The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system
Chapter 363 - 363 A union of husband and wife

363: A union of husband and wife.

363: A union of husband and wife.

It was the use of the word we which pleased him more than anything else.

She lumped them together as one, making his battle hers.

She had no plans to run just because things were difficult.

He couldn’t help comparing her to Lai Yanfang and wishing that he had met her sooner.

“Mmm, honey, i am fully on board with getting rid of her but we have a small problem.

Our people have found out that there is something weird going on around her.”  “The suicides.” Alix said softly.

Caishen nodded.

Then, his head popped up and he looked at her questioningly.

“How?” “I have been investigating her as well ever since….” she stopped talking and bent her head slightly.

It had almost slipped out of her mouth that she had been investigating his ex for a while, far longer than the time when she met him.

“I hope that you will not be angry with me.

I have been investigating her since your brother’s inauguration.

She approached me first and deliberately provoked me so i needed to know everything about her.” She even held her hands out so as to gesture, stick and land her point.

“I was not investigating you or suspecting you.”  He laughed softly.

“I know.”  She raised both of her brows.

What gave him so much confidence so as to assume that she could not investigate him as he had done her?

“You are the kind to blurt out whatever is your mind normally.

You are a woman that confidently told me you didn’t want a sexless marriage.”  She turned red, blushing at his words.

The embarrassment caused her to pick up a pillow and smack him in the face.

He caught the pillow with one hand, pulled it from her and threw it down.

“Ho!

look who is making a mess now.” she chortled.

“What can i say, i am learning from the best.

But on to serious business, the matter to do with the suicides is weird enough but then you have a file on Lai Yanfang which is sealed for national security reasons.

I am afraid that she is not someone we can just dispose of without setting off a few alarms.

Either she is being watched because she is important or she is involved in criminal activity, the kind which can harm the country.”  Alix nodded as he explained the two options.

“It must be number two, enemy of the country.

National security matters are a big deal.

They wouldn’t be keeping an eye on her if she was just a serial murderer.”  “Those people committed suicide so technically, it’s not murder unless it can be proven.” He reminded her.

Alix wanted to know what was in that sealed file.

It was possible that Lai Yanfang was important.

Maybe she was the one that helped professor Lai to grow the blood orchid to its enormous size.

Something like that could make her an asset to the country.

Maybe professor Lai had even managed to grow that Eguava plant here on Earth and the poison came from him.

Perhaps Lai Yanfang was a player in the game too or maybe she knew a player in the game.

The more that Alix thought, the more that she came to the conclusion that it was too dangerous for her and Lai Yanfang to co-exist.

One of them had to go, just as the blood orchid needed to go.

In fact, she needed a more thorough look into what else the professor was raising in that lab.

She had not paid much interest when she was there because the blood orchid took up all of her attention.

“It’s too dangerous to just let her be Caishen.

It doesn’t matter if she is being watched, she needs to go.” Alix mumbled.

“What do you propose?” Caishen asked her.

Then, he shook his head and said, “But, i don’t think you should be involved in the next steps.

Bo told me to stay out of it because we all need plausible deniability.

If there is blow back, it shouldn’t lead to us.” Caishen got a text from Mo Sen just after telling Alix this.

Mo Sen: [It is on the plane back to Beijing right now.] He put the phone down and looked at Alix.

She was already ripping open a packet of chilli potato chips.

He didn’t even waste a thought on where she had dug them out from.

Sometimes, she would dangle her arm just a bit below and come up with a snack.

It was if she had a supermarket under their bed.

He did find actually snacks there a time or two when he looked.

She ripped it open with ease and faced him with an unbothered look on her face.

Despite the look on her face, her mind was actually working rapidly, compiling the possible ways in which she could wipe Lai Yanfang off the face of the earth.

She had no plans of staying out of it and she didn’t care if the other was a possible game player.

The system had told her that if one player died in real life, the game still continued on.

It was amazing that she had run around in circles and found herself back in the same place.

She was back to the system’s very first suggestion, burning the bitch with dragon fire.

Caishen tilted her head his way and he looked at her curiously.

“What are you thinking about?”  “I have been wondering for a while now, what made you decide someone like her in the first place?

I think your ex is worse than mine.”  “Your ex is a pretty boy swindler that bled you dry because you like men with beautiful faces.”  “Yours is a killer, a serial one at that.” she retorted.

“If it’s a competition on bad exes, you win the gold medal.

But seriously, rather than comparing exes, tell me about her.

What made her Zhang Caishen’s type.”  Caishen scoffed and leaned his head against the soft head board.

He didn’t have a type per say, as she was saying it, not anymore anyway because she was the opposite of the wife he imagined himself marrying someday when he was younger.

He thought about the reasons why he had dated Lai Yanfang back then.

He couldn’t deny that he had not loved her at one point in time because when she left him, his heart had been shattered.

She had left him at a point in his life when he needed her to stay the most, a time when Bo left and his dreams as well.

“I wanted a woman like my mother and she fit the bill in some ways.

She came from a similar background as me, loved her family and we both had a mutual love for ancient art.

Most importantly, she understood the ways of my family and was okay with them.” He kept quiet for a while and the sound of Alix crunching and chewing the potato chips filled the bedroom.

The sound made it difficult for him to think so he turned his attention to her.

“What about you, what made you decide to date that God awful man?” Her eyes moved up and around she brought to mind the face of her ex-boyfriend.

She had not thought about him for a long time because he wasn’t worth thinking of.

Now that she thought about it, he reminded her of her father.
