The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system
Chapter 348 - 348 A plan gone wrong and an earthquake

348: A plan gone wrong and an earthquake.

348: A plan gone wrong and an earthquake.

Shanghai City.

Inside of a presidential suite at the Landis hotel, Lai Yanfang was looking outside the open window at the opposite building.

It was cold, she had no jacket, gloves or anything to stave off the winter cold.

However, she was unbothered completely as if she was immune to it.

There was a cup of tea sitting on the window sill but it had long gone cold and little flakes of snow were falling into it slowly, blown inside by the wind.

The building Lai Yanfang was staring at so intensely was the place where the building and construction expo would be held.

It was the place where Caishen should have been on this day, irrespective of the gossip online.

The Zhang family never stopped working in the face of a scandal.

They always kept going in order to project an image of strength and nonchalance.

“He is not here,” Lai Yanfang whispered slowly.

Her facial expression was neutral, hiding the true emotions she felt about his absence.

“Should i have released the news after the expo?” she asked herself.

The door opened and three people entered, one female and two male.

The female was Lai Yanfang’s personal assistant Si Yu and the two men were part of her protection detail.

They were also the three people that often did her dirty work or witnessed her dirty deeds.

Si Yu was a middle aged woman and she had been with Yanfang longer than the men as she followed her from the Lai family to the Fu family after she married.

Her loyalty was blind and unwavering and she was the kind of person that would lay down her life gladly for her mistress.

Of the three people that had come, she was the one that feared Yanfang least so she was the one that approached her and shared what they all deemed to be bad news.

“Mistress, he is not coming.”  Lai Yanfang didn’t even turn around when she asked for the reason.

She remained calm and cold.

“Why?” “It could be the scandal, they are his parents after all.” Si Yu answered.

Yanfang’s phone rung and one of the men carried it over quickly like a dog rushing to it’s owner with a ball in it’s mouth.

Si Yu took the phone from the man and handed it to Yanfang who answered with one just one word.

“Talk.”  She listened to the person on the other end and nodded.

“I see.” she said coldly.

She hung up and turned around slowly.

There was a deranged smile on her lips as she faced Si Yu.

Then, out of nowhere, she raised her hand and slapped the man that brought the phone over.

The man didn’t say a word, flinch or move away.

He turned his other cheek and waited for a second slap.

The second slap didn’t come from Yanfang but Si Yu.

It fell with much more strength than the first one.

The other man rushed over and he received the same treatment, a breakfast of two slaps from Si Yu.

The two men then lowered their heads and waited to be told why they had received the slaps.

“The second elder of the Zhang family is dead.

Baihe, tell me why i should keep you when you cannot do anything right.” Yanfang asked.

The first man, raised his head but lowered his eyes to avoid looking at Yanfang directly.

“We outsourced the job, mistress.

We hired someone online from that group of killers which calls themselves everyone.

I specified that it was the first elder not the second.

I will look into the issue and find out what went wrong.”  “You idiot….” Yanfang yelled.

She would have said more if the ground didn’t tremble suddenly and she was pulled away from the window.

Si Yu and the men rushed to protect her, covering her with their bodies.

They were like secret service agents, hiding their leader from uncertain danger.

“It’s an earthquake mistress, please stay down.”  Deep in their hearts, all three were grateful for the earthquake because it had just saved their lives.

There used to be more of them working for Yanfang in the past.

However, they had been trimmed down slowly, one at a time.

The trimming was not by being fired but death.

If the mistress was done with you, you had to climb a rooftop somewhere and throw yourself down whether you wanted to or not.

Suicide was Lai Yanfang’s preferred mode of work and someone always recorded it to ensure that it was successful.

If the earthquake had not happened at that exact moment, either Baihe or Fulin, the other man would have to commit suicide before the day ended.

The earthquake was felt all the way to the city of Beijing.

Alix that was coming out of Billi’s hospital room with a contented smile on her face was quickly covered by Bi Cang and other bodyguards.

The protective actions, as good as they were freaked her out.

Her body started to tremble while her mind went to dark places, places where the fear of being buried alive thrived.

Her breathing hastened, and she started hyperventilating.

In a panic, she started shoving the bodyguards off of her body.

Her flight sense was activated.

With her strength, she succeeded in pushing them away and she looked around with wide skittish eyes in search of the nearest escape route out of the hospital.

Unaware of the turmoil she was suffering, the bodyguards once again tried to protect her and again, she pushed them away.

“Stay away.” she told them.

“Young madam, we have to protect you.” Bi Cang told her.

She shook her head and held her hands out.

“Don’t touch me, i don’t want anybody to put their hands on me.” she insisted, a little loudly.

Her hearing sense was great so she could hear multiple voices from other floors in the hospital.

People were panicking just like her.

An alarm had been set off and people were being told to remain calm.

Alix, however didn’t know how anybody could actually remain calm under these circumstances.

“It’s just a tremor, calm down.” The system told her.

“The earthquake is not even here, its in Shandong.

The magnitude is five point six.

You are not going to be buried alive, not unless these earth quakes keep happening.

This is the second one in three weeks.

Is this a normal thing on your world?” Alix hunched over, put Majesty on the floor and put her hands on her knees.

She took in deep breaths as she stabilized herself.

Slowly, she allowed the fear to wash off her body and she blocked out the extra noise.

Listening to other people panic had amplified her own panic levels.

The VIP floor was suddenly flooded with doctors and nurses plus hospital security.

They had come to check on the important patients and reassure them.

Alix got to her feet and took a deep breath.

The urge to puke and then find a safe space to hide was strong in her.

“Where the hell is your doctor professor when you need her?” The system asked.

If there was an issue than needed fixing more than her complicated family ties, it was this issue.

The system was not ready to have a dead host.

She was strong, not immortal so if this had been an actual earthquake and she took off running blindly, she could have ended up dead.
