Chapter 195: Guilt

Rex.

"And what is this?’’

I hear the voice but I am still stuck in dreamland. This is all in my head right. I pull Gyles closer, my eyes are still closed. I am enjoying the comfort of his body heat. I take a deep breath as I try to go back to sleep mode, I don’t feel the sunlight, so it can’t be morning yet.

"Rex,’’ the voice calls my name. I feel Gyles move against me, at first his movement is slow but in an instant, he jumps off the bed. This makes me open my eyes and the surprise I see is not what I expected. For a second, I thought Blue came into my room.

"Beau,’’ I call his name as I try to rub the sleep out of my eyes. There is a smile on his face, almost like he is amused at the situation. I pull the covers over my chest, Gyles is just sitting there like a deer caught in headlights. I know that this is awkward for him but I am glad that it Beau that caught us and not Blue.

"Can you give us a second,’’ I plead with my eyes. He can’t just barge into my room. Granted, he has always done that in the past but he could have at least knocked.

"Five minutes,’’ he agrees, walking out of the room. Once the door his closed, Gyles burst out in laughter. I don’t think this is funny. Beau just caught me. He is going to tease me about this for God knows how long "What is funny?’’ I ask him.

He shrugs and gets up from the bed. I watch him as he picks up his clothes from the chair near my bed. Slowly he puts them on "So much for keeping this a secret,’’ he mutters finally.

I roll my eeys because now, it seems like a joke to him. He is really enjoying this—a little too much "Beau can keep a secret,’’ I assure him.

He nods "Yeah but he will tell his mate, who will probably tell someone else.’’

That is not how it works but I don’t argue with him. I walk over to him and he watches me, the smile still on his face "This might not be a bad thing. Then your real mate will know that he has some competition.’’

I stiffen at his words.

Real mate.

He is still in denial.

It has just been two days but I wish he would accept this already. It is pretty obvious already, he just doesn’t want to see it—or should I say, feel it.

"Don’t worry about Beau,’’ I give him some assurance. Deep down, he must be worrying. Once people find out about us, they will talk. Especially with everything that is happening to him.

"I am not,’’ he smiles and then leans forward, pressing his lips to mine softly "I can’t wait until I can have all of you,’’ he confesses and my heart thuds against my chest.

I can’t wait either, but I don’t say it out loud.

"I will look for you later?’’ I ask him.

He nods and let’s go of me. Suddenly I feel alone. I don’t know when next I will have the opportunity of having this kind of moment with him. I already miss him and he hasn’t even left my room. "Thanks for a great weekend,’’ he says finally before closing the door behind him.

I look at the bed when he is gone, the mess we made evidence. A smile sprawls on my face because deep down, I am sure that I will have more moments with him—even if he hasn’t accepted me and my wolf. There is enough time to explore each other. Enough time to get to know him.

I put on my clothes and walk out of the room, straight to Beau’s room. He opens the door before I can even knock "So when I asked why you were so interested in Gyles and you said nothing, was it really nothing?’’ he bellows quietly.

His expression is unreadable. I can’t really tell if he is upset with me right now.

"It was nothing.’’

I look over his shoulders, Alanis is in the corner of the room sorting out clothes. Our eyes meet and he has a guilty look on his face. Beau has probably told him about me and Gyles. There is no doubt about. I don’t know if they are expecting me to be embarrassed or maybe remorseful but I don’t feel any of that. The only feeling inside me is happiness. I am excited to get to know both of them. Excited for the future, for the first time in my life and Beau and his curious eyes won’t change my mind about that.

"Didn’t look like nothing to me," he pauses and then opens the door. I enter his room because I don’t know how to explain what is going on and he would like to know. "What did I walk into in your room?’’ he raises a brow.

I take a deep breath. "We kind of hit it off two nights ago,’’ I confess.

"What does that even mean?’’ he raises a curious brow.

"He is fun to be with.’’

He nods "Oh, I get that. So you had sex with him?’’

I shake my head immediately. I am pretty sure he thinks that this thing between me and Gyles is a fling. To him, it probably doesn’t mean anything. "I didn’t have sex with him, he is my mate,’’ I blurt out.

Both he and Alanis look at me with wide eyes, the shock evident on their faces "Blue said he was your mate.’’

I nod.

They furrow their brows in confusion. I like that Beau has no clue. He always likes to play smart when it involves me. He likes to be in my business but this thing between us is confusing. I don’t even understand it, so there is no way he would. Both sets of eyes are on me. They expect me to explain this situation.

"What the fuck are you talking about?’’ I can tell he is losing his patience.

"They are both my mates.’’

"How is that possible?’’ Alanis asks me.

"I don’t know,’’ I answer him truthfully.

Beau shakes his head "It is not possible. Your wolf probably made a mistake with one of them. Did you fuck Gyles,’’ he asks again as if I will lie about that.

"I didn’t, I already told you.’’

He nods "You spent the whole weekend with the guy and you still don’t know?’’

I frown because I don’t like what he is saying. I already told him that the two of them are mine. Why is he trying to look for a way out of this when I have already accepted it "I am sure.’’

"About which of them because Blue seems to be so sure about the two of you.’’

"Both of them."

Beau sighs loudly and then walks over to Alanis. They are probably communicating with each other about me. "I feel the same for the two of them,’’ I expatiate.

"That is not possible," Beau deadpans.

"It could be. I mean, we have seen things that we thought were impossible happen this year,’’ Alanis pipes up. That is the truth, the things we have gone through. The fact that Beau’s mate is a man. Everything is new but we have come to accept it as it has always been that way.

"But two people, how does that even work?

I shrug "I don’t know. I was going to ask Alby about it."

"What about them. Are they aware that your heart is wavering?"

"My heart is not wavering," I interject defensively.

He chuckles "Whatever is going on within you. Have you told them?’’

I shake my head "Gyles knows but I didn’t think to tell Blue. I don’t want to scare him off.’’

"He has to know Rex."

I nod. "I will tell him.’’

"You better do that. He has been waiting for you to wake up. You should check your phone for his calls.’’ He relays the message. I feel guilty all over again.

The minute I walk out the door, I feel a grip on my arm. It is gentle, but the butterflies travel all over my body. My eyes meet his. They pull me in, completely absorbing my heart in the process "Hey,’’ he breathes out, pulling me into his arms. He is taller than me, so I rest my head on his chest. His heart is pounding against my ear. I love the sound and rhythm.

"I have missed you so fucking much. It was insane,’’ he exclaims and I believe him one hundred percent.

"I missed you too.’’

We are in front of Beau’s room. I don’t want him to catch us right now, especially with him pestering me to tell him the truth. I had already concluded that I was going to be honest but now that he is here, with me. It is scarier.

He pulls back from me and I look up at him. There is a smile on his face "Are you going to school tomorrow?’’

I nod, he sighs, resting his forehead on mine. I take a whiff of his scent and my wolf screams out to mem begging doe a taste. I close my eyes because this is very hard for me. I hate that I am doing this to him. I should just tell him the truth but I am a fucking coward.

"Can I take you out on a date...tonight?’’

I open my eyes and he is watching me. There is a smile on his face. I feel nervous about the whole thing but I answer him immediately because I am already excited.

"Sure.’’

I have to tell him about this tonight.
