Chapter 545: The magic is inside you

Gyles

I don’t trust Major.

I don’t even know why we need him in the first place. I know what we need to do. We need to go to the coven, we need to find the room, we need to use the book to set them free.

I just don’t know how we are going to do this.

I don’t know if Blue is going to be allowed to even enter the coven. He didn’t leave the place on good terms.

"I am completely fine with the way things are Blue, I don’t want to go back to that mess. The mess that we left at the coven."

It sounds like he has made up his mind. If he is so sure of what he wants, why the fuck are we even here. Why are we trying to convince him to come and help us? I don’t even like the fact that we keep involving innocent people in this. Major is in this mess because of us. I can’t lie and deceive myself that it would have been inevitable.

The coven completely collided when Blue came back. Everything went to shit when we got involved--yeah, I know it was all his mother’s plan. Bringing Blue back, using Rex as a scapegoat. It all happened and I know that it was all planned. I won’t say this is Blue’s fault, I won’t say it is my fault or Rex but it all happened because of us.

I don’t think we should drag Major into this.

If he is actually doing okay like he says he is, then why do we have to drag him into this.

"Are you actually okay with the way things are?’’ Blue asks him. Right now, he is pushing him. I know what this is. He can never be happy hiding. This is not the life anyone would want and I get that but at the same time, there is a freedom that comes from not having to answer to anyone.

"It is better than going back to the coven, I don’t want that life anymore.’

"What about your parents, your sister. Do you want them to worry about you, do you want my mother to continue hurting the people in the coven? We have to put a stop to it.’’

He is manipulating him.

This is not the way I want him to be on our side. He needs to want to help us on his own.

"My mother, my father, no one is going to hurt them as long as they stay quiet and don’t go looking for trouble.’’

"So, you want them to live in fear?’’

Major sighs loudly, the look of frustration evident on his face. "Blue, what exactly do you want from me?’’ he asks finally.

I watch them silently, waiting for him to answer. I don’t even know what he is going to say.

"I don’t know how I am going to do this; you are the only one I can ask for help,’’ he mutters quietly. We are in this dark tunnel, having this conversation. It looks to me like Major just wants us to leave.

I want to leave too.

"If your mother is alive like you say, then she is fucking dangerous. She might hesitate when it comes to you but she wouldn’t hesitate to kill me. I don’t know if this is something I should involve myself in."

He nods in understanding ’I can’t fight her alone, I am not strong enough,’’ he confesses. I always knew that he felt this way. Blue is not confident in his magic and I believe in him more than he would ever know.

he doesn’t need Major; he doesn’t need anyone. The magic is inside of him. He just needs to let go and bring it out of him.

He needs to believe in himself more.

See what I see in him.

"You don’t need me; I am of no help to you right now.’’

He says tersely. His mind is made up. He probably let Blue come here so that he could tell him.

"Then why am I even here?’’

"Come on, I want to show you something.’’

He turns away from us and I watch him as he fades into the darkness. Blue turns to me and manages a faint smile as we follow Major into the darkness. I don’t know where he is leading us but the further, we walk, the brighter it becomes.

Major is leading us into a map. There are several walls that have wooden doors that are locked by a key. Major pulls on a strand of wood and it opens to reveal a long dark hallway. "Home sweet home," he chuckles as he turns to look at us again. He opens a door and the air actually feels like home. This is even better than the coven. I look at the walls. On one wall, there is a mural that looks like mountains. It must have been painted by someone with indigenous magic. The artwork is dark but it looks beautiful. I didn’t even know that there was a place beneath the abandoned train station. this is all surreal and suddenly I understand why he wouldn’t want to go back to the coven.

A door opens and someone walks out of the room. A woman, who looks to be in her twenties. She looks up and opens her eyes wide. Almost in shock from seeing us.

Recognition flashes in Blue’s eyes.

He knows her.

"Hello Blue," she says as she walks closer to us. "So, you want to go back to the coven?’’ she asks him.

He takes a deep breath as I watch him "Hello Wenona, it has been ages,’’ he manages. I see the discomfort from the way he is standing "I have no choice.’’

She nods "Everyone has a choice. You can choose to leave that life behind like we did or go back to it.’’

She makes it sound so simple but I know that he is going back because of me. He doesn’t have to go back but he is doing it and it doesn’t look like these people are going to help him.

"How many of you are here?’’ he asks.

She smiles "More than you think. We don’t belong in the coven anymore. The sooner you realize that, the better it is for you."

Her words are harsh but I know that she is right.

Blue is better off in the community with me and Rex.

That is the way it is going to be after all this is fixed.
