Chapter 207: Alanis and his fear.

Two weeks later.

Alanis.

The drive back home feels nostalgic.

I haven’t been home in a month. I have missed father and mother. I don’t think he has officially accepted Beau. This is me trying to convince him to accept the man I love. It has been a while and even though he said he has; I know he hasn’t. I park the car in the spot that used to belong to me in the garage. Now, this doesn’t even feel like my home. Somehow, the community has become the place I want to be.

It has become my home.

I switch off the ignition and Eligio walks out of the back door of the house with a wide smile on his face. I haven’t seen him in a month and I actually miss him a lot. Everything he did for me and Beau. He acted like a true brother and I will never forget all his kindness. The fact that he was the one person that had my back will never be forgotten.

"You are back,’’ he exclaims with a smile, just as I get down from the car. I walk up to him with a nod. "We thought you had abandoned us all,’’ he adds just as he hugs me. I welcome him into my arms and it doesn’t even feel awkward. Granted it is a man hug, you know the kind where you just are close enough but you only use one arm?

"Yeah, I came to ambush father. He hasn’t officially accepted Beau into the family. Want to talk to him about it,’’

I actually came home to get more of my stuff. I still haven’t packed all my shit. Most of the clothes I wear belong to beau. I don’t mind wearing his clothes but the other day, he created space in his closet for me. The fact that I didn’t even have anything to put in it just said a lot.

"You know he is still not happy with you. He might have accepted your mating but he never really gave you his blessing.’’

I already knew this. He wanted me to be without Beau. He said being alone was better. I made my decision and he didn’t push me not to but he also made it clear that he wasn’t in support. I hope things will eventually change for the better and maybe that is why I am here.

To talk to him. Get him to see that my mating with Beau is not really a bad thing.

We walk into the house and Elu appears from nowhere. She runs into my arms and I hold her because I actually missed her. Eligio and Elu are my people in the family. The ones I can count on "You’re here,’’ she mutters still in my arm.

"You guys know you are welcome in the pack?’’ I tell them as I pull away.

She shakes her head "It was weird last time we were there. Kind of scary too,’’ she grabs unto El and I can’t help but smile. I understand not feeling welcome but things are better there. No one is really judging or making anyone feel unwelcome. I think they are all getting used to the fact that vampires are part of the pack now.

"You’re here to see father,’’ she points out in a statement.

I nod "Yeah, is he home?’’

"Not yet." I knew he might not be home. I wanted to use the opportunity to pack my things before he came home. "I will just get some stuff from my room. Maybe when I am done, he will be back home.

They both nod and El follows me into my room "The Elis said you want to keep the vampire?’’ he asks once we are alone.

"I am not keeping him. I welcomed him into the pack,’’ I tell him causally because it is not a big deal. Gyles is not their property, so they don’t have the right to dictate what happens to him.

"Is that a good idea?’’ he asks me. I can sense the worry in his tone. Eli finds it hard to trust people. He believes that betrayal is done by the people closest to you. He seems to think this will be a bad idea. That somehow, Gyles will end up betraying us.

"He is Rex’s mate man. I can’t throw him out now,’’ I tell him.

The whole thing with Rex is weird but I find it beautiful. I never imagined that I will end up with a vampire but here I am, happier than I have been all my life. Rex has found his people and no one can take that from him.

’’Wasn’t he in love with Cassius?’’ he remembers the whole reason why we took Gyles in the first place.

"Cassius is dead, does that even matter anymore?’’

He sighs "It seems weird to me that this is all happening so fast, don’t you think?’’ he asks with me with a concerned ridden expression. El seems to think this is strange because he has trust issues. So I can’t really use him as a determining factor on Gyles. The thing that is happening between them is beautiful and I want to see it to the end. I want to know how the whole thing will work and I am in support one hundred percent.

"There is nothing there El, so maybe just relax a bit. Your lack of trust is showing too much right now,’’ I accuse him playfully.

He hits my shoulder playfully and takes a step towards the door "Why don’t you do what you came here for. We both know you didn’t actually come to see father,’’ he reads my mind like an open book. If I could’ve avoided the house, I would. I like the space I am in. I like the way things are and Father will just bring me down right now.

I am so sure of that.

The moment Eligio walk s out of the room, my phone rings. It is a facetime call from Beau. I answer the call immediately and his face pops on the screen. He is outside, I can see the trees behind him but his smile is what draws me in "Hey,’’ I greet him calmly.

"Why aren’t you back?" he exclaims with a pout. I can’t help but find it really adorable. Everything about him is adorable to me."

"It has just been thirty minutes,’’ I tell him as I check my watch for the time. He doesn’t want me to leave him. There is this clinginess that I have come to expect and I love it so much. Being so attached to me just shows how much he loves me.

"Come home,’’ he demands playfully.

Still smiling "I am waiting for Father,’’ I tell him seriously.

"The man that hates me.’’ he rolls his eyes.

"He doesn’t hate you.’’

"You hated me a couple of months ago. So I don’t expect otherwise from him,’’ he reminds me of the time we were enemies for no absolute reason. When I think about the past, I wonder why I cared so much that he was a werewolf. Now it all seems inconsequential to me.

"Okay, I get your point but you have to give him some time. He is not fated to you like me,’’ I tell him.

A Knock comes from the door and I look away from the screen of my phone "Come in,’’ I call to the person on the other end, even though I can already sense that it is Eligio. He walks into the room and over to me.

"Father is home,’’ he informs me as he comes even closer and peers into the phone "Hey Beau,’’ he waves slightly smiling.

Beau waves back at him.

"I gotta go, babe,’’ I tell him.

I walk out of the room with Eligio. I am very worried that this will not go the way I planned. I want to talk to him about Beau. I want to tell him how I feel about his denial of my Link. Things might not go the way I want them to but it is always better to confront a problem and the fact that the man I respect the most in the world, doesn’t like the man I love the most in the world.

"Good luck,’’ El waves before walking the other direction.

I stop in front of his study and just as I am about to open the door Belis walks out of the room. He raises a brow at me "Oh, we thought you had abandoned the family,’’ I know he is being sarcastic. This is his own form of humour. I don’t find it funny though. It has just been a month, so his accusations are unnecessary.

"I didn’t,’’ I manage to not sound upset.

"Welcome home bro,’’ he slaps my shoulder a little too rough but I manage to not flinch. I grab the handle of the door just as he walks away from me. Father is seated on his chair in front of his office table. He looks up and smiles warmly.

I release a sigh of relief. He is smiling, so that is a good thing. I walk closer to him and sit down on the chair in front of him. The smile wipes off his face immediately.

"Something is different." He mutters.

I furrow my brows in confusion "What do you mean?’’ I ask.

"There is something off about you. Something that I can’t pinpoint. What is going on with you right now?’’

I don’t know what he is talking about but I can’t help but panic.
