Chapter 503: Clean up

Darrien

I take him to the hotel room. He is still asleep; he has been coming in and out of sleep for the last hour. This must have taken a toll on him and I completely understand. I get him into the room and he doesn’t even budge. Jabi has never really been a deep sleeper. Somehow, he has always been wary of his surroundings. His past didn’t help. He always had to watch out for himself, so seeing him sleep so peacefully after so long makes me feel a little bit relieved but at the same time, because of the circumstances, I feel a pang of worry.

I take off his clothes, clean him up, cover him up, and then I sit on the bed right next to him.

I hold him for a while. I don’t know why but I know this is the place. I know this is where Jabi should be and as I lie there, I feel his energy and his life beating through my body. I feel the spirit of him flow through my skin and enter my soul.

I am not sure how long I stay there. Time seems to just evaporate.

I can’t stop looking at him and thinking about everything he has done. I can’t help but be proud of him. He was alone and he fought to come back to me. He fought to make his way back to us.

He was a true soldier. I know he doesn’t see things the same way I do. I would kill anyone that tries to come in between us. With no fucking hesitation but he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He wants to live a peaceful life and I will make that possible for him. I will give him his heart’s desire.

I reach for him again and he doesn’t budge. His chest rises and falls softly as he sleeps. I rest my hand on his forehead, slowly brushing the strands of hair on his face. I stay there, watching him in complete awe and love.

I watch him for another thirty minutes before I leave the hotel and drive back to the dock. The captain is waiting for me as I climb back to the boat.

We go back to the private island and I walk into the house again. This time, the girl is seated on the floor in front of the steps. She looks up immediately and I see that she has been crying.

"You came back,’’ see mutters quietly.

I take a step closer towards her as she stands up "I don’t know what is happening, I don’t know where I am."

"Do you know Lenny?’’

She shakes her head.

"What is the last thing you remember?’’ I ask her.

She

gets quiet and starts to cry.

She is young, doesn’t look a day over sixteen. She doesn’t have to say anything. I know what this is.

"I was at a party, with my friends, I met this guy.

He was so charming, so nice. We were having a good time, laughing and drinking, he took me to his place." she wipes her face with her sleeve and I watch her attentively.

Lenny took her.

Probably compelled her. I look at her neck and I see all the marks. He was feeding off her.

He used her just the same way he used Jabi. She was probably his last victim before Jabi. "Can you help me?’’

I nod and reach for her gently "Wait downstairs, I will take you back home. I just need to sort some things out here.’’ I tell her.

A faint smile sprawls on her face as she nods. She seems relieved. She sits on the stairs and watches me as I go up the stairs and into the room. The stench is the first thing that hits me. In the span of a couple of hours, it seems like days.

I look around for his body and all the pieces are in the places they were.

This is a mess that I will have to clean up.

The sky is dark when I am finally done and I look around the room and see no sign of blood, no sign of anything that happened in this room. There are four bags in total with his body parts. I want to bury him but I don’t want to bury him in the same places.

It is a good thing that Jabi killed him the way he did. I would have had to chop him off into a million pieces.

Maybe that was the mistake I made when I killed him. I gave him the opportunity to resurrect.

I leave the bags in the room and go down the stairs. She is still there; I don’t even know her name. I walk over to her "Come on,’’ I tell her as I lead her out of the house and to the boat.

For now, I just want to keep her in a room, have her freshen up, and then once Jabi comes out of it, we will decide what we are going to do with her.

I know I have to help get her home. She probably has a family, people looking for her. That bastard just took a young girl and completely took advantage of her with his abilities.

"I am going to take you with me, away from this island and then we can find out who you are,’’ I tell her.

She smiles again and this time, I see the glint in her eyes. She has the same spark in her eye that Jabi has. The innocence he had when I first saw him.

The boat leaves and we head back to the mainland.

It is almost sunset when we get there. I get a room for her and tell her to stay inside as I go back to the one that Jabi is asleep in. Once I enter the room, I hear him in the bathroom.

Instantly, I know something is wrong.
