The Werewolf's Vampire Mate -
Chapter 470: Jaina
Chapter 470: Jaina
Jabi
The next day, I walk around the halls in school with worry. I have been avoiding him and this is mainly because I didn’t tell Dar how I am feeling after last night. I had a sip of wine and I lost a piece of my memory. Does that even make any sense?
Right now, I am outside on the empty football field, under the bleachers. I am hiding because I don’t want Lenny to find me. I don’t want to see him because I am scared.
You should tell Darrien about this.
My wolf talks to me.
I wouldn’t have to if we could remember what happened.
I grab my phone and open a google search and type in my question, even though it is the most ridiculous thing ever.
Can you forget things after a sip of wine?
I read the first two results.
1. Forgetting things after drinking can be a sign of a serious mental illness.
2. Drinking wine can cause memory loss.
Maybe that is what happened.
I read the third result.
Why is it called a blackout?
That is when someone passes out without any physical injury.
Why don’t we remember these things?
I am reading the next result now.
Random memory loss, from alcohol.
That might be what happened to me! I want to forget about this. I drop my phone on the grass beside me and close my eyes. I knew the answer before I even tried to search for it. There is no way the memory loss came from the wine. I didn’t even drink enough to get drunk. I close my eyes because I am scared even though nothing has happened. My wolf is right, I need to tell Darrien what happened.
My phone beeps and I get a message.
Lenny: Hey.
I drop my phone as it beeps again.
Lenny: Where are you?
My hands tremble as I reach for the phone. I am not going to reply to him and maybe he will take a hint and leave me alone. Why did I start this? At the end of it all, it is all my fault. I am the one that caused this. I pushed and pushed and now I am being a coward and choosing not to handle this on my own.
I hear footsteps as someone walks under the bleachers on the other side of where I am. It is a girl, she sits down on the floor and there is a chocolate bar in her grip. Her hair is long and she is dressed in a blue and white cheerleader’s uniform. I watch her because she hasn’t noticed me and this is a distraction from the messages on my phone that I need right now. She opens the Twix bar and I watch her as she stuffs it into her mouth and then exhales slowly.
She is chewing the Twix and her eyes are closed. She slowly starts to move her hands on her head, swinging it from side to side. A big grin plastered on her face as she continues to chew. I have never seen someone eat chocolate so deliciously before. Once she is done with the bar, she pulls another one from her bag and does the same thing again.
She looks up and notices that I am watching her and her smile fades--almost like she is ashamed to have been caught.
I quickly pull my phone back to my view and look away from her. I don’t want her to be embarrassed right now, even though it seems like she already is.
"How long have you been here?’’
I quickly scroll through this and that and reply.
’’A little while.’’
"Did you see?’’ she asks me and she doesn’t have to complete her sentence. I know what she is talking about but I don’t think it is a big deal.
"Fuck,’’ she runs her hands through her hair as she stands up and starts to head for the exit.
"It was just chocolate." I point out but she shakes her head as she walks over to me.
"You can’t tell anyone you saw me here," she grabs my hands in hers and starts to shake me.
"I wasn’t going to tell anybody."
She looks at me and I shake my head at her. "I would never," I tell her as she lets go of my hands.
A smile sprawls to her face as she lets out a sigh of relief.
"Who are you by the way and how come I haven’t seen you around?"
She asks and pauses for a second before continuing.
"I am a new cheerleader and that is why I have to sneak to stuff my face,’’ she shifts closer to me and sits down on the grass. Her eyes dart from my face to the books on the floor.
"Who are you hiding from?’’ she adds another question even though I didn’t answer her previous one.
"I am Jabi," I tell her and she gives a small smile.
"Glad to meet you Jabi."
She is giving me another smile and I am watching her because she is so beautiful. Her cheeks rise up into her face and she is blushing as she looks at me.
A soft smirk rises on her face as she moves closer to me.
"You don’t even know my name," she mutters with a slow smile as she stands up from the grass.
I watch her as she walks over to the exit I was trying to go to earlier.
"Jabi?" she says.
"Yes?!" I quickly reply.
"My name’s Jaina,’’ she raises her hand up and places it on her lips "We have a secret, so that makes us friends,’’ she winks before walking out of my sight. A smile sprawls on my face as I pick up my phone.
I have to nip this in the bud. I can’t be friends with Lenny because he doesn’t seem like a good person and I am pretty sure he did something to me.
There is no other explanation as to why I can’t remember.
"Found you,’’ I hear his voice before I see him and my heart starts to race in fear.
Shit.
