The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?
Chapter 152: The Minds of the Living Are Just Not Efficient

Chapter 152: Chapter 152: The Minds of the Living Are Just Not Efficient

Liu Zheng looked at the object on the ground; it was a red button.

It appeared as though it had been removed from some sort of device.

"Name: Suicide Bomb Button (Disposable)"

"Type: Item"

"Quality: Fine"

"Effect: After being installed on an explosive, it enhances the explosive power by tenfold (not to exceed the limit), but the triggering method changes to button detonation, with the requirement that the player must not be more than one meter away from the explosive."

"Note: Heavenly ruckus, onboard! (Japanese)"

"Can it be taken out of the instance: No"

Sure, sure, so it’s that bloody team’s strategy, right?

Using this thing to blow up the ’Sunshine’ pet shop is rather fitting to the profession.

After all, both sides aren’t human.

However, seeing that effect, Liu Zheng did have second thoughts.

He had seen the power of the nightingale’s cluster bomb; if it were used on him, he would barely hang onto a breath.

And she wanted to give her bomb more power than a cluster bomb, if that power were enhanced tenfold, he really couldn’t say he would survive.

Even with "Blood and Flesh Rebirth," one would still need flesh and blood to work with.

Being within one meter of such a powerful blast would probably turn bones into vapor on the spot.

"Scared, aren’t you?"

French Plane Tree said smugly.

"Scared."

Liu Zheng admitted frankly.

He was willing to take risks for things that offered no reward, but that didn’t mean he was willing to sacrifice himself.

Besides, if sacrificing himself could save those pet humans, it would be one thing; the key point was that it wouldn’t.

Even if he let them go, these frail humans without any legal status wouldn’t likely survive in the perilous Metropolis.

To lose a life just for the sake of venting wasn’t worth it.

Even Intermittent Explosive Disorder couldn’t fully suppress Liu Zheng’s survival instinct.

"Hmph, I knew you humans are still the type to cling to life and fear death."

French Plane Tree disdainfully said.

"Yep, so that means you must have something that can let me survive, right?"

Liu Zheng responded without denial.

"There’s no..."

French Plane Tree had just opened its mouth when some force shut it again.

"purée! You cunning human!"

It cursed after a pause.

"Haven’t heard your French curses in a while; they are actually kind of endearing."

Liu Zheng said with a smiling eye.

"Hmph, to you it might seem long, but for me, it was but the blink of an eye."

French Plane Tree declared.

"Maybe. So, what’s the item?"

He asked.

"I can’t lie, but that doesn’t mean I have to tell you. Stupid human."

French Plane Tree said resentfully.

"Uh, didn’t you say that the first time we met?"

Liu Zheng picked his ear.

"Hmm... seems like I did. So what? My stance remains unchanged; don’t think you and I are that close."

French Plane Tree stated proudly.

"And the result will be the same; you’ll still give me the item."

He was equally confident.

"Why should I?"

"If I die, you’ll lose your chance to evolve into a Phoenix."

Liu Zheng said with a cheeky smile.

(Niu Ma, who was napping in the break room, suddenly sneezed.)

"Hmph, you think I really want to evolve into a Phoenix that badly?"

"Then say it, ’I, Dai Legao, wish to evolve into a treant more than a Phoenix,’ and for saying that, I’ll give you these drinks for free."

He offered generously.

"Why should I listen to you?"

"I’m running out of time, honored Dai Legao, future noble Phoenix; could you do me this favor?"

Liu Zheng made a clasped-fist gesture toward French Plane Tree.

"Annoying, just take the item and go, pesky human."

French Plane Tree extended its roots again, flinging the items along with him into the car.

"You’ve got quite a high level of technique for that landing."

The driver said to Liu Zheng, who had landed head down, twisted up.

Even though he tried to maintain a neutral tone, the smile on his face betrayed his amusement.

"Not bad, picked it up from a base jumping competition."

Liu Zheng’s tone was even more casual.

He righted his posture, then noticed that besides the red button, he also had a black suit in his hand.

The suit looked ordinary, the kind worn by secret agents and bodyguards in many European and American films.

What was special about it was that the front was intact and smooth as if it had just been pressed with an iron.

But the back was tattered and torn, as though it had just been through an explosion.

After checking the item description, a mysterious smile appeared on Liu Zheng’s face.

"These two items, it’s as if Pelosi’s family line has ended, a perfect (matching) pair."

"Let’s go, to the clinic."

He put away the items and said to the driver.

"Okay."

The driver put on a straight face and started the sports car.

As the exclusive driver for Bloody Restaurant, his familiarity with city roads and skilled driving were naturally beyond doubt.

Swift as lightning, the Ferrari arrived at the clinic’s entrance.

On the way, the driver even managed to show off some sewer cornering and perfect square drifting.

"Don’t worry, wear and tear caused by the driver’s driving isn’t included in the cost."

The driver reassured as he showed off his maneuvers.

Liu Zheng could only respond with a smile.

As soon as he got out of the car, he saw the clinic’s sign.

Just as Niu Ma said, it was indeed very conspicuous because a Sphinx was lying right at the entrance.

The huge Sphinx glanced at him and lazily licked its paw.

Liu Zheng mustered his courage, walked up to it, and looked down to meet its gaze.

"Human, what are you doing?"

After staring for a while, the Sphinx inquired.

Its voice was deep and sensual, much like a mature older sister.

"Waiting for you to let me in."

He replied.

"Why should I let you in?"

The Sphinx asked strangely.

"Shouldn’t you be asking me what animal walks on how many legs, and if I get it right, you throw yourself off a cliff, and if I get it wrong, you eat me?"

Liu Zheng remembered that’s how it was written in the myths.

"That’s Greek mythology, I’m a mix from Egypt, you idiot."

The Sphinx looked at him as if he were an imbecile.

"Now, either go in or get lost, or I’ll eat you right up."

It opened its bloody mouth wide, a putrid wind almost blinding Liu Zheng.

"Okay, goodbye."

He immediately held his breath and walked into the clinic.

Once inside the clinic, Liu Zheng was shocked by the sight before him.

It was less of a clinic and more of a small museum.

All the walls of the room were made of large stones, vividly painted with various murals.

Some depicted hunting, some cooking, some conducting rituals, and others partying.

In order to fit as many scenes as possible, the proportion of these murals had been reduced, but their originally majestic ambiance was still evident.

And the displays along the walls were lined with all sorts of objects.

There were exorcism rods made of ivory, clay ox statues, dried cat specimens, and so on.

There was even a pair of gold slippers.

Wouldn’t those be uncomfortable to wear?

Liu Zheng pondered as he looked at them.

"That’s just a decoration; we normally wear sandals made of reeds and papyrus."

A somewhat muffled voice suddenly spoke up.

He turned to see a person wrapped in bandages sitting up from a stone coffin, staring intently at him.

"Hello, is this the ’Imhotep’ clinic?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"Yes. Who are you looking for?"

The Bandaged said, revealing a set of rotten yellow teeth with no gums.

"I was referred here by Niu Ma."

He said.

"Oh, then have a seat. Sasha, pour the guest some tea."

The Bandaged called out to a coffin standing against the wall.

The lid shifted automatically, and a petite Bandaged woman stepped out.

From her figure, it was clear she was female.

Her chest and everything else was far more voluptuous than the first Bandaged.

"All right, Doctor."

Sasha responded.

Her teeth were properly red and white, clearly someone who brushed morning and night.

After speaking, she sashayed deeper into the clinic.

You’ve got to hand it to the bandage-wrapped look—it gives tight-fitting clothes a run for their money, especially when the face is hidden, inspiring endless fantasies.

"If your eyes linger for three more seconds, I’ll consider Niu Ma’s face and leave you a complete corpse."

The Bandaged said flatly.

"Cough, cough, I’ve just never seen a mummy this...lively before. Just curious."

Liu Zheng said awkwardly.

The Sphinx, murals and decorations, along with Sasha’s scarab chest decoration all made the owner’s identity clear.

"Sasha’s case is unusual. She has a disease that won’t make her age, but the cost is that her life force drains rapidly. To treat her condition, I had to turn her into a mummy."

"But, as a mummy, she lost her citizenship, so I kept her here to work in the clinic."

The Bandaged explained.

"I see, may I ask your name?"

He queried.

"You can call me Nile River."

The Bandaged replied.

"Okay, Dr. Nile River."

"By the look of you, are you Niu Ma’s new recruit?"

Dr. Nile River questioned.

Liu Zheng was about to answer when Sasha, holding a cup of tea, approached.

"Please enjoy your tea."

She extended the tea towards Liu Zheng.

"Thank you."

Liu Zheng took the tea, and Sasha turned to leave.

"Sasha, where’s mine?"

Dr. Nile River shouted.

"Sorry, Doctor, I’ll go pour you another."

Sasha said without turning back.

"Sigh, her mind is still that of a living person, not very efficient."

Dr. Nile River pointed to his own head and said helplessly.

"Eh..."

Liu Zheng felt like he’d been insulted as well.

"So, Dr. Nile River, I need to buy some special medical supplies, and Niu Ma big boss recommended I come to you,"

He shook his head, moving onto the main topic.

"Oh, what do you need? Not to boast, but my supplies here are quite special."

Dr. Nile River said with interest.

"It’s..."

Liu Zheng hadn’t finished speaking when footsteps came from outside the door.

He turned to see a person enveloped in a black cloak entering.

"Doctor, I’m here for a dressing change."

The cloaked figure announced.

"Oh, wait a moment; I’ll change your dressing, it’ll only take a few minutes,"

Dr. Nile River said to Liu Zheng.

"Okay, do I need to step out?"

He inquired.

"No need, but I will need to borrow your cup of tea."

Without awaiting Liu Zheng’s response, Dr. Nile River took the tea cup and drank it in one gulp.

"Alright, strip and lie down."

He instructed the cloaked figure.

"Yes, Doctor."

The cloaked individual shed the cloak, revealing a body covered with pustules.

The pustules were so large and numerous that Liu Zheng couldn’t tell if they were even human.

The figure laid down on the floor, their pustules touching the ground, eliciting a painful groan.

"Not bad, much better than before. A few more dressing changes and you’ll be fine."

Dr. Nile River said approvingly. Then he tore off his waistband, exposing a shriveled but sizable member.

He shivered, and a stream of golden urine shot out, landing on the cloaked person’s pustules.
