Chapter 392: The perfect life
Darrien
The reception is empty. Everyone seems to have gone. The music is still playing, but everywhere is empty.
I look at the dance floor and Jabi is moving to the music slowly. He is drunk. maybe I shouldn’t have let him drink all that champagne.
There is a smile on my face because everything Jabi does is cute to me. Right now, he is dressed in a grey suit. one that I picked out for him myself, and I have to say, my man is the sexiest person I have ever laid my eyes on. The music becomes slow and he turns to me, a goofy smile finds its way to his face as he whines his waist to the slow tune.
I stay seated on the chair with the drink in my hand. I volunteered for cleanup since I didn’t help Beau with the whole organization. it is not my fault anyway; he didn’t let me know that he needed help. Not that I am one to offer my services.
Jabi stops dancing and comes to me. He takes my drink and sits next to me. I look at him and he is already looking at me.
"Are we the only ones left?" he asks, I nod. He takes my hand and kisses it. I smile at him because he is the most beautiful part of my night.
the music starts again and he drops my glass on the table, wrapping my hands around his waist.
He is very drunk. He doesn’t know what he is doing. He is swaying his hips slowly and I am trying my best not to laugh because he is so cute.
"You look beautiful tonight," he says, I ignore the alcohol in his voice.
"Thank you, you don’t look so bad yourself." I giggle, he chuckles.
"I love you."
His words have my heart racing. every word of affirmation is something that I didn’t know I needed. Today was a wake-up call, one that I didn’t know I needed. Beau and Alanis gave me a lot to be envious of. I want what they have.
The fairy tale.
"Do you love me enough to marry me?’’ I ask him with a serious expression plastered on my face.
I never in a million years, believed that those words would come out of my mouth. I and Marriage don’t go together. I have never thought about myself associated with getting married to someone. Jabi is the only one that could even make me think in this direction.
yeah, this is me just spitballing. I know he is drunk and will probably not remember this by the morning. So maybe that is why I am brave enough to even bring this up to him.
"Of course. we are basically married,’’ he slurs with a smile on his face. He is still moving to the music with my hands on his waist. I grab his collar and pull him closer to me.
"I want a real one.’’
He chuckles nervously "What does that even mean?’’ he is still smiling and dancing. I am pretty surer he doesn’t even understand what I am saying right now--I don’t understand what I am saying and why I am even bringing this up.
Maybe I am drunker than I thought.
"I want to get married. I want to get married to you." I speak. I am pretty sure he is not listening to me. He is still swaying his hips to the music and looking at me.
"Alright. I will marry you." he is smiling at me.
Well, he is drunk. He will forget all this tomorrow.
Maybe that is why I said it out loud just now. I wanted to hear him say yes even though I know he can never say no to me.
saying it out loud makes it real.
"I want you to have my babies too. I want what beau and Alanis have.’’
He opens his eyes wide, maybe this confession will sober him up.
"Are you serious?’’ he asks me.
"Yes. I have been thinking about what they have and I want that. I want to be a family with you.’’
This might be me being jealous of what they have. I know that I am in a good place with Jabi. I am the happiest that I have ever been and it is greedy for me to expect more but today made me crave the things that I never even thought about up until now.
"We are a family,’’ he leans forward and rests his forehead on mine. my hands are still on his waist but he has stopped dancing. He seems more focused than earlier.
"It is not the same,’’ I close my eyes.
"Hey,’’ he breathes out quietly.
I open my eyes and he is looking at me with a serious expression "We don’t need to follow what others do to be happy. we are not like beau and Alanis. wedding or not, we are a family." him
"I just want a better future with you," I say. him
"What do you mean?’’ he asks me. him
I take a deep breath and close my eyes again "I want to give it all to you. you deserve the best and more and I feel like I am not doing right by you."
"You think this is not enough?’’ he asks me.
I shrug because I don’t even know anymore.
"What is it that you want?" he asks me.
I don’t know.
"You,’’ I answer.
He smiles "well you have me, so I think you should stop worrying about everything else and just focus on us. Don’t look at Beau, don’t look at Alanis. just focus all your attention on me,’’ he winks and my heart melts into goo. he presses his lips to mine and my whole world seems complete. I let go of his waist and my hands find their way to his cheeks. he holds my face in his hands as we share the most passionate kiss that we have ever shared. It is not a drunk kiss either. I feel everything. every emotion that is passing through me. he is mine and I am his. both
our lips part and I smile at him "I love you.’’
After a couple of minutes in our embrace, he pulls away from me "Come dance with me,’’ he grabs my hands and lifts me off the chair.
I smile because this is the perfect life.
