Chapter 349: Chapter 323: Metropolitan Grand Stage, Don’t Come If You’re Not Sick_2
"What’s wrong? The surgery didn’t go well?"
"No, the surgery went very well."
The Fisherman shook his head.
"Then why do we need to run now?"
Liu Zheng asked, puzzled.
"Nonsense, we didn’t use an anesthetic, it was just toughing it out. Now that the surgery is over, it can’t hold on anymore."
"What happens when it can’t hold on?"
He asked.
"What happens? Look over there."
The Fisherman pointed toward the end of the sewer.
A dense blood mist was spreading this way, and the howling wind coming from farther away sounded like the wailing of ghosts and wolves.
"If you don’t leave now, you’ll end up becoming part of them,"
the Fisherman said.
"Goodbye."
Liu Zheng took out the Human Bone Cane, leading the charge into the sewer tunnel.
However, Dr. Nile’s metal wings sprouted from his armor’s back and he quickly caught up with him.
"Damn!"
Liu Zheng couldn’t help but curse.
These guys were more stubborn than each other, turning a supposed escape into flying.
"Stop dawdling, let’s go."
Dr. Nile flew over his head, eagle claws sprouting from his feet grasped Liu Zheng’s shoulders, then carried him towards the sewer exit.
"Don’t stop after you get out, keep going further away."
The Fisherman’s voice came through, then was drowned out by the roaring wind.
The two heeded his advice, and after they exited the sewer, they continued running until they stopped by the French Plane Tree.
Just as they caught their breath, a column of blood burst forth from the manhole, shooting into the sky and turning into a rain of blood.
The trees closest to the manhole were splattered and immediately turned into a pool of pus and blood.
"Jeez, this blood is all acid, isn’t it?"
Liu Zheng exclaimed.
"Lucky I knew you going down there meant trouble, so I retracted my roots early."
The French Plane Tree said with a lingering fear.
Otherwise, they would have been flayed alive, if not killed.
"It’s all an accident."
"Are Mr. Fisherman and Mr. Sha Jiang okay?"
Dr. Nile asked.
"He’s an old hand at the sewers; he should be fine. Brother Sha has the Dragon Robe Funeral Clothes, he definitely won’t die."
Liu Zheng replied.
"Good, if there’s nothing else, I’m going back to my clinic. Let me know if there’s any news."
Dr. Nile said.
Even though the Sphinx had promised to protect the clinic, it surely wasn’t as attentive as he would be.
"Okay, I’ll come with you."
Liu Zheng nodded.
"No need, just do whatever you need to do."
Dr. Nile flatly refused.
"Hey, you’re really cutting me loose after using me? Afraid I’ll drink a few more cups of your tea, huh?"
He complained.
"Haha, I don’t even know who just wanted a ’full meal’ to kiss my daughter."
"But I didn’t eat it, did I?"
Liu Zheng argued self-righteously.
"Eaten or not, no kissing allowed!"
Dr. Nile gave him a mummy-style obscene gesture and then flew off.
"Hahaha, silly human, you’re despised by both men and dogs."
The French Plane Tree said, delighting in his misfortune.
"What do you know, this is called being verbally scornful but inwardly admiring. You think they’re happy to yell, but inside they respect me a lot."
Liu Zheng defended himself.
"Pfft. The sanitation department’s guys will be here soon, if you don’t want to be caught and fined, just scram."
The French Plane Tree said.
"I didn’t do anything, why should I be scared?"
He said as he began to run.
The sanitation department might not have the guts to fine for the sewer, but they sure did have the guts, and plenty of it, to fine him.
It wasn’t until he had run two streets away that Liu Zheng stopped.
Now he faced a new problem: where to next?
After thinking it over, he decided to go see Wang Manni first.
The Sea Girl and Vampire Sister should be working, and Liu Zheng did not want to be electrified by the Red Witch again.
He arrived at the West River Center and first went to Unlucky Coffee.
Seeing the still bleeding deer head, Liu Zheng remembered the headless deer corpse he had seen in Si Xue’s office.
Right, Si Xue still wanted him to swap brains with the sewer using that deer corpse.
If the sewer didn’t need it, then maybe he could...
Thinking this, Liu Zheng walked into Unlucky Coffee.
"Welcome."
The server immediately floated over.
"How many for you today?"
The clerk asked with a smile.
Liu Zheng was indeed a major client for them, ordering more than an entire company would.
"Let’s not rush, I want to discuss a business deal with you."
He gestured with his tentacles.
"What business do you want to discuss?"
The clerk asked.
"Can you make decisions on your own?"
Liu Zheng looked at him askance.
"I’m sorry, I don’t have the authority."
The clerk said.
"Then call someone who has the authority."
Liu Zheng stated arrogantly.
"Please wait a moment."
The clerk glanced at the diamond pin on his chest and said politely.
The clerk went behind the counter, picked up a pair of scissors, and stabbed it into the heart connected to all the clerks.
All the clerks screamed in unison, blood spurting from the breach like a faucet, forming a curtain of blood in the air.
A man’s face protruded from the blood curtain, recognizable by his facial features.
"What business do you want to discuss, human?"
One of the clerks spoke.
"I must remind you, if the business you want to discuss doesn’t satisfy me, I will make you suffer."
Another clerk continued.
"If you lie, I have the right to turn you into my employee."
The next clerk continued.
Three clerks, all with the same voice.
"Don’t worry, you’ll be satisfied."
Facing the threat, not only was Liu Zheng unafraid, he even casually lay down on the sofa.
"Then speak, my time is very precious."
Another clerk urged.
"The body of the deer head at the entrance, do you want it?"
He said calmly.
"Hmm?"
The blood curtain shook violently, blurring the facial outline.
"You have the deer body?"
One of the clerks asked gravely.
"Not now, but soon."
Liu Zheng replied.
"How much do you want?"
Another clerk asked.
"One hundred million."
He casually threw out a number.
"Human, it seems you overestimate the importance of that deer to us."
One of the clerks sneered.
One hundred million, not even enough to buy a headless deer corpse, let alone hire someone abroad to capture another one.
"I ask for the sky, you can pay on the spot, can’t you?"
Liu Zheng said indifferently.
"One million."
Another clerk said.
"Heh, do I look like an idiot to you?"
He scoffed.
An old vampire’s possessions are worth millions, and you think something Bloody Restaurant’s owner would trade with the sewer for is only worth one million?
"Human, if you want to do business, you had better understand the value of the goods first."
One of the clerks said emotionlessly.
"Fair enough, wait a moment."
Liu Zheng nodded and then made a call right there.
"Ah, Mr. Liu, you’ve returned from outside the border so soon?"
Wang Manni’s voice sounded from the other end of the phone, full of both joy and surprise.
She was happy that Liu Zheng had returned, meaning her previous investments hadn’t been in vain and she would likely receive a sizable return.
She was surprised that Liu Zheng had returned so quickly, far sooner than she had expected.
"Just overseas procurement, with my capabilities it’s as easy as picking something up."
Liu Zheng spoke loudly.
He noticed that when he mentioned going overseas, the blood curtain fluctuated again.
"Of course, of course. Is there anything you need from me?"
Wang Manni’s attitude was even more respectful than if she were speaking to her own supervisor.
"Oh, I’m here to discuss business with the Unlucky Coffee downstairs, wanting to sell them the body of their signature deer head, but I’m uncertain of the appropriate price, so I wanted you to help me find out."
Liu Zheng said.
"Okay, I’ll find out immediately. But my abilities are limited, I might not be able to give you a precise response."
Wang Manni said cautiously.
After all, although it was one building, there actually wasn’t much contact between the two companies.
"No problem, if your abilities are limited you can ask your deputy directors or someone even higher up for help. You can tell them that since I’ve returned, both Peacock and Mr. Li are no longer issues."
He said nonchalantly.
