The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system -
Chapter 378 - 378 A most unusual test
378: A most unusual test.
378: A most unusual test.
At Songbird music academy, it was time for Alix’s joint class for all cello players from the first to third years.
It was always one of the classes that were highly anticipated by the students in the week since it was fun, interactive and educative.
Even other students who didn’t play the cello often snuck in to learn up a thing or two.
Because it was a large class mixed with spectators and students, there was no absence of chatter related or unrelated to the lessons.
“What do you think teacher will teach us today?” “She promised a modern themed song choice for this lesson.” “Have you guys picked out what you will be playing for the finals?” “Aah, the third years look cool with their cellos at the front.” “I wish teacher would divulge some information about her personal life.
I am still dying to know if her father-in-law has two wives.” “Did you hear that the school cafeteria is changing cooks again?
It’s the third time in this semester alone.
What do you suppose is up with that?” “Look at senior Mu out there signing autographs for the juniors like a real celebrity.
Ever since he and senior An Ran won the winter cello competition, he has been walking on air.” The conversations continued for twenty minutes and the students slowly grew impatient as they didn’t see a sign of their teacher.
“Say, do you think class has been cancelled?” Amidst of the whispers, someone asked loudly a question that elicited different reactions from everyone.
Usually, a class being cancelled was cause for celebration among some students but in the case of Alix’s students, it wasn’t.
“I hope not, i have been looking forward to this all week.” “I paid for this spot today, i really hope that my money won’t go to waste.” This was said by one of the boys sitting at the front.
Other students were surprised to hear this.
Since when did people start paying a fee to get a spot in the class?
Was this how famous teacher Alix’s class was?
“You paid for a spot?
How much and why?” “Which idiot paid for a spot in class?” The whispers moved through the crowds of students like bread crumbs being transported by a group of ants.
But then, someone said something which shocked other students even more.
“Someone live streamed teacher Alix’s last joint class.
It shouldn’t surprise you that someone is paying for a spot.” While they reacted to this new information, Jenny walked into the classroom.
Behind her was Susu, the best pianist in the class.
She was a tall girl, average looking but quite elegant in her mannerisms.
The way she carried herself, aided with the way she dressed, her boundless talent and her sweet nature made her attractive to many of the young men in the class.
It also won her the admiration and jealousy of some female classmates.
“Isn’t that Susu the pianist?” “Are those canaries or do my eyes deceive me?” “Wow, now we have pianists attending a cello class?
As a cello student i don’t know how to feel about this.” “What’s up with the plant?” Jenny had come in carrying a cage in which two canaries were sitting on a small tree branch in one hand and a potted orchid in the other.
She set both of these things down while the students were murmuring or looking on curiously.
“Silence.” Jenny clapped her hands and spoke loudly to the students.
“I have a message from your teacher.” The students kept their silence, all of them ending their conversations respectfully.
“Teacher Alix will not be able to make it today.” Jenny announced.
Half of the students in the class groaned in disappointment.
A few even shut their books or picked up their cellos, indicating that they intended to leave.
“She has left strict instructions however.” Jenny told them.
“She had also told me strictly to urge you all___, well the cello students, not the others.
You should stay for this class because i will be recording it.
You are all about to have a test.” Whispers of the word test went around the classroom as the students were suddenly surprised.
There was nothing worse than a surprise test.
Uncaring about their displeasure, Jenny continued on with the instructions she had been asked to deliver.
“Each of you will have five minutes to play something that excites the musical orchid or the canaries.
If the orchid lights up and glows, you pass automatically.
If the canaries whistle or sing to your melody, you also pass automatically.
If there is no reaction from either, you fail.
If you are not a cello student, the test is not for you so you should start making your way out now.” Feet started to shuffle and the students who were relieved not to be the ones suddenly laden with a sudden test gladly started leaving the classroom.
Cello students started texting their classmates who had opted to skip to return to school because a test definitely contributed to final grades.
Moreover, this was the most weird test they had ever engaged in.
Usually, teachers would be the judges but in this case, birds and a plant would be doing the judging.
Not only was it weird but it was unheard of.
“To display how the orchid and canaries work, pianist Susu is here to provide an example.
You should all pay attention and learn something.” Jenny was still giving out instructions when other music teachers joined in, entering the class to see for themselves what the bizarre test was about.
The news about the musical orchid and canary test had started spreading on the music school forum as soon as Jenny informed the students of what was to happen.
If it proved to be an acceptable test, they would be borrowing the musical orchid and canaries to replicate the test with their own students.
“You will be taking the test one at a time starting with the juniors.
Whoever is confident should step up first after Susu.” Jenny announced.
She opened the canary cage and the two canaries flew out.
Everyone expected them to fly out of the window but instead, they landed on the piano in the classroom and settled there.
Those students with their phones out were busy taking pictures, so taken up by the cuteness of the birds that they forgot the birds would be contributing to the score at the end of the semester.
Some were paying attention to Susu and they were disgruntled.
Why did a pianist have to set an example for them?
It was a test for cello players after all.
It wasn’t a single person that shared the opinion but some of the seniors felt the same.
Senior Mu raised his hand and said, “Assistant Jenny, i will be glad to show everyone how it’s done in place of Susu.
I think it will go better if a fellow celloist leads the way.” He was so arrogant in the way he said it, with a smirk on is face.
Jenny had been expecting such a thing to happen.
Alix had told her what to do.
“Sure, it’s not a problem as long as you are aware that you will be given a passing or failing grade.
There are no do overs if you fail.” “I am confident.” he answered bravely.
At the back of the class, Yang Wangshu scoffed and folded his arms across his chest.
He was the best violinist in school with more awards than anyone but he was patient to observe and learn and yet Mu Ke with just one award was already arrogant.
He hoped and couldn’t wait to see Mu Ke make a fool of himself.
