The whole thing at home takes longer than I expected. I had to be with them through the whole process. Father was the one person that didn’t handle it well. He wasn’t happy about the whole. Somehow, he feels like he failed Belis. I didn’t want to act like a know it all. I wanted everyone to handle things the way they wanted to.

So, I remained quiet through the whole thing. I said my goodbyes and he promised to come back and be happy. yeah, no one can assure anyone of their happiness but I know that this is what he needs and I know that he will come out of this stronger.

"So, I gotta go,’’ I wave my hands off as we all walk back up the stairs. So there is a basement in the house, where the coffins are kept. Putting a vampire to sleep is not as hard as you would think and the only way, they can wake up is by drinking blood. He chooses to shut down but he and Dru can’t wake up on their own. at the end of it all, they still need the family to wake them up.

Belis said two years. That is a long time. in two years, I would have my babies, they would be grown. He will miss out on all that but it is better he misses out and we have him back better than him not being here at all.

We all walk into the living room and Darrien sighs loudly. After everyone agreed to this, Darrien came over. he said he had to be there. I mean, this is a big step for a vampire. The fact that he admitted that he needed this, is a lot.

"Fuck, I can’t believe he is just not here anymore,’’ he mutters in exasperation.

I nod because I have always been used to the family being together. I mean, we have had our differences but at the end of it, we were always a family "He is not gone, he is still here.’’ Mother chips in with a faint smile. She is the strongest out of us all. This is shocking because this is her first son. The one she turned on her own. she must be feeling it even if she is acting like she isn’t.

"Yeah,’’ Eligio nods in agreement.

After everything that happened, all I want to do is go home and stay with beau for the rest of the night. I miss him already and I know he misses me. he has been texting me all day. I said it was only going to take a couple of hours but it took the whole day.

Father follows me out of the house as I walk over to my car "I need you to be happy... okay?’’ he blurts out surprising me and himself.

I stop walking just as I get to the car and turn to him. there is a smile on his face. "Don’t do anything you don’t want to. Do everything you need to be happy.’’

This is the first time he is showing any emotion in front of me. Belis must be affecting him a lot more than I thought he would.

"I want all my kids to smile every day. If Beau is what makes you smile. Then he is okay in my book.’’

He already said he accepted our relationship. I mean, this is a lot right now because the sincerity in the tone of his voice is making my heart tremble. This is all I wanted and now he is giving it to me.

"I will be there along the way. your journey to parenthood," his eyes dart to my stomach. The bump is not showing with the shirt I have on but I know he is imagining it. "I am here for it all. I will never stray.’’

This is a lot but I just keep a smile on my face because I don’t want to cry right now. meeting Beau and loving him instantly, all I wanted was acceptance from the people in my life. I already knew what I wanted. I knew that nobody was going to take him away from me, so all that was left was my family accepting our love.

Accepting that it was different but also being there. I have everything that I could ever ask for and I will be eternally grateful.

"Thank you, father.’’

I get to the community and go straight to the room. Beau has been checking up on me all day. Asking when I would be done. I didn’t know why but when I get to the room and find it empty, I call him immediately and he answers on the first ring.

"Hey, where are you?’’ I ask him.

"Don’t be upset, I went out for drinks with Bells and we are running late,’’ he tells me in a hurry. I furrow my brows as I walk into the bathroom and put the phone on speaker. Slowly dropping it on the sink.

"What? You didn’t tell me you were going out?’’

He laughs nervously into the phone and I hear bells in the background but there is no music. "Hey Lanis,’’ she screams into the phone. I know that going out used to be a regular thing for them before he started daring me. I just expected him to tell me, considering we talked all day.

I open the tap as he continues "I am sorry. I knew you had a lot to deal with and I didn’t want to be all up in your face all day.’’

I raise a brow in confusion. He was all up in my business all through. we literally texted each other through the whole thing.

"Uh, okay. Just get back home in one peace,’’ I tell him because I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. I trust him and even though I just wanted to spend a quiet night with him. this is not a problem.

"I’ll call you when I am on my way." he ends the call and I look at my reflection in the mirror. I really wish he was home when I got here.

Bummer.
