Chapter 255: Toy with their feelings
"I can’t believe I just witnessed a high-level ghoul being defeated by a single man in less than 2 minutes. He is indeed a demon." A foreign noble gushed; by his side was Sapphire, who had a proud look on her face after witnessing such a thing.
Her resolve was strengthened after seeing a glimpse of Cedric’s strength. She was going to get him. "He isn’t called a tyrant for nothing." She chimed joyfully.
This was a designated area for foreign nobles. Not far from Sapphire a pair of ears have been listening to their conversation. "So that is Cedric Von Drakkar, what an interesting fellow." The person chimed, glancing at his lord beside him.
"If you get into a fight with him, who do you think will win you..." His voice was stuck in his throat once faced by his Lord’s sharp gaze. He averted his eyes to face the stage. The next fight was about to start.
The person the foreigner was referring to was the man who helped Abrielle during the attempted assassination. His blue eyes shone as he observed everyone.
A scarf over half of his face. He was charming, without a doubt, despite half of his face being covered, but unfortunately, he fell behind Cedric’s unworldly looks.
His vibrant ginger hair wasn’t hard to miss, not to mention his dignified presence. "It is hard to know. He was holding back and toying with the ghoul." The stranger replied.
"I guess he would be a worthy opponent. I heard Cedric and Lucian were terrifying forces and the reasons why Darconia was over half of the continent’s size, but the youngest prince isn’t a slacker instead. It is just a shame he has such outstanding siblings." The stranger’s aide mentioned.
"It’s only a fool that would think Alfonso is weak, not everyone fights with a sword." The stranger’s voice trailed. The next knight arrived on the scene with the battle issuing but nothing could beat Cedric.
Alfonso, who had watched this performance from the back of the audience, clicked his tongue. "What a show-off; he should have acted like it was a bit difficult not to make everyone look worthless." He scoffed, then turned around about to leave the arena.
"He loves toying with his prey. If you have sparred with him you will understand that." Lucian commented, keeping the conversation simple, although they both knew something was off about what happened. Someone tried to assassinate Cedric in such an open place
It was easy summoning a wanderer here since there were several captured ghouls, making the air have a high concentration of dark aura.
"How nice, Cedric spared you a second for a duel. Unfortunately, our dearest big brother never glanced at me well except when his wife was mentioned, so I have no idea what it is like to truly fight him." Alfonso casually mentioned causing Lucian to chuckle at his words.
Their family was messed up from day one. There was always rivalry among them. A struggle to survive. To Cedric, Alfonso was never a threat till now.
"You are playing a dead man’s game. Trust me you don’t want Cedric to take you seriously." Lucian replied Alfonso. A smile crawled up the youngest prince’s lips.
"You have been doing fine despite everything"
"If only it was that simple. " Silence issued between them, Alfonso sighed then continued to move again. He understood what his self-righteous, morally grey brother meant. It was a warning to stay away from Abrielle if only it was that simple.
"Good luck on your duel later. At this rate, I doubt anyone can beat his record," Alfonso said on a final note before his back disappeared in the shadows of the hallway.

Cedric changed out of his armour, and as expected, Elias was waiting for him outside. The celebration was over, and it was time to take the fact that someone tried to kill him in broad daylight seriously.
One thing was for sure: it had nothing to do with the chaos attack, as whoever was behind that would know a wanderer was nothing for Cedric.
The door was pulled open, and Cedric stepped out, closing it behind him." Is the carriage ready?" He asked since he intended to head back to the palace immediately.
"It has been prepared," Elias answered, Cedric nodded at him. "It was an excellent performance, you were toying not with the ghoul but the audience." He added.
"It was necessary to remind whoever is the fool that thought he or she could easily get rid of me, the person I am," Cedric commented. He has deliberately fought that way to strike terror into the culprit.
"I am sure they got the message," Elias replied, Cedric started walking away out of the arena. Elias followed closely.
"Any clue on who the fool is?" Cedric nonchalantly asked, his guts told him his family was not involved this time around. Was it possible the sorcerers had a hand in It? He asked himself.
"We are still investigating and searching for clues, but it will be hard..the culprit would be long gone now, and the summoning was prepared ahead of time. Your entrance triggered it," Elias explained the same thing Cedric knew. They arrived outside. The sun was high in the clear blue sky.
A carriage was already waiting for the prince’s arrival. "Tell me something I am not aware of, Elias." Cedric drawled; his second in command went silent, contemplating.
"There is indeed something unrelated that might be of interest to you." Cedric arched his brow. He was about to step into the carriage.
"And what might that be. " He asked Elias, his curiosity piqued. "I heard whispers Eleanor wants to submit her investigation report about the attempted assassination at the tea party Princess Abrielle attended."
"What is so interesting about that? The queen finally found someone to shift the blame on to protect Astrid." It was funny how Eleanor was still protective of the daughter that wanted her dead.
"Yes, I heard whispers that are not clear. She plans to accuse your wife of it as a means to cripple your strength."
