caishen placed Alix down on his side of the bed.
He picked up the so called medicine which was in thres different small boxes.
Two were serums and one cream that looked and smelled like a lotion.
“What is this?
What is inside?
How do i know that it will help and not corrode her insides in some way?
Has it been tested and approved or are you using my wife as a guinea pig to test your alien medicine?” He asked.
“You ask too many questions.” The system answered.
” Alix had partially recovered, the heat in her body was dying down but her skin felt painfully sensitive and her body felt unnatural to her, hollow on the inside.
Although she appreciated Caishen asking questions, she wanted to be cured even more.
She raised herself slowly, while screaming and held her hand out.
“Hubby, I am in pain.” She said in a breathy small strained voice.
She didn’t have the energy to talk or explain the kind of pain she was under to him.
She just wanted it to stop as soon as possible.
Caishen’s face was grim.
He didn’t like it but he handed over the serums anyway and Alix downed them both in one go.
He helped her apply the cream on her skin and watched amazed as the blue faded quickly.
While he was applying the medicine on her feet, she said something that made him pause for a few seconds.
“Hubby, I have decided that I do not want to be cremated when i die.” “Noted.” He answered.
She moved her toes around as if she was testing them.
“My body feels weird.” “How?” “Like I am being stitched back together from the inside.” Caishen didn’t know the appropriate response to give to this.
He was not the one experiencing what she was going through.
Under these circumstances, was it better to say sorry or rejoice because the medicine was working as it was supposed to?
“Are you in pain?
He went with what felt right.
In an unexpected Majesty leaped from the bedside table and climbed onto Alix’s chest.
He stretched his body like a baby and put his furry little head in the crook of her neck.
“Ho!” She exclaimed.
“You heartless fat cat, so you do love me after all.” The cat meowed softly.
“It’s only for today.” Alix chuckled.
She moved her hands over the cat’s fur slowly, going up and down.
“I gave you a scare, didn’t i?” “Who is scared?” It responded.
She could hear the eye roll in its response, but for once, it was speaking to her softly, like it cared about her.
“I was right, you like me.” She laughed.
“I don’t.” It denied.
The denial was not even strong as it meowed pitifully like a little kitten.
It was so adorable that Alix suddenly felt miles closer to her cat then ever before.
“Thank you for the hug.” She turned her head and kissed it on the head.
Caishen smiled at the interaction between the cat and it’s owner.
It was the first time he was seeing them like this, close and soft spoken with each other.
It was weird not to hear any hissing, pointing, complaining and accusations between them.
Something positive had at least come put of this weird experience.
Thank God Bo was in the fold so he could at least discuss this issue with him.
He needed someone to tell him if he was being paranoid about the game.
He put away the medicine vials and looked at the laptop.
An all or nothing game, he remembered the system saying.
Was it necessary to go that far?
It was basically a life or death kind of game and they had just found a way to prevent real death.
But still, what if Alix had a heart attack and died while experiencing this fake death?
“It’s too dangerous.” He muttered.
He was worried for her but he knew that no matter what he said, she would not stop playing.
She was also an all or nothing kind of person so she would see this game to the end no matter what.
But, what was the end exactly?
Alix had no idea what her husband was thinking and she was looking at the time.
She was on an all night gaming mission and a little death would not stop her.
“Honey, can you please pass my lap top.
It has been thirty minutes already so my character can come back to life.
I need to see what loot I got from this selfless sacrifice of mine.
Dark Death is greedier than me.
If I don’t get there in time, she will gobble up all the good things and leave me with mediocre items.”
