Rex.

I open my eyes and I am alone. The room is dark, the sky is looming over me, almost like a reminder that there is trouble. I sit up on the bed and run my hands through my hair. It is long over my fingers. This has me confused. I look over at my hands and they are well manicured and long. Very feminine.

You are not who you should be right now.

Blue’s words come into my head at that moment. I stand up from the bed, feeling lighter than I was. I am not myself right now. something happened to me and now I am someone else.

I walk over to the bathroom and the person in the reflection is not me. the person that did this to me—Levine. I take a deep breath because I don’t want to panic. In the dream, Blue assured me that once I came back, we would figure everything out. I am here now, I need to find him. I hear the door of the room as it clicks open and my heart thuds in my chest. I am scared. Afraid that Levine is back to hurt me. "Rex,’’ I hear Gyles’s voice. it sounds like music to my ears and I run out of the bathroom, throwing all the fear out of the window. Just knowing that he is the one makes me assured. Makes me feel better. He looks at me with a smile on his face and I run into his arms. He welcomes me wholeheartedly. Blue is behind him.

He walks over to Gyles and we all embrace. The more time we spend figuring this relationship out, the more normal it feels. At first, I didn’t understand what the hell we intended to do. All three of us in a relationship but now it makes complete sense to me.

I am happier in both their arms.

They make me complete.

"This is weird,’’ Gyles mutters after we pull apart.

"Yeah,’’ Blue agrees with a nod.

I know what they are talking about. I am not Rex. I am not their mate right now "It feels like I am embracing an old lady,’’ he adds and I can’t help but laugh because I almost forgot all this. the little things. The banter, the jokes, Gyles being Gyles. I almost lost it all and if not for them not giving up, I never would be here.

"I am going to call Major. He said he would help once you remember, you remember now, so we can get back to normal.’’ Blue says and walks out of the room. He doesn’t wait for a response and I get it. he wants this to be done with and I feel the same way.

"How do you feel?’’ Gyles asks, grabbing me back to the bed.

I know what he is talking about. The last time I was conscious, there was this looming sensation. This darkness that I felt would eventually take over. right now, I don’t feel anything. I don’t know if she is still in my head. When she took me, she assured me that I wouldn’t get hurt. That she just needed me. now it seems like her end game was me dying. She lied to me, so I don’t know when she plans on striking again.

I don’t want to have to go through that mind control again. I don’t want to have to deal with it and then end up hurting them. I remember the last time. I remember hurting Gyles yet again.

"You’re okay,’’ I manage meekly.

He furrows his brows "I should be saying that to you,’’ with a nervous chuckle.

I shake my head "I hurt you. I am so sorry.’’

He grabs my hands in his "You know it wasn’t your fault, right? You know Levine is the one that hurt me. not you.’’

Yeah, it might not have been my fault but at the end of it, I still used my hands to cause him pain, so I will always feel guilty about that.

"I know, but I just want to apologize. I want you to know that I would never hurt you intentionally.’’

"You don’t have to tell me that, I already know.’’ He gives me this warm smile, it is like reassurance to me. I feel a thousand times better, just from seeing him smile. The door opens and Blue walks back in "He said he would be here in a couple of hours,’’ he explains.

"What happens after. Have you thought it through?’’

Blue runs his hands through his hair. I know he hasn’t thought that far "I don’t know. I want to take the two of you and run away from here. I can’t deal with the coven right now.’’

"You want us to be on the run for the rest of our lives?’’ Gyles questions him in disbelief.

"I don’t know G; I am out of options.’’

"We have the book; we have the man that gave you the book. As long as Levine is still alive, she will still be in control of him. we have to find her and kill her.’’

The way Gyles says it, makes it sound so easy.

"What book?’’ I ask confused.

I know I have been absent for some time now but I will like to be in the loop "Nothing, there is no book,’’ Blue brushes it off but Gyles cuts him off "You know that is the only option. You know it and you don’t want to give in. we have to cut off the spell completely, we can’t be doing things half-assed."

I watch them, unsure of where I am come in "I will not give in to evil. That book is evil, using it would endanger us even more,’’ he screams.

"How do you know? What If that is the only option?’’

"There has to be another option. There has to be a good way of doing this.’’

Gyles sighs loudly "Let me be the sacrifice. Let me use it." he stands up and walks over to Blue. he grabs both of his hands in his and they are having this eye contest—staring into each other "I won’t let him disappear again B, this is the only way."

He sounds so desperate and I can’t help but think that this is my fault. I am the one they are having this argument about.

They are talking about evil and sacrifices and I don’t know what to say.

"Okay,’’ Blue breathes out but he sounds pained "I will use it. not you. once this is over, you have to promise me that you will not hesitate to leave," he turns to me "Both of you."

I can’t make that promise.

I will never leave him.
