Chapter 248: Grumpy ass
Chapter 248: Grumpy ass
Lucian had a strong feeling Cedric was behind this but there was no evidence. He felt his sister’s humiliation and could not believe why Cedric could do such a thing.
"Pray I don’t find any evidence tying you to what happened," Lucian said. Cedric was completely unbothered and shrugged, averting his eyes from Lucian.
"If you can excuse me I have something of great importance to handle. Good luck with your investigation. I hope you find what you are searching for." His voice was taunting. No fear or remorse and this triggered Lucian. His hands clenched as he watched Cedric leave.
Cedric was a cocky bastard. Lucian felt a soft hold on his hand, which made him relax as he glanced to his side to see Callista. Her clear blue eyes calm his rage, boiling inside him.
"Being angry won’t solve anything, Lucian." Her voice was soothing to the ears. Lucian had not sensed her coming but her mere presence was like a calming pill on her.
"I can’t understand why he would do such a thing. I know he is at odds with Astrid for the scar on his face but she is married now." Lucian explained, completely unaware of what Astrid did to Cedric.
"You can’t accuse him without evidence and I think things between Cedric and Astrid might be more complex than you think. After all, if Cedric is indeed the one who did what you said, why hasn’t he done this the past few years ago." Lucian’s brows furrowed, his mind plunging into deep thoughts as he tried to wrap his head around Callista’s reasoning.
"The question you should ask is why now of all times? From what I know about Cedric he is mostly not bothered by everything." Callista added.
"Why does it feel like you know something you are not telling me?" Lucian accused Callista, taking her off guard. Her eyes flickered, and her lips were between her teeth, which she bit.
Callista hesitantly opened her mouth, "I don’t know how to put this, Lucian, but Cedric was drugged a few months ago before the winter prayer. I think he suspects Astrid for it. I know it is hard to believe, but I feel Astrid still has feelings for Cedric, and the news of his marriage to Abrielle..."
"I have heard enough," Lucian groaned, feeling a headache coming. Now he was puzzled and withered, crazy enough that he knew Astrid could do such a thing.
"I need to calm my head before the duel today." He added, then freed his hand from Callista’s hold. Her eyes flickered, worry evident on her face as she watched Lucian walk away.

A painful hiss echoed, a figure curled up into a ball on the bed under the covers as the cool spring breeze came inside the room.
Abrielle tried to go back to sleep, but the slight rattling sounds of the window combined with the sun’s rays made it difficult to do that. Her eyes slowly opened dark circles under her tired eyes due to sleep deprivation.
She yawned, too exhausted to move a muscle and bloody hell; it felt like her body was crushed as it ached everywhere. "Cedric," she tiredly called out but there was no response.
He must have gone out, and she bet he was having a great day after wrecking her. That monster. The door creaked open, followed by footsteps
Abrielle was too exhausted to even turn to check who it was. It wasn’t like anyone could come into Cedric’s room unannounced.
She felt the presence stop behind her, a hand brushing off the stray strands of her on her face which was tucked behind her ear. "Good morning Abby," he chimed, it was weird hearing him speak sweetly to her
He was obviously in high spirits. "What is so great about the morning?" She sneered at him. Cedric was amused about someone’s grumpy ass.
She felt the covers being pulled away from her body, her eyes darting to Cedric. Horror was evident in it, she could not take it anymore. She was truly exhausted; last night, he didn’t stop until it was close to dawn. She has no idea when she even slept off.
She just woke up this morning feeling extremely sore between her legs. "What are you trying to do?" She snapped at him, covering up her chest with her arms, but it barely hid anything.
"You look even prettier when you are mad," Cedric answered, leaving her speechless; her jaw fell. "Cedric, please not now; call Evelyn or Zoltana; I need to at least take a long soak, then a very long nap." She beckoned on him ignoring the compliment
"I don’t think so," Cedric replied, her eyes narrowed at him wondering what he meant. Cedric leaned over gathering her in his arms. Her heart skipped a beat once he carried her
She did not dare fight against him less he might dropped her on the floor. "Evelyn is currently not available at the moment," he answered; she clung to him, still scared at the thought he might drop her on the floor.
"I need help; I obviously can’t do it by myself, thanks to you." She stated the obvious. He didn’t answer her, he probably didn’t feel her question was worth answering
Cedric walked through the thick curtains entering what seemed like the bathroom. The tub was already filled with water. Fear crept into her heart, her eyes slowly drawing to the man carrying her. He had his mask on, but it didn’t reduce the charms of his defined jaw lines.
’ Is he planning on helping me?’ she asked herself, feeling slight goosebumps in her skin. Cedric lowered her to the water, the first thing that left her mouth. "The water is cold," she cried out.
"I know, you should have thought before acting cosy with Alfonso." He sneered at her. He stood straight, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt before pulling off the mask he placed on a pedestal. It reminded her of the fact he had it on throughout last night when he... Abrielle’s cheeks turned red thinking about what he did
She then threw a glare at Cedric, who was amused by her mood swings.
