The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system
Chapter 398 - 398 Now that's a good way to welcome me home

398: Now that’s a good way to welcome me home.

398: Now that’s a good way to welcome me home.

The next day, after making sure that grandma Tai’s cat which slept in her bed did not eat anyone while they were sleeping, Alix sent her brothers off to school and then she went home first because Caishen had returned and he was there waiting for her.

As soon as she walked into the house, she excitedly broke into a run while calling his name loudly.

She found him in his office, sitting in his chair behind his desk.

He was putting his des phone down, having just ended a phone call.

“Aaaah!” she squealed excitedly and dashed toward him, throwing herself at him.

“Hubby Zhang, welcome home.

I have missed you so much.” Bravely, she tipped his head upwards with a hand on his chin and put her mouth on his.

The saying was an apple a day kept the day away but for her, Caishen’s kiss a day, kept her moods elevated through the day.

Satisfied after devouring his lips for a good two minutes, she backed away and smiled at him.

Her lips were slightly swollen and shiny but curved upwards as she maintained her sunshine like smile.

“Hubby Zhang, you look tired.” She touched his cheeks and sighed.

She gazed at him with a softness and dotting in her eyes.

He really did look a little worse for wear with lines of stress across his forehead.

Out of the blue, he pulled her into his arms and held her tightly.

For her, it was a kiss to express most of her emotions and for him, it was a hug.

Hugging her in any way always satisfied him.

It was undeniable however that he had enjoyed the kiss abundantly and he wouldn’t mind being welcomed home like this more often.

“So you finally admit to missing me.” he said.

“So bloody much.” she admitted.

He smirked and tilted his head before pushing her away from his chest and looking into her eyes.

His eyes had a twinkle of amusement.

“Not fruity much?” “Nope.” she shook her head.

“How did your business in Shanghai go?”  “Good and bad.” he tilted his head left and right.

“I saw the news, a policeman was somehow injured but he managed to arrest the leaders of Red eagles that were trying to escape.

Among those arrested is one more who was among those that killed the policemen all those years ago.”  The news had broken late in the night and the footage of the police officer whose arm was broken, with a bruise on his right now and cuts from a knife that grazed his stomach.

All evidence pointed to the fact that he had put up a strong fight.

It was going to be a crazy news day for sure and the police in Shanghai would have their hands full dealing with the matter.

“That’s the good.

We managed to wipe out the Red eagles completely.” he informed her.

“And the bad?” she asked.

“Lai Yanfang’s ….err…clone, disappeared.” He laughed softly and leaned his head back against the headrest of his chair.

“I have no idea what we are dealing with.

She vanished into thin air and then Lai Yanfang’s apartment caught fire.”  That was also on the news.

Alix had checked what was being said online.

The fire had been extinguished but there was no sign of Lai Yanfang.

Weirdly though, there was a picture circulating online which showed Lai Yanfang getting on a plane and leaving the country during the time of the fire.

Also, evidence of embezzlement and misuse of funds in Dahei insurance had been discovered.

In addition to that, some of the content in that sealed file was leaked.

Lai Yanfang had been under investigation in connection to over two dozen suicides’ around the country and some were connected to Dahei insurance.

The investigation was still going on but it was safe to say that the story so far was pointing to the fact that Lai Yanfang was running from her crimes and she had successfully left the country.

Everything had somehow been arranged so neatly and tied up in a bow before being given to the public that was now cursing Lai Yanfang.

Families of those that lost their loved ones were already gathering outside the police station or Lai cosmetics demanding for justice.

“Alix..” Caishen called her softly.

“Mmmm.” she responded.

“Do you by any chance happen to have Lai Yanfang, the real one.

The story circulating on the news about her escaping the country is a lie.

I had my people watching her and she was in that apartment right until that fire started.

I only ask because you vanished and the apartment was set on fire like Yu Xi’s.”  He looked at her with soft but piercing eyes, as he waited for her to reveal the truth or lie to him.

He had received some pictures as well of something flying away from the apartment.

The pictures were not clear however so he didn’t know what was flying away.

“I have her.” she confirmed.

Alix had long struggled with the decision about being truthful or lying to him.

While a few white lies were good for the marriage too many would blacken it.

She could admit some things without revealing the system.

He reeled back meanwhile, surprised by her honesty.

He was expecting a big fat denial from her.

She had secrets that she was keeping from him and he didn’t intend to force them out of her.

“Have you ever used that laptop i gave you as a gift?”  He shook his head.

It was still in it’s packaging sitting somewhere in his office.

“I can’t explain to you how i got her out of the building clearly not because i don’t want to tell you but because of circumstances stopping me from doing so.

But, i will always be as truthful with you as i can.”  “Okay.” he said slowly.

“I will not ask much for now but whenever you are ready to let me into the wonderful mysterious world of Alix, i will be ready to listen.”  She threw herself against his chest again and hugged him tightly.

“Thank you for not pushing.”  Caishen couldn’t help snickering at the irony of this situation.

If he had not been having the occasional therapy sessions with the professor, he would have pushed her to reveal everything.

If she clammed up, he would have brought out those photographs that one of his men shot of the bird like creature flying away from Lai Yanfang’s apartment.

If the professor didn’t thrust herself into their lives, he would have had a hard time with letting her keep her secrets.

This right here was progress, beautiful progress in their relationship.

To think that he had almost terminated her when she first showed up!

If professor He had been present in the room, she would be proud of them both.

Alix leaned away from his body and looked at him.

“I guess you want to question her now.”  He nodded.

“Have you spoken to her?”  “I haven’t had the time yet.”  “Did you get hurt in any way when you were retrieving her?”  She shook her head.

“She was no match for me.

Have you seen my muscles?”  Caishen looked at her arms that were just slightly toned.

She was bragging about the wrong strengths for sure.

“Where did you hide her?” he asked.

Alix looked around and she saw the bag which she had dropped in the doorway when she saw him.

“In there.”
