Chapter 46: Quest completed

The thought of Sarah being ready to risk her life gave her goosebumps. Abrielle adjusted her sitting position to hug her leg as a fleeting thought crossed her mind would she be able to change her fate

"Why would she be willing to go that far?" She mumbled it seemed absurd to her why someone would be willing to risk their life for a mission.

"The same question on my mind but I guess she knew her fate was worse if she had survived." Cedric casually mentioned and for a slight moment, his aura changed giving Abrielle goosebumps again. She was sure he would have tortured Sarah to the point she would have wished for death but it would never come.

"I have never offended anyone to the point of them putting me on a kill list, not that I am claiming to be a saint." Abrielle’s head was bowed on her knees. Cedric almost felt sorry for her and a long sigh left his lips.

The reason her life was attacked was solely because she married him, some people could not afford to let him have such strong support.

"You don’t have to offend anyone for them to wish you dead at times, just your existence is a sin. In your case your sin was getting married to me, you should have tried harder to run away that day." Cedric chimed, there was no sympathy in his voice, Abrielle doubted he was capable of feeling the emotion called sympathy.

"Thanks for the advice, if I were to do it all over again I would not have used a horse to escape the morning of the wedding and be careful to make sure my fiance doesn’t find out about my plans." She joked which made Cedric smile at her sense of humour.

Even if she was to do it all over again he doubted he would have let her escape not after getting to know the kind of crazy person she was plus she was kind of important for his plans.

"I am glad you still have a sense of humour. That’s enough, I will inform the maids to attend to your needs." He rose from the bed heading for the door but was stopped by Abrielle.

"Do you know who sent Sarah?" She asked and he halted for a second.

"There is no need to bother yourself about the details, just know it’s been taken care of and please refrain from moving suspiciously around at night." He answered.

"If I hadn’t left the room I would be dead by now." She retorted but he was already out of the door.

.

"How rude," Abrielle complained. She sat back on the bed that smelled like his rich masculine scent though she would never admit it, his scent did have a calming effect.

Her eyes darted around the monotoned room decorated with black and silver giving off a strong masculine feel. Her dear husband was dark to the core even his room felt depressing.

A blue screen suddenly popped in front of her.

CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING THE HIDDEN QUEST AND SURVIVING.

DO YOU WANT YOUR REWARD TO BE REVIEWED?

Abrielle’s face went stiff; she almost forgot about the existence of this guy. She accepted, and then the screen changed.

The screen started typing and she read it as it moved.

ABRIELLE THE TALENTLESS DAUGHTER OF THE NIGHTSHADE DAUGHTER WAS NOT AS USELESS AS THEY SAID BUT INSTEAD, HER ABILITIES WERE SEALED AT A YOUNG AGE BECAUSE SHE POSSESSED DARK MAGIC INSTEAD OF HOLY MAGIC.

Abrielle’s eyes sparkled, she wasn’t expecting this. She remembered in the plot of The Dragons and the priestess Abrielle was a strong magic user towards the end of the plot because she had introduced a twist that Abrielle possessed dark magic akin to a witch which was not expected as she came from a family that possessed holy magic and led the temple.

The only person that could win a stand-off against with pure magic was the female lead but in the end, despite having such abilities she died with a broken heart unable to fight her husband and dying by his blade.

The moral lesson is never to fall in love with the villain and doesn’t rely on only magic. Then again Abrielle tilted her chin to think, her dark magic ability was something that Abrielle was completely unaware of and was the reason she had a very fragile body because her body was not compatible with it.

Why was the system bringing up something that wasn’t meant to be discovered until the climax of the book in the prequel? In the end, there was no one she could ask this question as her eyes went back to the screen.

SURVIVING THE DARK MAGIC ATTACK HAD RELEASED THE SEAL EARLIER THAN INTENDED. DO YOU ACCEPT TO IMPROVE YOUR SKILL OR IGNORE IT?

Without a doubt, she wanted to improve her skills. She accepted, and then the screen changed.

FIND THE SPY’S SPELL BOOK HIDDEN IN HER ROOM BEFORE THE VILLAIN DOES.

The screen disappeared, another task, it felt like this so-called system was controlling her. There was a knock on the door distracting her from her thoughts.

"Princess Abrielle, we were sent by the first prince to attend to your needs." A maid’s voice spoke from the other side of the door. Abrielle cleared her throat before responding.

"You can come in," she informed the maids and the door was pushed open. They all filled in. "Good morning, Your Highness." They chorused on entering the room and started working on helping her.

Most of her things were already moved to Cedric’s room. This presented a serious issue before her. How was she going to keep her intentions hidden from his sharp eyes?

The maid was almost done helping her with her outfit and casually talking about random stuff when they mentioned something that surprised Abrielle.

"I am glad, your highness has recovered, now the prince can finally relax." She mentioned it while tying her corset. It was annoying that she still had to wear one after just recovering.

She had already had a quick bath and since she was sustained by magic while unconscious it felt like she just woke up from a long sleep and not a coma so she was able to endure the torture of wearing a corset before eating. This was pure torture. This people had different priorities.

"The prince was disturbed by my illness." She blurted, unable to believe it a single bit.

The maid’s eyes sparkled and she quickly answered. "Yes, he was, these past 2 weeks he never left the room and was patiently by your side." The maid’s eyes were dreamy as she spoke.
