The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 400: Jealous husband
Chapter 400: Jealous husband
Light music could be heard from outside, and the surrounding was vibrant with too many colours. It wasn’t just a victory banquet but an engagement party. Abrielle wondered how Bernice and the Sumerian prince’s story would unfold. Was it going to be enemies or lovers or was Bernice walking into her own death
A soft smile was on her lips, completely unaware of her brooding husband, who hadn’t gotten over a cat till now.
"Since you love him so much, why don’t you get married to him?" Cedric sneered, something dark like jealousy lingered in his tone. He was informed of how the cat has been glued to Abrielle that it even sleeps next to her
He didn’t even get to share the bed with her every night and a cat was enjoying that privilege.
"Huh," Abrielle was taken unaware. Her brow arched at him. She almost forgot about his obsessive tendencies. This was among the reasons Callista chose Lucian over him. His jealousy made him irrational at times.
Cedric was a very smart strategist but love made him act dumb at times. "If I wanted to wed him would you allow me?" She asked him. She knew the answer but wanted to taunt him
They were walking through the palace’s wide passages towards the banquet hall. Their arms locked together like a real couple which they were slowly turning into.
"Not even if I am dead. You are never getting married to someone else. My ghost will haunt you." His voice drawled. It was dark, giving her goosebumps, but one thing was certain: he meant what he said. Every bit of it.
"Then stop acting like a jealous husband. It doesn’t look good on someone as cold as you." Her words struck a nerve. They arrived at the doors, and the guards bowed, welcoming the royal couple.
The doors opened and they stepped in. "Announcing the presence of First Prince Cedric and his consort, Princess Abrielle of our wonderful homeland Darconia." Their entrance was announced.
All eyes turned toward them, and the hall went silent. The blood-lusted demon had arrived, the commander who defeated a Kingdom in a day.
Abrielle stiffened under the scrutiny, but Cedric, ever the picture of poise, tightened his grip on his arm. He touched her arm soothingly with his glove hand. This gave her a sense of Deja Vu.
"I thought you had gotten used to the stares, my darling wife?" he asked, almost sounding like a tease, his voice just loud enough for her to hear.
She had the sweetest smile ever despite being nervous inside. Her eyes were darting around the room. They were indeed the last royal family member to arrive. "Only if it was that easy, why are you always so calm?" she muttered under her breath. They walked into the hall.
Some nobles were showing interest in speaking to them, but they had to greet Eleanor first at the head table kept for the royal family.
"Oh, I don’t really care. Never cared about other opinions except yours," he whispered back, he was being genuine
He didn’t care, even though everyone was scared of him as long as she was okay with it. Cedric knew she was still scared but was slowly getting used to it..
He then added."It’s not every day I have to piss some people off with the fact I am alive ." Cedric gave the weirdest reply ever but he wasn’t wrong. He pissed her off every day with that fact. This was the same thing he said at the winter hunt.
They approached the table, Cedric and Abrielle exchanged greetings with Eleanor who gave them the sweetest fake smile ever. "Please have a seat." She offered, waving at their seat, which was next to Lucian and Callista.
"Thank you, your majesty." Abrielle chimed. Cedric placed his arm on her waist and led her to their seat. Once they were settled, Eleanor rose to her feet, clicking her glass with a spoon.
The hall went silent, and everyone’s attention was on her. "Today is a special day, not only are we here to celebrate victory, one that felt so out of reach, but also to celebrate the future unification of two former kingdoms which had become one." She was composed as she spoke. Every word was altered with confidence and authority as the queen.
"First a toast to the men that put their lives at risk and everyone that contributed to making today possible." She raised her glass and everyone did so. Giving a toast after gulping down the first glass, although Eleanor took just a sip.
She raised her glass again, "Fill up your glasses for another toast. This one goes to our beautiful princess Bernice Von Drakkar and her husband-to-be, Kairen Duncan, former prince of Sumaria. The first ever duke and duchess of Kelvax." She announced the marriage. Bernice nervously stood up with her glass, and across the table, a young man stood up bearing the charms of a prince.
He was gorgeous, that was the first thing Abrielle noticed, and his strong presence. She wondered how a prideful prince was handling everything. He had lost his nation and dignity. Now he was forced to marry his enemy’s daughter to protect whatever he had left.
Kairen Duncan had bloodshot red hair, so red it made his skin paler than it was with the rarest purple eyes ever. He was the second person Abrielle had seen with purple eyes in this world, the first being Annalise, Sebastian’s fiancée. Kaiden’s features were unique to the Sumaria royal family and hard to find elsewhere.
"You are staring longer than necessary, Abby." Abrielle felt chills go down her spine hearing Cedric whisper into her ears. She averted her eyes from Kairen, she was pulled by his looks she forgot about her obsessive husband.
.
She brought the glass to her lips to take a slow sip but Cedric wasn’t done. "There isn’t anything special about him, especially when I am way better looking." Cedric clicked his tongue. Abrielle didn’t answer him. Was she forbidden from looking at other men now? Just an innocent look.
