"Has anyone come over?’’ Darrien asks with a smile on his face. I haven’t seen Darrien since he left the community, he looks happier than before he left. Whatever Jabi is doing is working. I don’t even want him to come back if that means he will always have this glow on his face.

"Nope, what are you asking?’’ I can tell that he is beating around the bush right now. there is something on his mind and he doesn’t just want to come out and say it.

He shakes his head "Never mind. So how are things going? I heard a rumor," his eyes shift lower until he is staring at my stomach. I raise a brow because I want him to say it outright.

"Nothing’s different,’’ he manages with a straight face. I know he wants to ask if I am really pregnant. He probably heard it from Eligio. I mean, this is not a secret. Everyone knows—even father. I told El to let him know and he hasn’t said a word. I know he is already disappointed in me. I mean, there is no way I could add to that disappointment. I have reached the lowest bar already.

"What were you expecting?’’ I cross my arms over my chest and he watches me intently. He is looking for the bump and yes, there is a bump but it is so tiny that you will have to see me shirtless. Beau is the only one that has seen my bump. He is the only one that I have shown that vulnerability. I am still insecure about the whole process but anytime I think about what Selene showed me. I know that there is a light at the end of this pregnancy tunnel. I know that this is a blessing that I can’t let go of.

"You are not telling me something? I thought we had a new relationship?’’ he asks with a frown. Darrien is a drama queen. He has always been a drama queen but now, we do have a new relationship.

I love him with all my heart.

I am closer to him than I ever thought I would be.

"We do, but you were on a vacation, so I didn’t think disturbing you was the best thing at the moment."

He scoffs "Dude, I live for disturbances. You had big news; you should have told me." he accuses me with a scowl.

Like I said—drama queen.

"You already know, and I am sure that is why you are here in the first place.’’

He shakes his head "I actually came here for another reason.’’

I raise a brow "Which is?’’

He looks away from me "My baby missed the community,’’ he lies. I know when Darrien is lying and right now, he is full of shit. I just don’t know what shit he is on about now.

"I guess congratulations are in order?’’

I roll my eyes "Yeah they are.’’

He laughs "Dude, the weirdest shit keeps happening to you. I mean, first, you end up with a vamp and now you are pregnant. Why aren’t you terrified?"

I don’t want to think about the times before my acceptance of this. Darrien has no idea how scared I was. Hell, I am still scared.

"You know, weird things happened to you. your mate is a fucking Hybrid,’’ I remind him "who’s to say this isn’t going to happen to him too.’’

I am teasing him. but there is the possibility. I mean, me getting pregnant might not be normal, but nothing about my relationship with Beau is normal. Darrien is the same. Jabi is just like me. he could end up the same way.

"You have got to be kidding. That can’t happen right?’’ he stares at me.

He is asking me like I have any clue about the supernatural things that happen in our world. the goddess has her plan. One that we can’t choose on our own. granted, I appreciate everything she has done so far but it is all out of our control. "Jabi can’t handle being pregnant. my baby is still a baby, how will he have a baby when he is still one?’’

I burst out in laughter because Darrien never ceases to amaze me "You are a fucking joke." I tell him as I stand up from the bed. he walks over to me.

"Don’t scare me like that, please. We are not ready for all that.’’

I shrug "You should prepare yourself. You never know what would happen." I am still messing with him and it is working. He rolls his eyes and before he can respond, someone knocks on my door. I walk over to it and Witt, one of the people on guard duty today is on the other side of the door.

"Someone is here to see you,’’ He tells me.

"Who?’’ I ask him because I wasn’t expecting anyone. I hope it is not Russ. When Beau sprung him up on me the other day, I wasn’t ready for him. Russ is a lot and I don’t need that right now.

"He didn’t tell me who he is but he told me you would be expecting him.’’

With everything that has happened in the community. With Cassius and his torment. I wouldn’t expect Witt to just let anyone in.

"Did you let him in?’’ that is the first thing I can ask. I have to protect myself and the community. The fact that the person refused to disclose his name, just shows that there is more.

Darrien walks with me as we go out of the house and to the gates. My heart races in my chest, for fear and worry, crawls within.

"You don’t have to worry about anything," he assures me. I am suspicious of him because he came to the community wanting to know something and it seems to me like he knows who is at the other side of the gates. Witt plays with the locks until it clicks and I walk out completely shocked by the person.
